Jaorrus Morraus

From Emperor's Hammer Encyclopaedia Imperia

Jaorrus Morraus is a member of both the Emperor's Hammer TIE Corps and the Dark Brotherhood. He currently holds the ranks of Lieutenant Commander and Jedi Hunter respectively. Despite having being with the Dark Brotherhood for almost 2 years he has yet to reach the rank of Dark Jedi Knight and earn his lightsaber, a fact which he is rather sore about. Jaorrus hates nothing more than to feel he is weaker than others.

Over his career he has moved between several Battleteams, and has even been promoted to the rank of Battleteam Leader. However, he resigned this position after realising more time was require to spend on his research.

He is currently researching an uncovering ancient artefacts which will hopefully lead him to objects of power. He does join the Mystics of the Black Sword members on missions when it suits him.

He is by far one of the youngest members of the Dark Brotherhood, being a mere 21 years old, and his rank of Guardian puts him in a stronger position than many others in the Mystics of the Black Sword who are many years his senior.

Biography[edit]

Pre-Emperor's Hammer[edit]

Born on Coruscant, Jaorrus had a rather charmed life as a child. He was never in need, and often had the luxuries of a wealthy citizen of Coruscant. His parents had been supporters of the Empire, and his father was still working as a low level Imperial Intelligence source within Coruscant itself. When Coruscant fell, the family remained on Coruscant and his father kept in contact with Imperial Intelligence so he could assist in any liberation attempts. Due to this, Jaorrus had a rather Imperialistic up bringing.

He recieved a little hassle from bullies at school, and the mental scars were deeper than the physical ones. It has been suggested that this is the source of hatred towards other living beings. Due to his parents being rather pushy and wanting him to do well, Jaorrus became rather arrogant and started believing he was better than everyone else around him. This further separated him from normal society. Despite all this, he did well at his school and left with good qualifications.

Jaorrus was not the sort of person to end up in a dead end job, and so he decided to travel the galaxy for a bit before settling into a profession. Because of parent's wealth, for his 18th birthday he was purchased his own personal star fighter, an A-Wing. Jaorrus had always displayed a talent for flying, and could hold his own against some of his school friends who went on to join the Imperial Navy. He modified his fighter with a few superior systems and left home for the first time.

For the next 6 months he worked as a hired gun protecting convoys against pirate attacks. He deliberatly avoided protecting Imperial/New Republic convoys for he realised doing so might encure the wrath of armed force. Even with its modifications the A-Wing was no match for high grade military craft. He made several contacts in this time, and a few enemies as well. The work paid reasonably well, but Jaorrus became bored with the repeatativeness of the missions and the fact most of the pirates seemed to be morons. He ended his contracts and set off once again.

He then spent another 3 months travelling across many worlds examining Jedi and Sith architecture and structures. He found it very interesting and was strangely drawn to these sites. It was as if he could FEEL a power flowing through them. History had always been a fasination of Jaorrus', but this was the first time he really felt a connection to certain places.

At the end of this, Jaorrus decided to enter a professional military outfit. This was mainly due to a minor tragedy in his life that left him hating the New Republic. A friend of his that had enlisted with the Hammer’s Fist a year earlier was killed when his transport was destroyed by a New Republic strike force. Jaorrus felt greatly angered by this, and wanted to pay the rebels back a thousand fold for what they had done to his friend. Such a cowardly attack, his friend didn’t even get the chance to fight for his life. This would not be accepted. He decided to join the Emperor's Hammer's TIE Fighter Corps, in memory of his friend.

Early Service[edit]

Upon completion of his training on Station Daedalus, Jaorrus was transferred to the ISD Subjugator. He was assigned to Flayer Squadron, the Subjugator's Interdiction Squadron, and to fighter II of flight II. Jaorrus was pleased with his new ship, a missile boat class. He highly rated its superior warhead awould defend the missile boat, arguing since it was designed to combat the TIE Defender it was a superior craft. Regardless, Jaorrus would spend his entire Tie Corps career in that ship, nicknamed the Subtle Deciever.

Jaorrus showed talent, and quickly rose to the rank of Lieutenant. He obtained many medals for his service, including a Gold Star of the Empire for spearheading a propaganda campaign to recruit more pilots. It was around this time it was revealed he was force sensitive, something that would change his life.

Force Sensitivity[edit]

Jaorrus' force potential was revealed when he was approached by a Sith in the Emperor's Hammer. Jaorrus had never realised he might have potential, but under the advice of this Sith he joined the Dark Brotherhood, and more specifically the Sith. He was assigned to Stingray Squadron of Clan Tarentum.

This didn’t last however, since his flying in the Tie Corps took priority. Thus because of his interest in history he transferred to the Krath, and the Warders of Ask’aeri. He remained in Clan Tarentum, and would become very attached to his clan.

He kept his head down, drawing little attention and slowly his powers grew. He rose through the ranks to Protector, but was still impatient to get his lightsaber. He made an ally in the then Consul, Death. In time, Death would offer Jaorrus a master-apprentice role, which Jaorrus would accept.

Things took a turn for the better when was promoted to Battleteam Leader of the Mystics of the Black Sword, which was followed by being awarded the rank of Guardian. He served the position well, but eventually the desire to increase his power caused him to resign to pursue personal projects. However, during his time as Tetrarch, he found himself at odds with Azurin, the then Tetrarch of the Warders of Ask’aeri. Their 2 battle teams clashed over a certain artefact. Jaorrus was enraged at this and has one day sworn to kill Azurin, along with a few others in Dark Brotherhood.

No longer in power, Jedi Hunter Steiner took command of the Mystics, and did a very good job. However, Jaorrus would still think of he and Rancorous as being too weak in the darkside. He retreated into his personal projects, leaving Steiner to use the Mystics as he saw fit.

Current Service and Future Goals[edit]

Jaorrus is now trying desperately to increase his power. He is researching dark artefacts and ancient sites where he might find such power. With his master being busy dealing with the Dueling Institute of Eos, Jaorrus has been left to his own devices. He assists the Mystics on occasion, but his main priority is always his own advancement.

With his recent promotion to Jedi Hunter, Jaorrus is 1 step away from his goal.

He does one day aim to become a Dark Lord, but this seems a very long time away. Further more, when he does reach this rank it is unlikely he will remain with Dark Brotherhood, since with power of that magnitude, the Brotherhood would be too small for this ambitious young man.

Character[edit]

Physical Description[edit]

Jaorrus is tall, thin, usually wearing all black. He keeps his hair short and neatly cut. He walks with an heir of superiority. His face is very slender and narrows down to his chin, with his cheekbones not being very prominent. His build is lanky and thin. Not muscled, but not fat. Most would consider him borderline underweight.

He stands up straight, rarely hunching over. He often has a stony expression, rarely smiling except when hearing something humorous or (more often than not) plotting something. When in a bad mood, eyes are kept narrowed and although externally rage isn’t too obvious, Jaorrus is storing the anger to be unleashed at a later time on another enemy. He over looks little annoyances at times, but this builds on his internal rage.

He mostly wears Black Dark Jedi Robes. These robes have gold lining along the edges of openings. Around the folds from the chest up to the neck there is an additional line of gold. He also wears thick black boots concealing emergency sonic pistol and often wears black gloves, meaning the only part of his skin visible is his head.

Personality[edit]

Jaorrus is far from the most approachable person in the Dark Brotherhood. He believes himself better than everyone else. Anyone around him is only as good as he is useful to Jaorrus. Only a few people have his respect, most of them commanding officers, though would be more than happy to stab them in the back if he would succeed and gain from it. He usually keeps to himself, working alone on his own projects.

He always uses his height to its full advantage to tower over other people, and often looks as if he is disgusted by the existance of other beings if he does not consider them an ally. Despite his rather light frame, he does still have an aura of menace over younger members of the DB.

Weaponary[edit]

Jaorrus carries the Morraus Duelling Blade. A unique family heirloom, this is a modified Vibroblade that emits intense heat and electricity. Even if the subject does not lose a limb from the blade, a direct strike on the skin will leave weaker willed opponents reeling in pain. Includes a thin layer of a lightsaber resistant material (similar to Cortosis, but stronger) coating the weapon for deflecting lightsabers. Although the weapon is unique, every generation of the Morrian line is taught how to repair the weapon. In the event it is damaged, Jaorrus has the knowledge to repair it before it is required again. The blade was originally just a normal Vibroblade, but over time has been upgraded with the stated modifications.

Jaorrus often carries in addition: a pistol, several grenades, other explosives.

In time, when he gains the use of a lightsaber, Jaorrus intends to become a master of Form II, and eventually duel wield using Jar'Kai.
