History

Early Life

Saul was the youngest child of Calo Rostek, a high-level adminstrator in Thyferra's Xucphra bacta cartel. While his older brother Harkin folllowed in the family business, Saul applied himself to theoretical studies and won a higly-contested place at the Imperial University on Imperial Centre (now Coruscant), studying high-energy physics. Whilst there, he also discovered a talent for flying and signed up with the Imperial Naval Reserves as a pilot. When Imperial Centre was invaded by the republic, Rostek and the rest of his reserve unit were out on manoeuvres in the outer system. Realising they couldn't help to influence the battle, they returned to their baseship and fled to Yaga Minor.

Adulthood

After the fall of Imperial Centre, Rostek travelled home to meet his family. However, the ship he was travelling on suffered a hyperdrive failure and so by the time he got there the Rebels had taken Thyferra. His father and brother had both been killled in the occupation, and his mother was missing, presumed dead. Keeping a low profile, he managed to withdraw most of his family's assets and then return to the Imperial Fleet, where he requested that his reserve commission be transferred to the regular forces. His request was agreed to, and he completed Basic training on the Platform Daedalus.

Service History

As a sublieutenant, Rostek was posted to the ISD Relentless. He reached the rank of Lieutenant Commander aboard this ship, serving as a pilot and later Flight Leader in Crossbow (77th Reconnaissance) Squadron, then as a pilot in Hammer (38th Special Operations) Squadron.

When the Relentless was mothballed, Rostek was transferred to Pi (34th Support) Squadron aboard the ISD Colossus. It was here, whilst serving as a Flight Leader and Squadron XO that Rostek achieved the rank of Commander. However, shortly afterwards, the Colossus was also retired, and Rostek moved to the reserves.

Five months later, Rostek returned to active duty, this time in Inferno (42nd Interdiction) Squadron of Wing X. He then transferred across to become Commander of Typhoon Squadron on the same ship, but eventually had to step down due to RL issues. He remained with the squadron as Typhoon 2, a position he has held ever since.

Callsign and Helmet Design

CM Rostek's Helmet

Commander Rostek's callsign is "Sticky", derived from a shortened form of his surname. However, wardroom rumour has it that this callsign also refers to an unspecified incident that ocurred whilst on leave on Aurora Prime.

Commander Rostek's flight helmet bears, in addition to the usual squadron and position insignia (although the insignia are slightly modified), a pair of white roses. These represent the area of Thyferra which his family were based in.
