some time ago I informed you that I had contacted the German SW Fan Club Magazine and posted a little announce about the EH. I got the new mag yesterday, and they printed it :) Attached you will find the little text.
It goes like this:
"I'm looking for TIE Fighter/XvT/XWA/Jedi Knight loving Star Wars Fans, who want to support our Imperial Fleet 'Emperor's Hammer' as Pilots, Commanders, Stormtroopers, smugglers, senators or dark Jedi! == Competition Guidance ==

Competitions provide and fun and exciting way for members to engage in club activities. Competitions may take place across a nearly unlimited variety of activities, including gaming, trivia, puzzles, or creative works (graphics/fiction).

Competitions can be recommended/submitted via the the [https://tc.emperorshammer.org/addcompetition.php Management Panel] on your Emperor's Hammer profile. You will need to provide certain mandatory information about your proposed competition, such as start and end dates, medals/awards that can be won, and a full description of the competition and its rules. When completing the competition submission form, you should complete each field to be display-ready for members when your competition is approved. Correct spelling and grammar helps provide clarity to your competition. The competition form support [https://www.markdownguide.org/basic-syntax/ Markdown]-based formatting, enabling you to organize the information well and provide emphasis where needed.

If you are new to submitting competitions, it can be very helpful to have another experienced member, such as a [[Squadron Commander]], proofread your proposed competition prior to submission. They can also provide feedback on the rules and scoring for your competition. Reviewing existing approved competitions within the [https://tc.emperorshammer.org/competitions.php Competition Center] can also help a new competition runner understand what makes a good competition listing.

=== Duties of a Competition Runner ===

Competition runners (i.e., the person proposing a competition) are responsible for the competition from inception through completion. This includes:

* Recommending the competition through the web site interface.
* Making corrections to the competition listing, if necessary.
* Collecting results, scores, or other applicable performance metrics for the competition.
* Announcing mid-competition standings, if applicable (typically for longer duration competitions).
* Announcing the final competition results.
* Initiating medal recommendations for the winning members.

While running a good competition can take some time and energy, it is a great way to create a fun atmosphere within the organization and provides additional opportunities for the competition runner to be recognized for their contributions.

=== Common Errors ===

* The competition details omit information that a member will need to fully participate in the event. For example, failing to explain how the competition will be scored, how or where to submit their results, etc.
* The proposed awards for the competition are not consistent with the respective subgroup's criteria for those awards.
* Excessive spelling, grammar, or formatting errors that impact the clarity of the competition listing.

=== Competitions in the TIE Corps ===

As a rule of thumb, the TIE Corps prefers not to duplicate competitions that are already in existence at a wider level (other than trivia). For example, a squadron or battlegroup version of Ace of the TIE Corps would not be approved as it is essentially double dipping with regards to medals. We do though allow ''similar'' competitions and if you can use a different metric (e.g., Legion of Combat/Legions of Skirmish with a certain number of your own squadron present instead of a flat count of LoCs/LoSs) then it would likely be approved. If in doubt please contact the [[Warfare Officer]] for guidance.

When it comes to medals, please remember:

* Platinum [[Iron Star|Iron Stars]] may only be awarded for first place in Corps-wide competitions that either last at least four months or for more complex events like Raise the Flag.
* Gold [[Iron Star|Iron Stars]] are awarded for first place in battlegroup, ship, and wing competitions. They’re also awarded for Corps-level competitions that last less than a few months and to the runner-up for an IS-PW. Competitions at the Corps, battlegroup, ship, and wing levels that run for less than a month or have rounds that last less than a month should not award IS-GWs to keep them from becoming too common.
* Silver [[Iron Star|Iron Stars]] are awarded for first place in squadron-level competitions that last at least one month. They’re also awarded to the runner-up for an IS-GW.
* Bronze [[Iron Star|Iron Stars]] are awarded for first place in squadron-level competitions lasting less than one month or to the runner-up for an IS-SW.
* Copper [[Iron Star|Iron Stars]] would never need to be a first place award, with other Iron Stars fulfilling that purpose. Any competition awarding the IS-BW or IS-BR may award an IS-CW or IS-CR to the runner-up.
* [[Operational Readiness Award]]: These should not be awarded as a simple “participate in the competition, get a medal”. The idea for the ORA is that pilots can make achievements in a competition without placing, for example completing a certain number of tasks. If in doubt please reach out to the WO for advice.

== Activities ==

The Emperor's Hammer is primarily based on online multiplayer or role play gaming in the Star Wars universe, however, there are many other activities and events available.

The primary activities center around online multiplayer gaming

The TIE Corps focuses on the space combat sims, the Hammer's Fist on the First Person Shooters, the Directorate on Strategy and the Fringe on Star Wars Galaxies (Star Wars themed Massive Multiplayer Online Role Playing Game). The Dark Brotherhood of Jedi is the only exception as it focuses on many aspects and adds in the element of Force users.

The Emperor's Hammer has created thousands of missions/maps for Star Wars games. They are available for download from the Emperor's Hammer Battle Center.

Events, competitions, units and other situations all require webpages for effective communication within the Fleet. Webpages creation is a good way to get noticed and promote your own fighting unit.

Graphics and other Artistic Endeavors
Creating original EH-oriented graphics is a great way to contribute to the Fleet. It does not matter if you think you are the worst artist in the world, there is never enough graphic art in the EH.

Newsletters
The Emperor's Hammer publishes the Dark Sentinel. This newsletter covers the entire EH and accepts contributions from all corners of the club. Give your work a broader audience. Be creative!
Events

Operations and Competitions
All of the above activities can be done as an individual effort at any time. Don't wait for some "official" event to come along to be active! When official events do come along, it is always a big event. Official events fall into two categories:
Operations and Competitions.

Operations are the Big Events. They are always Group-wide and frequently have many different activities to encourage everyone to participate. Because they are so complex, they involve many man-hours of preparation and do not occur more than once every few months.

Competitions are more local events. They are usually at the unit level or below, pitting squadron against squadron or platoon against platoon. Inter-squad competitions can settle who is the best flight in a squadron or squad in a platoon. Competitions may be run by anyone and only require approval by a superior and the Operation Officer for that Group.

Competitions provide and fun and exciting way for members to engage in club activities. Competitions may take place across a nearly unlimited variety of activities, including gaming, trivia, puzzles, or creative works (graphics/fiction).

Competitions can be recommended/submitted via the the [https://tc.emperorshammer.org/addcompetition.php Management Panel] on your Emperor's Hammer profile. You will need to provide certain mandatory information about your proposed competition, such as start and end dates, medals/awards that can be won, and a full description of the competition and its rules. When completing the competition submission form, you should complete each field to be display-ready for members when your competition is approved. Correct spelling and grammar helps provide clarity to your competition. The competition form support [https://www.markdownguide.org/basic-syntax/ Markdown]-based formatting, enabling you to organize the information well and provide emphasis where needed.

If you are new to submitting competitions, it can be very helpful to have another experienced member, such as a [[Squadron Commander]], proofread your proposed competition prior to submission. === Duties of a Competition Runner ===

Competition runners (i.e., the person proposing a competition) are responsible for the competition from inception through completion. This includes:

* Recommending the competition through the web site interface.
* Making corrections to the competition listing, if necessary.
* Collecting results, scores, or other applicable performance metrics for the competition.
* Announcing mid-competition standings, if applicable (typically for longer duration competitions).
* Announcing the final competition results.
* Initiating medal recommendations for the winning members.

While running a good competition can take some time and energy, it is a great way to create a fun atmosphere within the organization and provides additional opportunities for the competition runner to be recognized for their contributions.

=== Common Errors ===

* The competition details omit information that a member will need to fully participate in the event. For example, failing to explain how the competition will be scored, how or where to submit their results, etc.
* The proposed awards for the competition are not consistent with the respective subgroup's criteria for those awards.
* Excessive spelling, grammar, or formatting errors that impact the clarity of the competition listing.

=== Competitions in the TIE Corps ===

As a rule of thumb, the TIE Corps prefers not to duplicate competitions that are already in existence at a wider level (other than trivia). For example, a squadron or battlegroup version of Ace of the TIE Corps would not be approved as it is essentially double dipping with regards to medals. We do though allow ''similar'' competitions and if you can use a different metric (e.g., Legion of Combat/Legions of Skirmish with a certain number of your own squadron present instead of a flat count of LoCs/LoSs) then it would likely be approved. If in doubt please contact the [[Warfare Officer]] for guidance.

When it comes to medals, please remember:

* Platinum [[Iron Star|Iron Stars]] may only be awarded for first place in Corps-wide competitions that either last at least four months or for more complex events like Raise the Flag.
* Gold [[Iron Star|Iron Stars]] are awarded for first place in battlegroup, ship, and wing competitions. They’re also awarded for Corps-level competitions that last less than a few months and to the runner-up for an IS-PW. Competitions at the Corps, battlegroup, ship, and wing levels that run for less than a month or have rounds that last less than a month should not award IS-GWs to keep them from becoming too common.
* Silver [[Iron Star|Iron Stars]] are awarded for first place in squadron-level competitions that last at least one month. They’re also awarded to the runner-up for an IS-GW.
* Bronze [[Iron Star|Iron Stars]] are awarded for first place in squadron-level competitions lasting less than one month or to the runner-up for an IS-SW.
* Copper [[Iron Star|Iron Stars]] would never need to be a first place award, with other Iron Stars fulfilling that purpose. Any competition awarding the IS-BW or IS-BR may award an IS-CW or IS-CR to the runner-up.
* [[Operational Readiness Award]]: These should not be awarded as a simple “participate in the competition, get a medal”. The idea for the ORA is that pilots can make achievements in a competition without placing, for example completing a certain number of tasks. If in doubt please reach out to the WO for advice.

The Emperor's Hammer is primarily based on online multiplayer or role play gaming in the Star Wars universe, however, there are many other activities and events available.

The primary activities center around online multiplayer gaming

The TIE Corps focuses on the space combat sims, the Hammer's Fist on the First Person Shooters, the Directorate on Strategy and the Fringe on Star Wars Galaxies (Star Wars themed Massive Multiplayer Online Role Playing Game). The Dark Brotherhood of Jedi is the only exception as it focuses on many aspects and adds in the element of Force users.

The Emperor's Hammer has created thousands of missions/maps for Star Wars games. They are available for download from the Emperor's Hammer Battle Center.

Events, competitions, units and other situations all require webpages for effective communication within the Fleet. Webpages creation is a good way to get noticed and promote your own fighting unit.

Graphics and other Artistic Endeavors
Creating original EH-oriented graphics is a great way to contribute to the Fleet. It does not matter if you think you are the worst artist in the world, there is never enough graphic art in the EH.

Newsletters
The Emperor's Hammer publishes the Dark Sentinel. This newsletter covers the entire EH and accepts contributions from all corners of the club. Give your work a broader audience. Be creative!
Events

Operations and Competitions
All of the above activities can be done as an individual effort at any time. Don't wait for some "official" event to come along to be active! When official events do come along, it is always a big event. Official events fall into two categories:
Operations and Competitions.

Operations are the Big Events. They are always Group-wide and frequently have many different activities to encourage everyone to participate. Because they are so complex, they involve many man-hours of preparation and do not occur more than once every few months.

Competitions are more local events. They are usually at the unit level or below, pitting squadron against squadron or platoon against platoon. Inter-squad competitions can settle who is the best flight in a squadron or squad in a platoon. Competitions may be run by anyone and only require approval by a superior and the Operation Officer for that Group.

The '''Emperor's Hammer''' (formally the <em>Emperor's Hammer Strike Fleet</em>) is a historied Star Wars fan club that has supported Star Wars gaming and fan content creation since 1995. This has been through the establishment of various thematic [[subgroup|subgroups]] that deliver community, collaboration, competition, and a Star Wars-flavored experience that picks up at the fringes of official media. The original trilogy of Star Wars movies depicted the conflict between the Galactic Empire and the Rebel Alliance. The Emperor's Hammer has a roleplay aspect to it in that our structure is based on our idea of how a piece of the Empire might have continued the fight and operate after the the fall of the Galactic Empire.

All of the activities listed above can be done as an individual effort at any time. You don't wait for some "official" event to come along to be active! When official events do come along, it is always a big event. Official events fall into two categories:
Operations and Competitions.

Operations are the Big Events. They are always Subgroup-wide and frequently have many different activities to encourage everyone to participate. Because they are so complex, they involve many man-hours of preparation and do not occur more than once every few months.

Competitions are more local events. They are usually at the unit level or below, pitting unit against unit at various echelons (Squadron, Ship, etc.). Intra-unit competitions can settle who is the best flight in a squadron or squad in a platoon. Competitions may be run by any member, and only require approval at the Subgroup Command level.

The Command Staff Officers and Command Staff Support Officers are the primary people in charge of various activities in the Emperor's Hammer. Each position and office is vital to the success and day to day function of the fleet. The Command Staff was formerly divided into two sections: the Command Staff and Support Staff. The '''Emperor's Hammer''' (formally the <em>Emperor's Hammer Strike Fleet</em>) is a historied Star Wars fan club that has supported Star Wars gaming and fan content creation since 1995. This has been through the establishment of various thematic [[subgroup|subgroups]] that deliver community, collaboration, competition, and a Star Wars-flavored experience that picks up at the fringes of official media. The original trilogy of Star Wars movies depicted the conflict between the Galactic Empire and the Rebel Alliance. The Emperor's Hammer has a roleplay aspect to it in that our structure is based on our idea of how a piece of the Empire might have continued the fight and operate after the the fall of the Galactic Empire.

== Activities ==

The Emperor's Hammer is primarily based on online multiplayer or role play gaming in the Star Wars universe, however, there are many other activities and events available.

The primary activities center around online multiplaying for they set a theme for each Group. The TIE Corps focuses on the space combat sims, the Hammer's Fist on the First Person Shooters, the Directorate on Strategy and the Fringe on Star Wars Galaxies (Star Wars themed Massive Multiplayer Online Role Playing Game). The Dark Brotherhood of Jedi is the only exception as it focuses on many aspects and adds in the element of Force users.

The Emperor's Hammer has created thousands of missions/maps for Star Wars games. They are available for download from the Emperor's Hammer Battle Center.

= Creating a New Subgroup =

The Emperor's Hammer encourages its members to explore new subgroup ideas or the resurrection of previous subgroups. To ensure that these groups are stable and have the best opportunity to succeed, the Fleet Commander, Grand Admiral [[Rapier]], has set forth the following rules for opening discussion with him.

This should be a well thought out plan detailing where and how you’ll seek out new members that would desire to participate in your subgroup. How you will continue and sustain that growth over time as the typical member engagement is 6 months to 2 years.

Most importantly, you’ll want to know what activities the new subgroup will take part in. You should also have an idea of how it will differ from the existing subgroups and what you require to manage and administer those activities. This is critical as the [[Internet Officer]]'s staff has limited availability to create new infrastructure and such projects will need to be prioritized.

=== 25+ Membership Count ===

At the height of the Emperor's Hammer it boasted a 5,000+ strong roster. However, many of those records were duplicates. It was common for a single individual to be a member of multiple subgroups. This led to burnout and a diminished quality of work as individuals focused on one or two of the subgroups they were in at a time.

To prevent this, any new subgroup needs to have the majority of their 25+ members come from outside of the Emperor’s Hammer. We recognize that a core group will originate from within but we do not want to diminish another subgroup's ability to function to stand up a new one.

=== 1 Year Service Commitment ===

Starting a new subgroup is labor-intensive. From preparing the structure, activities, and overall plan to the Fleet Commander's satisfaction to finding and recruiting new members, there is a considerable amount of activity that will rest upon you, the petitioner, to get a new subgroup started.

The need for a 1 year service commitment is to ensure that once the subgroup is started that there is a consistency in direction. This will be a critical time for a new subgroup and the momentum that is being established can be lost if the leader leaves.

=== Process and Next Steps ===

You'll have numerous consultations with the Fleet Commander and Executive Officer as you're working on the three critical requirements for a new subgroup to be opened. Once the above criteria has been met a formal review will be established with the Fleet Commander for formal approval.

If approved, the subgroup will be able to open operate and function within the Emperor's Hammer. If further revision is required the consultations will continue until approval can be granted.

The '''Emperor's Hammer''' (formally the <em>Emperor's Hammer Strike Fleet</em>) is a historied Star Wars fan club that has supported Star Wars gaming and fan content creation since 1995. This has been through the establishment of various thematic [[subgroup|subgroups]] that deliver community, collaboration, competition, and a Star Wars-flavored experience that picks up at the fringes of official media. The original trilogy of Star Wars movies depicted the conflict between the Galactic Empire and the Rebel Alliance. The Emperor's Hammer has a roleplay aspect to it in that our structure is based on our idea of how a piece of the Empire might have continued the fight and operate after the the fall of the Galactic Empire.

== Activities ==

The Emperor's Hammer is primarily based on online multiplayer or role play gaming in the Star Wars universe, however, there are many other activities and events available.

The primary activities center around online multiplaying for they set a theme for each Group. The TIE Corps focuses on the space combat sims, the Hammer's Fist on the First Person Shooters, the Directorate on Strategy and the Fringe on Star Wars Galaxies (Star Wars themed Massive Multiplayer Online Role Playing Game). The Dark Brotherhood of Jedi is the only exception as it focuses on many aspects and adds in the element of Force users.

The Emperor's Hammer has created thousands of missions/maps for Star Wars games. They are available for download from the Emperor's Hammer Battle Center.

All of the activities listed above can be done as an individual effort at any time. You don't wait for some "official" event to come along to be active! When official events do come along, it is always a big event. Official events fall into two categories:
Operations and Competitions.

Operations are the Big Events. They are always Subgroup-wide and frequently have many different activities to encourage everyone to participate. Because they are so complex, they involve many man-hours of preparation and do not occur more than once every few months.

Competitions are more local events. They are usually at the unit level or below, pitting unit against unit at various echelons (Squadron, Ship, etc.). Intra-unit competitions can settle who is the best flight in a squadron or squad in a platoon. Competitions may be run by any member, and only require approval at the Subgroup Command level.

The Emperor's Hammer Command Staff (EHCS, alternatively EH CS) comprise the upper levels of command in the Emperor's Hammer.

The Command Staff Officers and Command Staff Support Officers are the primary people in charge of various activities in the Emperor's Hammer. They are supported by '''Command Attache''' to each Command Staff Officer as well as the '''Imperial Advisors'''. Each position and office is vital to the success and day to day function of the fleet. The Command Staff was formerly divided into two sections: the Command Staff and Support Staff. Now the Command Staff operates as one unit, with all support officers operating under their primary office.

The responsibilities of each Command Staff position include:

* Independently overseeing and maintaining their various areas of duty.
* Submitting reports as needed.
* Appointing a Command Attachés and Command Assistants, when needed.

* Awarding and/or recommending medals and commendations to the membership for achievements.
* Reviewing comments, answering questions, etc. from the Emperor' Hammer membership.

In the event that both the [[Fleet Commander]] and [[Executive Officer]] are unable to fulfill their duties, the [[Subgroup Commander]]s will have direct control of their subgroups within the oversight of the [[Board of Trustees]], until such time that the Board of Trustees may gather for an emergency session to select a new Fleet Commander. The '''Emperor's Hammer''' (formally the <em>Emperor's Hammer Strike Fleet</em>) is a historied Star Wars fan club that has supported Star Wars gaming and fan content creation since 1995. This has been through the establishment of various thematic [[subgroup|subgroups]] that deliver community, collaboration, competition, and a Star Wars-flavored experience that picks up at the fringes of official media. The original trilogy of Star Wars movies depicted the conflict between the Galactic Empire and the Rebel Alliance. The Emperor's Hammer has a roleplay aspect to it in that our structure is based on our idea of how a piece of the Empire might have continued the fight and operate after the the fall of the Galactic Empire.

The Emperor's Hammer is operated by the Emperor's Hammer, Inc., a certified non-profit corporation in the State of New Jersey, USA, which is established to protect and preserve the EH for the benefit of its membership. The legal entity is governed by the <em>Owner/Founder</em>, William P. Call ([[Ronin]]), and the <em>Trustees</em> elected to the Board of Trustees. ==Background Information==

The Emperor's Hammer (EH) was formally established in January of 1995, with the foundational [[Newsletter]]s being authored by [[Ronin]] in late 1994. Because the history of the EH predates even the release of the Star Wars prequel trilogy, the timeline of the EH draws from many elements of the former Expanded Universe (now "Legends") as well as recognizing elements of the post-Disney official Canon. The ''Imperial Sourcebook'' (Second Edition), as well as other Sourcebooks, provided much inspiration for the initial structure of the Emperor's Hammer. The Legends material also includes things such as the story line of the original TIE Fighter games from which the EH grew as a natural extension. Because of this, the EH does not exclusively adhere to either Legends or Canon material; members will see elements of both reflected in the timeline and various written items.

The Emperor's Hammer (officially the ''Emperor's Hammer Strike Fleet'') is a [[Star Wars]] [[video game]] and [[fan fiction]] club that was founded in 1995 by [[Grand Admiral]] [[Ronin]]. It was originally launched as the Emperor’s Hammer Strike Wing in December 1994 before being renamed the following month.

==Official Vector Art==

Official logos for the Emperor's Hammer and its subgroups are available for download in Scalable Vector Graphics (SVG) format. The SVG files support scaling to any required resolution without loss of quality with a suitable vector graphics application (for example, Inkscape or Adobe Illustrator). For convenience, the Wiki software is capable of rendering the files as transparent PNGs in various sizes.

==Logo Usage Standards==

The following standards apply to the use of Emperor's Hammer logos as either a primary or secondary element of any design.

1. Logos may only appear in their respective approved color, black (or a reduced saturation of black so it appears gray), or white.

2. As a primary element, the logo must appear using 100% full saturation of the official color. It can also be black or a reduced saturation of black so it appears gray. Do not use transparency.

3. When used as a background or secondary element, the colors may be tinted or saturation reduced. It may also appear transparent when used as a background element.
4. Whenever possible, the approved color should be used as part of a design or layout. For example, if red is to be the primary color of your layout, use TC red. This helps to provide a consistent and simple brand presentation.

5. Placing anything in front of, adding gradients to or adding patterns to the logo is prohibited when used as a primary element.

6. The negative space or holes in the logo must remain the same color as the background unless an effect (such as a drop shadow or glow) is used.

7. Any strokes or outlines added must be set outside the original design. Strokes set inside or centered are unacceptable.

8. If the saturation of the black is reduced on the logo, when used as a primary element, the resulting gray must make the mark contrast the background sufficiently.

9. The logo can not be stretched or compressed in any way unless done so proportionately on both axis.

10. Drop shadows, glows, outlines, etc. are acceptable when used to differentiate the logo from a background if needed. Any such effect should not overpower the logo.
