My name is Fayde Zarr and I was born in the year 8 BBY to Fortis Zarr and Centina Zara on the planet Fondor. My father served as Operational Overseer of the north quadrant shipyards where he met my mother, the chief accounting officer to that same quadrant. They were married and several years later I was born. They were rock and steel, unmovable elements, but at the same time loving parents to my recollection. You could say I enjoyed a normal childhood and was privileged to have an upper middle class upbringing on Fondor. I enjoyed the totualage of some of the finest private schools, I was trained in local arts and given the best that Fondor had to offer me and my family at the time. We were flourishing under the empire and providing them with some of the finest starships and weapons at the time. While part of my instruction was naturally in local and galactic affairs I really never took much interest in politics. The bickering and back stabbing was something that I despised. I wanted to be an honorable warrior, not a back biting rat. Little did I know that the military would also prove to have its own traitors. Nor did I want to follow in my parents footsteps and eventually take over operational business at the wealthy shipyards of Fondor. My eyes and heart were set on becoming a pilot, like my uncle. He was an essentric character that most in our family looked down on, couldn’t even remember his name if you asked me now. At that same time I was bombarded with news of “terroristic rebel activity” and the loss of one of the most powerful and greatest galactic achievements, the Death Star. It was preached in our schools and at the local town forums that the Empire was loosing it’s grip on the galaxy and that true peace and order would be totally lost at the hands of these Rebel traitors.

At the age of 12, in the year 4 ABY the Empire had suffered its greatest and most irreversible defeats. They were attacked by a Rebel strike fleet and their second Death Star was destroyed, along with our Emperor. A sense of “silent panic” took hold on Fondor and their shipyards. The Imperial fleets were in shambles and with no clear direction sooner or later the Rebel Alliance would be on our doorstep. They would want to “liberate” Fondor of Imperial control and forcibly takeover our shipyards. Rumors were coming out of other key worlds that those that resisted the ensuing chaos of the Rebellion’s influence were marked as “imperial sympathizers” and executed as traitors to the “republic”. My father was besides himself and would mutter to my mother and I, “But wasn’t our Empire the true child of their beloved Republic, not this rag tag group of terrorists known as the Rebel Alliance.”  A little while later father made the decision to move off-planet and seek shelter on one of the outer rim planets where the Empire still had some influence. What was the name of that planet, his ultimate goal? I don’t know if he even knew. And there were rumors that were spreading that a second Empire would be formed from its ashes by one of their Imperial Warlords. By whom, though, was still all too unclear. The political remnants of the Empire reeked like a dying carcass.

<b>The Pirate Life</b>

En route to our new home in the outer rim, the Zarr family convoy was attacked by a pirate raiding party outside a refueling platform. Without the normal support of Imperial defense forces the local refueling platform refused to offer help and sacrifice their scant military vessels to our aide. The convoy was left to defend itself, we were half destroyed and half captured by the pirate raiders. Taken aboard the lead pirate vessel, I watched as they kicked and beat our family for information. Then after they didn’t like the answers we gave them I looked on with horror as my father and mother was executed by the pirate Admiral Kron and his infamous clan known as “the Void”.  I was initially taken captive to serve as a ransom, the Pirate Admiral hoping that he could use my “innocent and young life” as a bargaining chip at some point in the future with either the Imperial remnant or New Republic forces.  But he was wrong. No one cared about the life of the son of a long dead Technocrat of Fondor. Several years went by as I lived out a wretched and lowly life as a slave to the pirate gang.

As the years passed I festered in silence, keeping my eyes open and learning as much as I could from the scum Pirate crew. I was able to acquire several “life skills” that would prove valuable on many occasions, skills that perhaps I would have never learned had I entered in an "Imperial academy". Their trust in me eventually grew so much that they allowed me to participate in several raids on Imperial Remnant and New Republic convoys. During this time I lost my left eye to a group of Trandoshen warriors that were pissed off while I was trying to work a robbery on an abandoned cruise liner. The Trandoshens were able to take my eye, I was able to take 3 of their heads. So my abilities as a fighter also become clear to my superiors and at the young age of 16 was allowed to fly as flight leader for one of the pirate squadrons. Their squad mostly consisted of several salvaged X-wings, Z95 headhunters, and a few rare but beautiful Assault Gunboats. I was gifted a Gunboat by Admiral Kron and promoted to Squad commander. I named her, Silent Vengeance.

In 10 ABY the time finally came to seek my revenge on my pirate captors. Gaining their trust and learning their ways I was a wolf in sheep’s clothing. Yes, I remember that pivotal day. The taste of metal in my mouth and the pounding of adrenaline and blood in my ears. I lead a raiding party on a lightly guarded deep space weapons depot in the outer rim, near the Aurora system. We stormed the halls, taking out the remaining guards that hadn’t abandoned ship. While passing through a corridor a small red light, a distress beacon blinked on one of the station’s communication panels. I allowed the others to run ahead, searching for any remaining guards. I approached the panel, it read simply “If under attack, please alert the Emperor’s Hammer strike force and we will provide assistance.” I read, and re-read the readout. My heart pounded in my chest as I tapped the red button. With a nearly silent blip the comms station sent out a distress signal to the Emperor’s Hammer nearest warship. I ducked out of the room and quickly ran down the corridor, away from the communications station to find my pirate crew mates frantically listening to their personal communications devices. “The Imperial remnant has been alerted to our presence.” “They are sending an Imperial Star Destroyer”. “What the #@$!, we won’t stand a chance.” “Get out of there now!” The radio chatter was becoming overwhelming and I ordered an immediate retreat off the station and back to the fleet that was just outside, 15 klicks from our current position. As we neared our fighters in the hanger bay I pulled out my blaster and squeezed off 5 quick blaster shots. They dropped like limp bags of dirt to the ground. I mounted the Assault gunboat, closed the cockpit hatch, and inserted my father’s Imperial Fondor CODEC id. Something that I ensured I kept hidden and safe for years. Launching from the platform and transmitting an Imperial ID on the Gunboat, the Admiral privately contacted me. I remember his words as clear as if they were said a few minutes ago, “Have you finally betrayed us old friend? I should have known this day would come sooner or later. But remember, no matter where you go, or what you become, the Void will sallow you whole. Even if that day is when you an I meet again in Hell.” At that very moment the Imperial Star Destroyer ‘’Relentless’’ exited hyperspace 2 klicks from the position of the Pirate flag ship and their support ships. The skirmish was quick and furious, no more than 15 minutes. I offered fighter support from my gunboat as I picked off any pirate transports trying to leave the area of battle. The theater of battle was again calm and the remnants of the pirate fleet were burning in space. I breathed a sigh of relief. The charade was over, my life, what was left of my life, was mine again. I received a hail from a confused ISD ‘’Relentless’’. I was “politely asked” to board their ship and stand by for clearance and investigation.

I was closely watched by EH security forces while in my private cell, which was in reality a nicely decorated brig. My story was being checked out and credentials verified with what remaining Imperial archives from Fondor were at their disposal. Sure enough, it checked out. The battle group commodore at the time, Rear Admiral Ricaud, met me in my cell and personally gave me my imperial clearance.  The commodore was impressed with my survival and persistent loyalty to the Empire. I reminded the commodore that it was thanks to the Rebels and the new founded “new republic” that I lost those years of my life. He extended an offer to me, to utilize my skills to serve the greater good with the Emperor’s hammer. It would be our chance to restore peace and order, and perhaps rid the galaxy of crime infested scum like that which I rubbed shoulders with for the worse years of my life.

After passing all the initial exams and flight tests, I was assigned back to the ISD ‘’Relentless’’ to Sword squadron. I was quickly assigned as Lieutenant and Flight leader to the squad. There I served with a young pilot who would save my butt on several close call missions, then Commander Marenta Jean.  My imperial career in the EH was a bright one. I certainly felt that I was a talented pilot. Thanks to my father, I had the natural charm and charisma to lead my fellow pilots and thanks for my mother had the brains to back it up. Ah yes, those were truly the glory days of the Emperor’s Hammer.

But I could never let her know that. We kept things professional on the flight decks and kept up a playful riverary, but behind the scenes a romantic relationship was quickly forming. We eventually were engaged to marry and the Grand Admiral himself offered to officiate the wedding. But I’d soon realize that our peace, and my personal struggle for a new life, was far from over.

It was around the year 12 ABY, and unbeknownst to us lowly Squad Commanders, that several high level officers and members of the brotherhood of the dark Jedi were planning treason among the fleet.  With little intel on the situation the ISD ‘’Relentless’’ was asked to investigate a planetary base that was the supposed source of coded transmissions of a this break away group that was threatening our beloved organization. Shield and Sword squads were asked to run air support as Hammer Fist forces prepared a low-level  invasion of the relay station on the planet. Everything seemed to be running along smoothly, according to plan, and I saw no real signs of danger. Yet, the chaos fell on us in a blink of an eye. In an instant several rouge Dark Brotherhood destroyers came out of hyperspace close to the planet and started bombardment in low orbit. Their orbital bombardment obliterated the Hammer Fist battalion that had landed on the planet’s surface. The hanger bays of the rouge destroyers poured out dozens of fighter squads as Shield and Sword squads scrambled to defend their flight mates and attack the enemy forces. In high orbit above the planet the ‘’Relentless’’ scrambled to provide support, but they were overwhelmed by the rouge forces. My eyes darted constantly to my HuD, I could see Major Litio Hasset’s indicator light turn from green, to yellow, to red. That’s when I heard the frantic voice of my fiancé on the other line scream as she ejected.

I ripped my TIE Defender from the sky in a 180 degree nose dive to track Litio’s last location. I could see the smoke and wreckage of her downed TIE Advanced, her pilot’s chair and parachute would be near by. As I closed range to her crash site I scuttled my fighter, self destructing and ejecting. As my chute deployed and adjustment thrusters engaged I was able to manually navigate my drop to where she crashed. Tearing out of my crash restraints on the escape pod I ran to where I saw Litios chute. Time seemed to slow, my breathing was deep and heavy. She was alive, barely alive. I actived my emergency distress signal to the ‘’Relentless’’ and the rest of sword squad but it was too late. The rouge dark Jedi were already making their rounds on the planet’s surface looking for survivors, the ‘’Relentless’’ had left the system in retreat with whatever squads were left to the main fleet. Litio and I were on our own to face some of our cruelest enemies I can recall. And it wasn’t long before we did face them. We were soon found by one of the leaders of the break away dark Jedi group and were tortured and questioned over the span of 3 weeks.

Those times were some of the darkest of my existence. I was left for dead by the dark Jesus. I slipped in and out of consciousness and remember being taken back to the local population’s camps. They were a primitive group of Primate like aliens. I lived among them for some time. My mind was broken and I had lost memory of who I was after the tortures received by the Dark Jedi. Time must have passed, some years and I eventually met a resource transport captain that ran frequent spice drops in the area. I nearly lost my mind again as I remembered the struggles of my childhood, being captured by pirates, serving the Imperial TIE corps of the Emperor’s hammer and loosing my true love to the hands of dark traitors. I was determined to right the wrongs that had taken so much for me, this was my second calling into the Imperial fold. My determination and loyalty to the Imperial ideals was stronger than ever. I was met on the SSD ‘’Avenger’’ by one of my long time friends and now Vice Admiral, Marenta Jean. And that medium, that vehicle is, the Emperor’s Hammer. After my pilgrimage back to the Aurora system and getting back into contact with EH high command I was able to reunite with the migrating fleet under the command of Grand Admiral Rapier. I was met on the SSD ‘’Avenger’’ by one of my long time friends and now Vice Admiral, Marenta Jean. After some time and reactivating my credentials I was reaccepted into the fleet, restoring my rank of Captain. Materna took me under her banner on the ISD ‘’Warrior’’ and I was assigned to Sin squadron. It is the year 30 ABY, and this is where my story begins once more...
