Missile Boat (MIS)

With a radically different appearance from the usual TIE series, the Missile Boat shares the same general profile as its predecessor, the Alpha-class XG-1 Star Wing, also known as the Assault Gunboat. The Missile Boat has enhanced capabilities that take it to another level of playfield, specifically designed under Grand Admiral Thrawn to combat the TIE Defenders under Zaarin’s rogue faction.

The Missible boat counts with a single laser cannon but two launches capable of carrying 20 advanced concussion missiles as default on each pod, and additional two general purpose pods that carry another load of advanced concussion missiles or another type of warhead.

To combat the Defender’s speed, it was the first model to formally use the SubLight Acceleration Motor (SLAM) system, now common place in most fighters It is also noticeable that its nominal flank speed is lower than other Superiority Fighters, so the reliance on the SLAM system requires a very skilled pilot to keep it under reigns. With the warheads at its disposal and extreme speeds, it could easily flank the enemies and barrage the enemy fighter screen from behind, making it a prime choice for superiority fighter.

However, even with its success, after the battle of Endor the Emperor ordered the removal of the Missile Boat from the Imperial Navy in general, only remaining in service in selected service, as in the Emperor’s Hammer Strike Fleet. Currently only 5 flights use the Missile Boat, one use Mark I and four use Mark II.
