Rear Admiral is the lowest command rank in the TIE Corps.
Its main use is as the appointment rank for the Commodore position. In current usage, both the Strategic Operations Officer and Dean of IWATS are promoted to the rank on appointment if they are not already in possession of a higher rank.
Although it is directly above General, it is not possible to be promoted to this rank.
