Exercise Cantina Run (or ECR as it was more commonly referred to) was an annual competition for the TIE Corps Battlegroups that determined the flagship of the battlegroup for the next year. The competition began in 1999 and ran yearly through 2005, with eight total iterations. During this time, it was regularly considered to be the premiere event for members of the TIE Corps Battlegroups, often overshadowing fleetwide events. The ISD Challenge was the winningest ship for this competition, winning half of all ECRs held.

Background
ECR was founded by Kessler as a competition to determine the TIE Corps Battlegroups flagship. As originally conceived, the competition took place over three phases: fiction, graphics, and flying. Because the TIE Corps Battlegroups was considered a "single-player battlegroup", the flying portion would typically consist of one or more a single player missions. The nature of which mission (or how many missions) would vary from ECR to ECR. Some ECRs incorporated additional and/or simultaneous phases including multiplayer and/or mission creation, but at a minimum, every ECR had some form of the base fiction, graphics, and flying phases.

In addition to designating a winning ship, ECR often acknowledged the best performing squadron as well. In some iterations, the top squad would be designated as the "BGCOM Escort Squadron" for the next year, with early iterations even changing the squadron's designation to "VIP Escort". This practice of changing squadron designation was discontinued after ECR II, but the title of "BGCOM's Escort Squadron" or some variation was a common occurrence for most iterations.

The time of year when ECR occurred varied greatly throughout its lifetime, with one year (2001) accounting for two ECR events. While there were eight ECR events in total, one particularly controversial ECR (ECR IV), which declared a winner without completion of all events, resulted in a second ECR (also designated "ECR IV") to be re-ran the following year, although the assignment of the winning ship (Immortal) as the flagship per the controversial ECR was upheld between ECRs.

History
ECR I
The first ECR was created in 1999 and ran by Kessler, with three phases: fiction, graphics, and flying. Competitors included the Challenge, Relentless, Colossus, and newly-commissioned Immortal.

It is generally believed that the Challenge was the victor of this initial run of the competition.

ECR II
The second ECR, occurring in 2000, continued with a similar ruleset as the first ECR, with the same three phases of fiction, graphics, and flying. Fiction and graphic submissions were required to be about events occurring in the Imperial Storm wargame, another event created by Kessler. Competitors again included the Challenge, Relentless, Colossus, and the Immortal.

The Immortal won the second ECR, with Typhoon Squadron winning BGCOM's Escort Squadron, resulting in its designation being changed to VIP Escort. This was the final ECR that resulted in a designation change for the top squadron.

ECR III
The third ECR ran from February 4th, 2001 through March 31, 2001, and was run by the Battlegroup Commander of the time, Jarak Maldon. Competitors included the Challenge, Relentless, Colossus, and the Immortal. First round was fiction, followed by graphics, followed by flying, with each round lasting two weeks. Fiction and graphic submissions were required to reflect something about the TIE Corps Battlegroups

For the flying round, each ship was able to choose their own free mission. Whichever average score was closest to the high score (or surpassed it) won. Points were given for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd (5, 3, 2), with additional points given as a participation bonus depending on how many pilots on the ship flew their mission (10 for 100%, 5 for 90%, 3 for 75%, 2 for 50%).

Selected missions were as follows (with the high score of the time listed as well):
* ISD Colossus: TIE-FREE #126 (HS: 42,607)
* ISD Relentless: TIE-FREE #100 (HS: 53,231)
* ISD Challenge: TIE-FREE #150 (HS: 163,045)
* ISD Immortal: XWA-FREE #5 (HS: 12,159)

The Relentless won ECR III, having dominated the first two rounds of the competition.

ECR IV (first)
The fourth ECR occurred during the fall of 2001 and was run by the Battlegroup Commander of the time, Adrenaline. Competitors included the Challenge, Relentless, Colossus, and the Immortal.

Unlike past ECRs, this ECR had four phases: fiction, mission design, graphics, and flying. Each round was supposed to last two weeks. Winning pilot submissions in each phase would earn points for their ships, with first place earning 15 points, second place earning 10 points, third place earning 5 points, and fourth place earning 3 points. Additionally, participation points would be awarded to ships per round based on percentage of participation, with 100% participation earning 10 points, 90%-99% earning 9 points, 80%-89% earning 8 points, 70%-79% earning 7 points, 60%-69% earning 6 points, 50%-59% earning 5 points, and 40%-50% earning 4 points. Finally, all submissions would be ranked each round, with the average rank value for each ship determining how many points the ship would get in addition to individual and participation points, with the ship with the highest averaged ranked submissions earning 35 points, second place earning 25 points, third place earning 15 points, and fourth place earning 10 points.

Like ECR II, all creative work submissions were required to be about the recent Imperial Storm, Imperial Storm II.

While records are incomplete about this competition, it is generally believed that the mission design phase was intended to feed into the flying phase. However, ultimately, only the fiction and graphics phases were graded, with the mission design phase left ungraded and the flying phase proceeding with standard mission compendium entries.

Nevertheless, the Immortal was declared the winner, achieving 100% participation in the final round and winning by a single point over the Colossus. This was highly controversial at the time, not only for the incomplete nature of the competition, but also because of rampant rumors and accusations of an "Immortal bias" directed towards then-BGCOM Adrenaline, who originated from the Immortal and had already faced complaints about such a bias even before ECR occurred. It did not help that this ECR event was conducted so soon after ECR III had completed, arguably short-changing the Relentless's time as flagship.

While the Immortal assumed position as the flagship of the TIE Corps Battlegroups, the results of this ECR were not recognized by many members of the battlegroup at that time, throwing doubt into whether or not the competition had a future.

ECR IV (second)
A second attempt at ECR IV was run during the fall of 2002 by then Battlegroup Commander Krax Tarnisar. In recognition of the controversy of the previous ECR, Krax designated this iteration of the competition as "ECR IV" in an attempt to invalidate the previous run, although he still recognized the Immortal as his flagship during this time.

This second iteration of ECR IV returned to the standard ECR formula, with a graphics, fiction, and flying phase, in that order, each lasting two weeks. The topic for the fiction phase called for writing some kind of history of the TIE Corps Battlegroups.

The Challenge was declared the winner of this iteration of ECR IV.

ECR V
The fifth numbered ECR started November 23rd, 2003 and ran through December 23rd, 2003, although results were not available until a month later. Devised by then Battlegroup Commander Krax Tarnisar and his self-appointed assistant BGCOM, Immortal Commodore Locke Setzer, ECR V set out to shake up the competition with a number of changes. Locke Setzer would be responsible for running this iteration of the competition, which for the final time would include the Challenge, Relentless, Colossus, and the Immortal as its competitors.

This iteration of the competition served as a round-robin tournament, consisting of four rounds whereby one ship would face off against the other, flying the assigned single player mission (a TIE mission and a XWA mission) and playing multiplayer matches against pilots of the opposing ship. Fiction and graphics were not relegated to any of these rounds, but instead ran for the entire competition, with submissions open for the entire month.

For the weekly ship vs. ship SP and MP rounds, scoring was based on how one ship performed against its opponent. For SP missions, for each platform (TIE and XWA), 15 points were awarded to the ship with the top scorer, 10 for the second place scorer, 5 for the third place scorer, and 1 for any other pilot that submitted an entry. For multiplayer matches, 4 points were awarded for a MP victory, while 2 points for participation in a MP match.

For graphic submissions, the given subject was to portray the ships of the TIE Corps Battlegroups working together to destroy a Rebel ship/outpost/planet/etc. 25 points were given to the ship with the top graphic submission, 20 points for second place, 10 points for third, and then 2 points for every individual pilot submission that did not place in the top three.

For fiction submissions, the prompt was to write a story about one of the ECR training exercises that is interrupted by an unforeseen event that makes things go terribly wrong. 25 points were given to the ship with the top fiction submission, 20 points for second place submission, 10 points for third place submission, and then 2 points for each individual pilot submission that did not place in the top 3.

Additionally, 30 points were given to each ship that "won" a round against its assigned opponent, as well as 20 points for whichever ship among all competitors had the most participation in a given round (regardless of who the opponent was).

The single player missions were custom built for the competition by Locke Setzer and Master, with Locke being responsible for the TIE missions and Master being responsible for the XWA missions. While not officially a part of the mission compendium at the time they were flown, they were later released as TIE-TC #224 (erroneously named "ECR IV - Training Maneuvers") and XWA-TC #42 (correctly named "ECR V - Training Maneuvers")

As competition organizer, Locke was barred from placement on any fiction or graphic entry (but was allowed participation points). Additionally, Locke and Master were barred from placement on the single player missions (as they were the creators of these missions), but were allowed participation points.

The competition did not run without controversy. Bugs with some of the XWA missions resulted in real-time patched versions, with some extended timelines for completion granted. After the flying portion was completed, the Relentless had a significant lead, but the fiction and graphic portions remained to be judged. However, both Locke and Krax became unavailable during this time, leading to extended waiting period for the results. Locke was ultimately declared AWOL and Krax resigned, leaving Relentless Commodore BubbaX to retrieve the fiction and graphic submissions from Locke and have them judged by independent TIE Corps members.

Ultimately, the Relentless was declared the winner of the competition, becoming the flagship of the TIE Corps Battlegroups for the second time.

ECR VI
The sixth numbered ECR started on October 22, 2004 and ran through December 3rd, 2004. This ECR returned to the more traditional format, with four rounds that included flying, fiction, graphics, and a return of mission creation. Initially launched by then Battlegroup Commander Mell Kerrigan, responsibility for completing the competition again fell on the shoulders of BubbaX, who assumed the BGCOM position midway through the competition. With the Immortal closed earlier that year, the competitors for ECR VI only included the Challenge, Relentless, and the Colossus.

The Challenge ultimately won ECR VI, resuming its role as flagship of the TIE Corps Battlegroups.

ECR VII
The seventh numbered ECR began on September 4th, 2005. This iteration of the competition was run by then Battlegroup Commander BubbaX. Competitors included the Challenge, Relentless, and the Colossus.

ECR VII returned to a ruleset similar to ECR V, albeit without the "ship vs. ship" round robin approach nor the multiplayer component. Four flying rounds were held, with one TIE free mission and one XWA free mission assigned for each round. ECR VII also included fiction, graphics, and mission creation submissions as well, but like ECR V, these submissions were accepted throughout the duration of the competition.

This competition was completely dominated by the Challenge, both in points scored in placement as well as in participation, completely overshadowing the other competitors. This spoke well for the Challenge, but not the state of the other ships in the TIE Corps Battlegroups.

Cyclone Squadron was awarded the title of BGCOM's Own as the best performing squadron in the competition.

The Challenge was again declared the flagship of the TIE Corps Battlegroups, a title it would retain for the remainder of the TIE Corps Battlegroups' life.

Biography
Matthew Brass, better known by “Matt”, was born on the remote planet of Pamarthe in the Outer Rim Territories, a world known for its pilots and their bravery. As a young man, Matt showed exceptional piloting skills, catching the attention of Imperial recruiters looking for promising candidates to fill the ranks of the Imperial Navy. At the age of 18, Matt eagerly enlisted and began his journey as a TIE Fighter pilot.

For four years, Matt Brass served the Galactic Empire with unwavering loyalty and skill. He quickly earned a reputation as a daring and ruthlessly effective pilot. However, after the Battle of Jakku and the subsequent fall of the Empire, Matt chose to retire from military service, seeking a quiet life away from the chaos that ensued.

During his time away, Matt settled on the peaceful planet of Batuu, where he met and married a fellow settler named Lorna. The couple built a modest life together, far removed from the conflict that had defined Matt's earlier years. Matt became a successful trader, and Lorna worked as a skilled mechanic in their small community. He had found peace with his wife, and the decided to start a family, eventually having two children.

The tranquility of Batuu was brutally shattered when a ruthless gang of space pirates, known as the Corsair Raiders, launched a surprise attack. Matt Brass, away on a trading mission, returned to find his home in ruins. In a desperate attempt to defend their settlement, Lorna and their two children courageously faced the pirate assault. Tragically, their valiant efforts were in vain, as the pirates mercilessly overwhelmed the defenders, resulting in the loss of Matt's entire family.

Consumed by grief and guilt, Matt withdrew from the world, isolating himself for years. The once vibrant and daring pilot became a recluse, drowning in memories of his lost love.

As the galaxy continued to change, with the rise of the First Order, Matt Brass found himself unable to escape the call of duty. The galaxy was once again embroiled in conflict, and the allure of the Imperial Navy proved too strong for the retired TIE Fighter pilot to resist. Fueled by a desire for purpose and a longing for the structured life he once knew, Matt made the difficult decision to return to the cockpit after 19 years of retirement.

Rejoining the Imperial Navy, Matt Brass brought not only his exceptional skills but a burning determination forged by the devastating loss of his wife and children. His return to the cockpit became a symbol of unyielding resilience against Rebel aggression. Matt's story was wielded as powerful propaganda by the burgeoning First Order, depicting him as a tragic hero who endured unimaginable personal loss at the hands of the chaos, reinforcing the narrative that only the Empire could bring stability and justice to the galaxy. Matt Brass's resolute return stood as a poignant testament to the enduring spirit of those who fought for the Galactic Empire, even in the face of devastating personal tragedy.
About
Lieutenant Jai Thorne is currently serving as Flight Leader of squadron Theta, of Battlegroup II, Wing II, on board the ISD Warrior II. (More to come;TBA)
Pre-Imperial Status
Jai Thorne heirs from the planet of Athulla, single child of Mrs. Obeek Thorne and Mr. Insard Thorne. His mother served as a communication represenative for a local transportation of personnel from inner planetary travels while his father served as a senior pilot among cargo goods for off planet businesses. Wanting to follow the footsteps of his father, he was eager to reach adulthood and fly amongst the stars as it seemed like a freeing occupation. Little did he know how dissapointing the job would actually be for him, early in his adult life he took flight courses and an took upon local flight routes to hopefully one day fly like his father before him. This job however did not meet or exceed his expectations for enjoyment. Being let down, he wanted to reach out to something more fulfilling, yet still being able to fly. Thus, when the New Order of the Empire emerged, his interest was boosted. From the information on recruitment posters, to seeing service personnel from all around, his excitement was once again re-established and Jai found his new desire. Saving up the credits he had earned previously, he took the next shuttle out and made his way to the Imperial Academy for basic training, and then to the Starfighter Corps for futher instruction and training.
Medal of Communication (MoC) Validation Tool
The MoC validation tool provides a system for automatically processing Medal of Communication awards based on monthly periods of validated eligibility. As of February 2024, monthly awards for the MoC should be processed through the MoC eligibility validation tool. For each month, authorized leaders can validate each member's eligibility for the MoC. The database system automatically awards MoCs based on these validated eligibility periods.

Usage
The MoC validation tool appears in the main management menu under the leadership functions section for members with permissions.

MoC validation permissions exist at three levels:

* Unit level, where a unit leader can see and validate eligibility for members in their unit(s) except themselves.
* Subgroup level, where authorized users can see all members with an active character in that subgroup.
* Global level, for authorized users to see all members.

The MoC tool displays:
* A date selector for changing to another monthly period.
* All members you have the ability to process.
* A selector to Validate the member’s eligibility, or Unvalidate previous eligibility if the validation was performed in error.
* The user who validated the eligibility. The MoC is awarded on a per-member basis. As a unit leader, if a member’s eligibility has already been marked by somebody else (even in another subgroup) there is no action required on your part.
* An indicator when validated eligibility has been awarded by the system. Once a MoC has been awarded for a member's eligibility period, the Unvalidate option is no longer available.

A member's eligibility for a monthly period may be marked at any time, either during the current month or after. MoCs are awarded for each period following the conclusion of that period. MoC awards processed on a daily basis.

* Example: If a member meets MoC eligibility requirements early in the month, the member's unit leader can validate eligibility in the middle of that month. At the conclusion of the month, MoC awards will be immediately issued.
* Example: A member's eligibility for a previous month is validated in the middle of a new month. Within 24 hours after validation for the previous month, the corresponding MoC will be awarded.

Implementing Instructions
* Before validating eligibility for January 2024 or earlier, manually verify whether the member has already received a MoC for the period(s) in question. Validating a member’s eligibility for a period in which they have already received a MoC will result in a duplicated award.

* Process all MoC awards for February 2024 and after through the new tool.

Ivan Rebelsmasher is a NPC of the MC-90 Renegade. They were created by Master as part of the Find a WC for Wing XXII competition.

Background
Marital Status
Unmarried. Being an asexual being and anatomically equivalent to a Ken doll, Ivan sees no purpose in engaging in the human institution of marriage but is a fair believer in platonic relationships and comradery.

Family
Very little is known about Ivan’s progenitor and any possible siblings. Due to their unique breeding habits BBMB are extremely rare across the galaxy.

When the time comes to spawn, the beard of the Big Bearded Mountain Being will fall off. Semi-sentient it will find a dark place to hide where it will nest. Always hungry it will devour any nearby prey that it can trap, ambush or surprise that fits within its hairy maw. Once it reaches it critical point it creates a chrysalis where it gestates into a larger being extremely similar too its parent. This process can take only a few days or sometimes decades, each event is slightly different.

Social Status
Well-to-do. Despises 'high society' but plays the part well.

Well-liked by the Admiralty as he is seen as an exceptional officer who follows orders despite Ivan’s rather unorthodox way of thinking and following said orders.

Significant events of their youth
Without any parental figures to guide it, the Big Bearded Mountain Being's early life is fraught with danger, constant threats, and incessant itching. From the moment it emerges from its chrysalis, until it reaches adulthood, the BBMB must constantly feed and grow in order to survive.

Each young BBMB, referred to as "spawn," grows at a unique pace, but bears a resemblance to a pre-pubescent human child before puberty (with the addition of body hair). They will stay in this stage until their first beard emerges, signifying their transition into adulthood.

Significant events of their adulthood
Once the BBMB grows a beard of sufficient length it is deemed an adult in the eyes of the species.

General alignment and attitude
Ivan is known to be a reliable and well-liked team member who can be trusted in times of crisis, often seen as way too honourable and respectable for this business. Despite that, Ivan has a wicked sense of humour and is known as someone not to cross or worse, betray.

Previous occupations
* Pirate
* Smuggler
* Always a Rebel Smasher!

Hobbies
* Knitting
* Beards
* Smashing Rebel Scum!

Tragedies in their life
The BBMB doesn’t see life’s challenges and setbacks in life as ‘Tragedies’. Instead, it sees them as valuable lessons and opportunities to grow and adapt.

Phobias and allergies
* The BS of the Rebel machine.
* Has terrible hay fever one day a year, every year, on the same day.
* Unimpressed by sock puppets.

Their view of the Empire and the Emperor's Hammer
At some point, Ivan was living on the backwater world of Kataara II. Imperial Occupied, the population was happy for the most part and uninterested in galactic affairs.

Then the Rebel Alliance arrived - spreading their message of freedom.

Despite best efforts, it was the impressionable youth who were the first to enlist, as they always are. Attempting to find purpose and rage against something they do not truly understand.
The Imperial garrison swiftly and effectively crushed the uprising, making an example of all those involved through public executions. After this display of force, life returned to normal for the rest of the population.

Months later the Rebel Alliance once again tried to sell their message of freedom, the population unwilling to annoy their Imperial overlords, quite happy with their world (until the previous nastiness which was ultimately caused by the Rebels) wanted no part in their madness.

The Rebels refusing to give up, the Imperials watching closely, the situation was very tense. One spark would set things off… and they did.

Ivan sat in a nondescript cantina, sipping on a rather tasty drink as rowdy members of the Rebel Alliance began making offensive remarks. They insulted everyone they could think of before turning their attention to the locals. When they targeted Ivan, it proved to be their fatal mistake.

By the end of short but extremely impressive melee the entire squad of Rebel’s had been grievously injured and Ivan would be known as "Rebelsmasher" to the end of days.

Their reason for enlisting in the Emperor's Hammer
It wasn’t until after the Battle of Endor that Ivan joined the Empire and EH. After the Empire had been defeated at Endor, Ivan had been wandering the galaxy aimlessly. Displeased with the Rebels victory and increasing presence in the galaxy Ivan had been looking for a purpose.

Stumbling across the EH pummelling the Rebels in the Minos Cluster inspired Ivan into joining and dedicate their life to further Rebel Smashing.

A surprisingly exceptional pilot Ivan joined Infiltrator Wing, serving on both the MC-90 Neo and MC-90 Warspite as a FM and later Commander of Black Squadron and Phoenix Squadron.

At 14ABY Ivan had to take a leave of absence to resolve a personal matter and upon their return in 31ABY Ivan found the beloved IW a shadow of its former self.

After participating in a drinking competition and having a profound conversation with the notorious General Master and they had both recovered (and Master had undergone the standard disapproval talk with WC Elara), Ivan had a newfound purpose in life.

He sought an audience with the mighty VA Locke Setzer, recently promoted BGCOM of Battlegroup III and unofficial IWCOM and respectfully requested to be given the illustrious role of Wing Commander for Wing XXII onboard the MC-90 Renegade.

Although impressed, Locke decided to defer the decision-making to Wing X's WC, Denys Elara. Elara had been acting as WC for Wing XXII until a permanent replacement could be found and had reach the end of her rope by fulfilling both roles and trying to stay one step ahead of GN Master’s madness.

As a test, Elara tasked Ivan with keeping GN Master out of any trouble during VA Locke’s promotion celebration scheduled to take place in two days’ time. Good to one’s word, the celebration went off without any issues and Master was on surprisingly good behaviour.

Notable Features
It is said on some worlds they sing the tale of "The Rebelsmasher". Perhaps one day these tales will be proven.

Background
Marital Status
Golm Ha'lya has been repeatedly divorced.

Family
Estranged, following his desertion

Social Status
Middle-class

Significant events of his youth
Subject to significant prejudice based on the accepted 'untrustworthiness' of the species on his homeworld of Hosnian Prime, leading to increasingly provocative behaviour as a youngster - culminating in brief incarceration on the grounds of 'public order offences detrimental to the Empire' and a savage beating by security troopers that left significant scarring to his face, muzzle and torso

Significant events of his adulthood
Joined the Hosnian flight academy not long after it's establishment by the New Republic in 5ABY, following the Battle of Jakku. Excelling as a pilot, he struggled to comply with the inane and petty bureaucracy of the New Republic military even after joining his first assignment on the Home One - leading to his theft of an A-Wing and subsequent desertion in search of a more interesting lifestyle. Finding his way to the EH around 10ABY, he enlisted as much to protect himself from multiple bounties and grudges that had followed him from sector to sector and he's never been clear what he did to make ends meet between his employ with either side's military.

General alignment and attitude
Nominally Imperial, but with a studied ambivalence that tends to cause friction with more traditional officers

Previous occupations
New Republic Fighter Pilot

Hobbies
Manipulating his fellow officers into power struggles and useless competitions

Tragedies in their life
He would cite his marriages, but the order of which was more tragic tends to change based on his mood

Phobias and allergies
Rodians, on both counts

His view of the Empire and the Emperor's Hammer
Studiously neutral in most things as befits a Bothan, he looks positively on the EH as a more nuanced form of the Empire that enables peace and order, but without the human supremacist element
Lycas 'Rider' Kolbeth is a NPC of the MC-90 Renegade. He was created by Caius Lao Bistail as part of the Find a WC for Wing XXII competition.

Background
Marital Status
Lycas 'Rider' Kolbeth is single.

Family
No significant familial ties at the present time. Lycas's father is unknown and he does not keep contact with his mother ever since his first imprisonment in Arabanth.

Social Status
While living in Arabanth, Lycas was considered a third-rate citizen for a variety of factors, including his gender, his disfigured appearance and his short stature. He was frequently made into a scapegoat and then imprisoned, to the point he wanted to get away from the planet as soon as possible.

Significant events of his youth
When Lycas was twelve years old, he ended up taking shelter in a building owned by Kythara Ty'Eth, an up-and-coming businesswoman known for her ruthless tactics and less-than-legal deals for the sake of profit. Kythara, worried that Lycas had either stolen some of her merchandise or uncovered information that could damage her reputation, had the boy apprehended and arrested for countless charges, including larceny and ideological association with the extinct Lorell Raiders. Although Lycas did not receive the death penalty at the time owing to his age, he faced extensive imprisonment coupled with severe physical punishment that disfigured his body.

Significant events of his adulthood
Unwilling to be hostage to the culture of his planet or the limits of his body, Lycas began to focus on mechanical engineering and body-machine integration techniques in secret, planning to leave Arabanth as soon as possible. Although he knew he could never sell his inventions publicly without being accused of intellectual property theft, Lycas banked on the fact that one day he'd be able to be recognised for the value of his work rather than other superficial traits.

His main invention was the development of a haptic feedback helmet that gave him precise tactile information on any type of electromagnetic radiation, including light, that reached the visor; his invention made use of variables such as temperature and intensity in order to indicate the strength of the received radiation, its nature or colour, and other important qualitative observations. After creating that prototype, Lycas knew that maybe this was his ticket to leave Arabanth - although his poor night vision would likely have disqualified him from taking part in the Emperor's Hammer previously, he knew that he had a chance of fighting with the same level of ability - if not a higher one - once he perfected his invention.

General alignment and attitude
"Value is only present in the world you can touch" is a statement that describes Lycas's personality well; rather than believing in words and diplomacy, he considers that only tangible acts and physical objects can be trusted. Owing to his past, Lycas is extremely cynical and does not value typical human emotions such as love or loyalty, believing that people are bound to change their worldview as soon as following their personal code becomes inconvenient. It is also based on this reasoning that Lycas tends to rely more on collective systems, believing that an individual person may be fickle but a group will not change its beliefs overnight.

Previous occupations
Before joining the Emperor's Hammer, Lycas sold both mechanical parts and assembled machines to a wide array of people, regardless of their allegiance. As long as they had money and could keep a secret, Lycas would have something for them.

Hobbies
Besides mechanical engineering itself, Lycas is also a fan of puzzles and playing a variation of the jett organ that he invented.

Tragedies in their life
In order to avoid any negative associations that could harm her social standing, Lycas's mother cut all ties with him and publicly endorsed Kythara's stance when criminal charges were brought up; some argue that having his own mother speaking against him was one of the determinant factors in how severe his punishment was at the time. The unfair criminal charges and the abandonment by his mother led Lycas to a feeling of solitude and an overall contempt for people, especially those belonging to the Hapans.

Phobias and allergies
Lycas has mild haphephobia (fear of being touched) and may reflexively turn around to punch people who touch his back.

His view of the Empire and the Emperor's Hammer
To Lycas, the Empire was a chance to start anew without being bound by others' perception on who he was. Although he was not trusting enough to believe that they would see past his appearance or status at first, the recognition of his successes with promotions and awards gave him some hope, no matter how slight, that he was at the right place. He also defends that being on his own inside a spacecraft gives him the freedom to not worry about how others perceive him; Lycas unironically states that "when I am piloting, my pronouns are X/Y/Wing", referring to both the overshadowing of his personhood by his duty and the fact he's able to be perceived as more than a "good-for-nothing breeder male" when inside a cockpit.

His reason for enlisting in the Emperor's Hammer
Lycas simply wanted to live in a place where he was not set up for failure or considered lower-class exclusively based on the randomness of his birth, and the Emperor's Hammer was the first opportunity he had to try this new life. Although he expected that he'd still be subject to the prejudiced judgement of others, Lycas figured he had nothing to lose in Arabanth and that if push came to shove he could just bail on the Emperor's Hammer if he was as miserable as he had been on his birth planet. Luckily for Lycas, this day never came.
Lockesetzerhttps://wiki.emperorshammer.org/Wingy_McWingcommandersonWingy McWingcommanderson2024-02-11T19:24:19Z
Lockesetzer: Created page with " Wingy McWingcommanderson is a NP..."

Family
Blackadder's parents allegedly are to have been killed by the Partisans around 6 BBY

Social Status
Middle-class

Significant events of his youth
Parents were allegedly killed around 6 BBY, entered Myomar Academy in 3 BBY but was elevated to the Royal Imperial Academy for distinction on exams.

Significant events of his adulthood
Qualified as both a political officer and a TIE bomber pilot 1 ABY, assigned to ISD Valorous, an Imperial-I class Star Destroyer. ISD Valorous was badly mauled by the Rebel fleet at Endor in 4 ABY. It should be noted that while serving as political officer, he seemed to have a knack for being chosen for TIE Bomber pilot duties in Thrawn's campaign against Zaarin. A sense of danger would tend to make his hands itch, causing him to react to threats by trying to run away. But in the process, on death ground he would seem to get a lucky shot or two, causing his legend to rise in the campaign, second to Stele. It was decided that the Star Destroyer would be scuttled so Blackadder joined Grand Admiral Ronin's Emperor's Hammer Strike Wing.

He first served as Political Officer on the ISDII Challenge but once again found himself back in the cockpit to the extent of working his way up the ranks, wholly expecting to get to a place where he could remain on the Star Destroyer, safe and snug. Eventually on 32 ABY, Blackadder was tapped as Wing Commander of Wing X, torn away from Tornado Squadron to the chagrin of Denys Elara, the outgoing Wing Commander, one of the few not 'blinded' by the legend of Cia-Cia-Ciaphas Blackadder, Hero of the Empire. Or perhaps she was put off by the scent coming from his aide.

General alignment and attitude
He sees himself as a poor, pathetic coward concerned solely with his well-being and escaping responsibility. However, he seems to have 'failed upward' and taken it in stride, as it seems luck (it was confirmed supposedly not to be the Force after Darth Surgo hurriedly tested Blackadder so that he didn't have to catch his aide's whiff.) follows him. In actuality Blackadder seems to have Imposter Syndrome and may actually be brave, courageous albeit lazy.

Previous occupations
Political officer in the Imperial Navy

Hobbies
Calibrating his 411 Hold-Out Blaster Pistol and taking care of a lightsaber that his aide somehow 'acquired'.

Tragedies in their life
He would say his entire life is a tragedy but realistically his parents died in Imperial service in 3 BBY. He shut the memory out and seemed to have cemented it while at Royal Imperial to the extent where he couldn't recall what world he actually came from.

Phobias and allergies
Death namely, otherwise essentially impostor syndrome

His view of the Empire and the Emperor's Hammer
The Empire is essentially the successor to the Republic, and the Emperor's Hammer Strike Force is the successor to the Galactic Empire. Ultimately, he can't be bought off or cajoled to switch sides.

His reason for enlisting in the Emperor's Hammer
Essentially Blackadder hopped from a dying ISD-I over to Ronin's service. Self-preservation, a want for continued service? Who knows?
Lockesetzerhttps://wiki.emperorshammer.org/Enrina_DrosaEnrina Drosa2024-02-11T19:03:13Z
Lockesetzer:

Family
Father was a upper level manager at Sienar Systems Advanced Projects Laboratory overseeing aspects of the TIE Defender project. When the Rebels "liberated" the planet he lost his job and status. His service to the Empire caused him to be forever ostrizied by the "enlightened" new rulers of the planet.

Social Status
Her father's ostracizing from society caused her family to go from being very wealthy and influential to near poverty in the matter of months. She grew up knowing that everything could be taken away from you in an instant.

Significant events of her youth
The loss of her family's status when she was very young forever tainted the Rebels and New Republic for her. She grew up hand to mouth and never wants to go back to that again.

Significant events of her adulthood
When she was 18 she had saved/stolen enough money to get transport off Lothal and into the wider galaxy. Over the next 5 years she drifted from one "pilot job" to another trying to make her way in a hostile galaxy. Finally, she learned of a last bastion of order in the chaotic galaxy that is the Emperor’s Hammer and stole her employer's prized YT-2000 freighter to make her way to the EH.

She immediately enlisted upon arrival and has steadily worked her way up the EH command positions into her current position as head of the Infiltrator Wing. She got this role in part due to her deep familiarity with the New Republic designs after being raised on a NR world and her experience as a pilot and smuggler.

General alignment and attitude
Enrina firmly believes that the New Republic represents chaos and disorder. While the Empire can be harsh, it is necessary for everyone to know their place in life.

Previous occupations
* Smuggler
* Cargo freighter pilot
* Bartender
* Thief

Hobbies
Drinking contests with General Master and gambling

Tragedies in their life
* The Liberation of Lothal
* Death of the Emperor

Phobias and allergies
Going back to poverty

Her view of the Empire and the Emperor's Hammer
Only the Empire can offer the order and structure needed by the galaxy to resist the forces of chaos and allow the galactic civilization to advance into a new era.

Her reason for enlisting in the Emperor's Hammer
To make it so that she never has to feel unsure of her place in the galaxy again.

Additional Details
Unlike so many from the Outer Rim who came from a family in the Imperial service, Enrina never attempted to cultivate a false Coruscanti accent, but has a pan-galactic accent developed from her years among the diverse populous of Lothal and later, the smuggling world.
Lockesetzerhttps://wiki.emperorshammer.org/House_PalpatineHouse Palpatine2024-01-29T22:03:23Z
Lockesetzer: Created page with " House Palpatine is currently the sole House of House_Drakonan | Clan Drakona..."

A new custom-built Modified Corvette has been constructed for the Recon Officer's use on extended
recon missions... The EH Reconnaissance Officer (CS-12), AD Doomsday
personally designed the specifications detailed below...

The Hammer has taken delivery of a new Modified Corvette from Shadow Works. This new craft has been designed to fill a specialized covert operations role in the Emperor's Hammer. Among its duties will be monitoring Rebel movements, insertion/extraction of operatives, long range exploration, and electronic intelligence gathering. The Phantom will be used by the Recon Officer, his Assistant, or the ISB Liaison Officer when on assignment.

While the new craft, named the Phantom, superficially resembles the veteran Corellian crafts, this craft is some twenty meters longer and five meters wider than the standard Modified Corvettes. Imperial Engineers took a stock Modified corvette and increased the hull size in order to provide for larger engines, increased firepower, and a heavier hull. The new KDY-0541c propulsion system has drastically increased the ship's top sublight speed to between 42 and 45 MGLT depending on how the craft is loaded."

Sensor Countermeasures
Hull coated with Sensor Absorbing Materiel (SAM)
Morph-Matrix Transponder
Low observability color scheme
Orbital Nightcloak
Usage: Restricted to Reconnaissance Officer and his/her Assistant, and the ISB Liaison Officer except
with direct authorization from the Fleet Commander.

Special Features
The exterior hull has been coated with a low-observability sensor absorbing material giving the ship an
extremely low sensor-cross section, making it appear as a sensor ghost. In addition, the craft has been
fitted with a Morph-Matrix Transponder allowing the ship's transponder to be changed to that of any
type of vessel, or simply de-activated, in the event that the ship is detected and scanned with an
interrogator. (see p.232, Star Wars Universe Book by Bill Slavicsek) The ship is also equipped with an
Orbital Nightcloak prototype for atmospheric operations.

Fighters
While Modified Corvettes have the capacity to carry 1 fighter in their bays, since the Phantom has an
increased hull size, that number has been increased to three. In addition, an external rack has been
added to allow an additional three fighters to be carried externally, giving the Phantom a total fighter
complement of six. However, since fighters mounted on external racks are not coated with the sensor-
absorbing materiel (SAM), fighters are not carried externally unless the situation warrants it. The
Phantom carries one Phalanx-Interceptor Gunboat, one TIE Defender, and one Escort Shuttle. (All of
which are coated with the SAM)

Sensors
The Phantom has been fitted with special sensor analyzers that are capable of detecting, tracking, and
analyzing over 1,000 independent targets simultaneously. The Phantom can also detect and track
jumps to Hyperspace, as well as map systems, and analyze other stellar phenomenon. The Phantom
also has a large communications setup for intercepting and decoding enemy messages. The
Phantom's communications array is capable of intercepting a message, determining the origin and
destination, and decoding any one of over 4 billion encryption schemes, as well as translating
messages in foreign languages into Basic.

Weaponry
The Phantom's Turbolaser system has been overhauled to produce a higher fire rate (approximately
1.8 times greater) and is capable of tracking the fastest Rebel and Imperial Targets. Three turbolasers
have been added, in addition to an additional warhead launcher.
Defensive Systems:
The new powerplant has generated higher amounts of power, giving the shields a higher rating of 150
SBD as opposed to 100 SBD for the standard Modified Corvette. The Hull has also been beefed-up to
75 RU.

Crew
The Phantom carries a larger crew than the standard Modified Corvette, with a total of 120
crewmembers. In addition, the Phantom carries a special compliment of 15 CompForce and 15 ISB
technicians to man the special equipment. There is also a contingent of 20 Zero-G stormtroopers on
the ship for greater defense against boarding, and for covert operations.

Hyperdrive
The Phantom has been fitted with a high-speed jump engine, which allows it to make rapid jumps. The
Phantom only requires two minutes recharge between jumps, and it's nav computer is capable of
quickly calculating multiple jumps in less than five seconds.
TheBlackxRangerhttps://wiki.emperorshammer.org/X-Wing_Alliance_Advanced_Mission_CreationX-Wing Alliance Advanced Mission Creation2024-01-19T17:42:58Z
Jaggedfelliii: /* Asteroids */

Introduction
This guide’s purpose is to document is one place as many details about the design of a X-Wing Alliance (XWA) as possible. It is not meant to replace the Imperial University courses of Mission Creation and Beta Testing Standards (MCBS) or X-Wing Alliance Mission Design (XAM). This guide will be made to show the functions of YOGEME (Ye Olde Galactic Empire Mission Editor) and guide how utilize its features.

XWA Mission Design Limitations
Of the X-Wing series games, XWA, being the newest, has the least restrictive design limitations, but it still does have limitations. Some of the limits will be repeated in this guide when appropriate but will also be all listed below for a quick, single reference.

*You are allowed up to 4 regions, connected via hyperspace buoys
*No branching story options or permadeath options for units
*Audio files must be less than 22,050 Hz and 16-bit WAV file format
*Maximum number of craft per region at one time cannot exceed 96 or new ones will not spawn
**Ejected pilots and escape pods count against this limit and therefore any mission where you may be close to the 96 craft limit should select “No Escape Pods/Ejections” as one of the status options for enemy allied craft
*Maximum number of Flight Groups per mission file of 192
*Maximum number of different model files per mission of 22
*Maximum number of AI fired lasers and warheads in-space at one time of 64
*Maximum number of explosions at one time of 32
*Maximum number of “Space Objects” of 128 per region
**Space Objects are:
***Asteroids
***Mines
***Backdrops
***Etc.
*Maximum of 64 radio messages
**Maximum character limit for each radio message of 68
*Non-animated briefing character limit of ~4,000
*Animated Briefing
**Total event limit of ~1,000
**Character limit of ~215 per caption text
*Maximum craft per wave for a FG of 6
**You can have more craft than 6 in a FG but the formations start having overflow issues that will cause problems
*You cannot use the GU of 41

Getting Started
Readme File
Every Emperor’s Hammer custom battle or free mission submission must include a Readme file containing specific information and instructions. See MCBS for more details.

MISSION.LST
You will need to create a custom MISSION.LST file to tell the game the file names for your missions to be able to play. For XWA the Emperor’s Hammer requires all custom battles to be Battle 8 and the first mission to be number 53. See XAM for more details on how to make this file.

YOGEME Setup
Download and install, following the installation instructions included with it, YOGEME. If your XWA game directory is installed in the default Programs folder on the C Drive, or still has write protections applied to it from where it was copied, set YOGEME to run in Administrator Mode, otherwise it will not be able to edit mission files. Launch YOGEME and go to Tools -> Options menu.
[[Image:Options.png|center|
YOGEME Options Menu
]]
*Overall Tab
**You have many different selection boxes to control the behavior of YOGEME
***For the most part you can leave all the settings at their default values.
[[Image:Options-Overall.png|center|
YOGEME Options Menu-Overall Tab
]]
*Map Tab
**You can customize the behavior of the region map window when you initially launch it
[[Image:Options-Wireframe.png|center|
YOGEME Options Menu-Wireframe Tab
]]
*XWA Tab
**You will be able to select the file path of the XWA root directory for the copy of XWA that you are doing mission creation for. It is critical that you set this file path correctly as many of the functions of YOGEME depend on reading files from the XWA root directory
***If you change the file path for the root directory, you will need to close YOGEME and reopen to allow it to properly read the data it needs
**You can select the default craft type and IFF for all new craft
[[Image:Options-XWA.png|center|
YOGEME Options Menu-XWA Tab
]]
*Colors Tab
**You can customize the appearance of YOGEME in a limited manor
Flight Groups
You will spend most of your time when creating a mission on this master tab. This tab with all of its sub tabs is how you will add and modify all the craft, object, and backdrops in your mission. And where you will set their behavior and FG level mission goals.

The first thing to know about this tab is how to interpret the craft list on the left.
*The color of the FG shows what IFF has been selected for the FG (Red=Imperial, Green=Rebel, etc.).
*The first number is what Team the FG belongs to.
*The second number is the Global Group that the FG belongs to.
*The third and fourth numbers indicate the number of waves and the number of craft per wave for the FG
*The first part of the text string tells what the craft type is for the FG (X-W=X-Wing, T/D= TIE Defender, etc.)
*The second part of the text is the Name of the FG. This is the name that will be displayed in game on the CMD.
*If there is a number at the end of the text in < >, that indicates there is more than one FG of the same name and type and Global Unit, but that the check box for Prevent GU Numbering has been activated for the FG. This will still happen, even if the FG are set to different difficulties. The number tells you which one in the list the FG is (higher on the list, lower the number).
*If there is a number at the end of the text in a ( ), indicates the Global Unit of the FG.
*Finally, the letter in the [ ] at the end indicates on what difficulty the FG will appear
**No letter in [ ] means it will always be present, no matter the difficulty
**[E] means it will only be present on Easy difficulty
**[M] means it will only be present on Medium difficulty
**[H] means it will only be present on Hard difficulty
**[>E] means it will only be present on Medium or Hard difficulties
**[<H] means it will only be present on Easy or Medium difficulties

Craft
[[Image:Flight_Groups-Craft.png|center|
Flight Groups Tab - Craft Tab
]]
*Starting at the top left area of the tab you first have the Name Field
**This is the name that will appear in game on the CMD for the craft in the FG.
**The name is limited to a total of 19 characters.
*Below the Name Field you have the Cargo Field
**This is the cargo that will appear in the CMD when the craft is inspected
**Cargos are not shown for fighter size craft in the CMD but they do have them and can either Board to Give their cargo or be boarded to have the cargo taken.
**Cargo is limited to no more than 16 characters
*Below Cargo is where you can create a Special Ship with a Special Cargo
**By default the Special Ship # is set to 0 (zero) which means there is no designated Special Ship in the FG.
**To make a Special Ship either set the Special Ship # to the craft that you want or activate the Random checkbox on the right
***This will activate the Special Cargo field where you can enter the name of the unique cargo that only that one craft in the FG will carry.
***The Special Ship also has the ability to be used for different triggers for Goals or arrival of different craft, orders, or radio messages.

*On the top right area of the tab you first have the # of waves Field
**This is where you specify how many waves, or groups of the same craft, of the FG will appear in the mission
**While the FG might have a delay on its Arrival Trigger, each wave will spawn immediately after all the craft in the FG of the previous wave have been destroyed or have all Gone Home
***As such, great care should be taken when using waves that the FG does not have a condition that will have it Go Home or Depart before the mission has ended.
*Next there is the # of craft Field
**This is where you specify the number of craft in each wave of the FG.
***All craft will appear at the same time and will be in the Formation (see below) specified on their arrival.
*In the top right you have the Global Group Field
**This is where you specify which Global Group the FG belongs to.
*Next you have the Global Unit Field
**This is where you specify which Global Unit the FG belongs to.
*Finally, you have the Prevent GU Numbering check box
**This option allows you to specify that a FG should not have a number appended to it name when a part of a GU that is not 0.
***This is useful for named craft that you want to be a part of a GU for a control (radio commands) or trigger/goal reasons.

*On the bottom left area of the tab you first have the Craft Type Field
**This is a drop-down selection window where YOGEME will list every craft in the ship list of the XWA installation you have selected in the Options Menu.
***Craft names that have a * before them are basically blank and should not be used, even if they have a name/description associated with them
***Craft names that have a + after them are craft that have been added via a mod.
****This is a good way to see that you are using a mod craft and that you will need to specify that mod be used when playing the mission.
*Next you have the IFF Field
**This controls what color the craft will appear as in the CMD in game. Also, the color of its arrival notification in the message log will be.
**This DOES NOT control whether a craft is considered a friend, neutral, or enemy in game
**This IS a way to designate targets for Orders or other triggers.
**You can set the name of each IFF color on the Mission2 Tab
*Next you have the Team Field
**This how you designate what team a FG will be considered as
***This controls whether a craft is marked as Friendly, Neutral, or Enemy in game, but does not directly control who AI will attack as FGs can be ordered to attack any other group
****This does control when you get the automatic message of "You have fired on a friendly craft"
***You set the names of teams and which teams are friendly, neutral, and enemies to each other in the Teams Tab
*Next you have the AI skill Field
**This controls the AI level at NORMAL difficulty settings
***See Difficulty Settings for how AI level automatically changes for the difficulty settings
**The skill levels are:
***Novice
***Officer
***Veteran
***Ace
***Top Ace
***Super Ace
**The skill level controls at what distance the FG will start firing at a target, how effective they are at pursuing and evading opponents, and how likely they are to fire as a whole FG at a single target
*Next you have the Markings Field
**In the base XWA game, you have four colors that you can pick from for a FG.
***Colors apply to a designated area on the craft model and not to all markings on the flight model.
*Next you have the Player Field
**XWA missions can be made to be used in multi-player Co-op and PvP type missions, but this guide will not go into detail on how to utilize that functionality as the base XWA game can not be used in Co-op.
**For the purposes of EH missions this field is either:
***AI - For all craft other than the player
***1 - For the FG that the player is to be a part of
*Next you have the Player Position Field
**This controls what craft of the FG the player will be (i.e. Alpha 2, Alpha 3, Alpha 4, etc)
***You would think that (Default) would mean position 1 but it doesn't. The default position is 2
****The only way to have the player in the first position of the FG naming is to use a [https://wiki.emperorshammer.org/X-Wing_Alliance_Advanced_Mission_Creation#Global_Groups_and_Units GU} and have the player in a separate FG of 1 craft placed highest of the GU in the list in the editor.
*Next you have the Formation Field
**This is where you select what formation the FG will fly in when arriving via hyperspace or flying through waypoints
**For XWA there are 34 possible formations for a FG to use. See below for discussion of the Forms window for more details
*Next you have the Radio Field
**Again, XWA has the ability to be made to support multi-player missions but it is currently not supported
**It was thought that this controlled whether a FG would respond to the players commands via the keyboard shortcut commands (Shift+A, Shift+C, etc.) or the Flight Commands tab in game, but through testing it has been determined that the real controlling factor is whether the FG is in the same GU as the player craft or not.
*Next you have the Leader spacing and FG spacing Fields
**These control the distance between craft in the formation
*Finally, you have the Forms... Button [[Image:FG_Formation.png|thumb|right|
FG Formation Dialog
]]
**This opens a window where you will be able to see a preview of the flight formations of a FG
***The Top Left region shows the Top Down view of the FG Formation
***The Bottom Left region shows the Rear view of the FG Formation
***The Bottom Right region shows the Side view of the FG Formation
***The Top Right region discusses the limitations of Formations
****No matter the selected formation, a FG of 3 or less craft exiting a hanger will use the Vic formation with a spacing of zero. All FG with 4 or more craft per wave will use a Double Astern formation with a spacing of zero.
****Formations are limited to a maximum of 6 craft per wave.
*****Formations with 7 or more craft will overflow into the next formation type.
**The Center formation in panel check box toggles where the preview formation is displayed in the three regions.
**The drop down menu is where you can change the Formation being used by the FG.
**The Spacing: Field is where you control the distance between the craft in the FG Formation.
**The Count: Field is where you put in how many craft in the preview formation. The number of craft in the preview is not controlled by the number of craft in the active FG, only this field.
**Formations are useful in controlling the appearance of the craft in your mission and how coordinated their grouping look.
***Also, very useful to space out formations exiting from hyperspace to prevent the player from being able to destroy multiple craft with a single or dual fired warhead.

*In the middle right area of the tab you first have the Status and Status 2 Fields
**These fields are identical and allow you to select up to two special conditions for the FG from a possible list of 28 options
***Normal: This is the default value and makes no change to the FG
***2x Warheads: This gives the FG the ability to carry twice the normal amount of warheads
****Most useful for bomber units or the Player's FG if you want them to either have a lot of missiles or perform a heavy bomber role.
***1/2 Warheads: This gives the FG the ability to carry only half the normal amount of warheads
****Most useful in limiting the amount of warheads the player has available in mission
*****Can be negated by the player using infinite ammo cheat in game
***No Shields:
****For craft that normally have shields, this option removes their shields
****For craft that normally do not have shields (i.e. T/F, T/I, etc) this adds a shield system to the craft that starts the mission at 0% and allows them to charge up to the maximum 200%
***1/2 Shields:
****For craft that normally have shields, this option reduces their shields to 50% and does not allow for charging
****For craft that normally do not have shields (i.e. T/F, T/I, etc) this adds a shield system to the craft that starts at 50% and allows them to charge up to the maximum 200%
*****For normally unshielded player craft this option adds a shield system but starts at 0% and allows full charging
***No Lasers:
****This removes the ability for a freighter FG to fire on attackers automatically but they are able to attack targets that they have a direct attack order for.
****This has no effect on fighter craft as they do not have automatic turrets.
****This has no effect on capital ships.
****This is useful in preventing a freighter from being able to intercept incoming warheads, and therefore putting more pressure on the player to defend them.
***No Hyperdrive: This has no effect for AI craft, but if active for a player craft they will not be able to use hyper buoys.
***Shields 0%, charging:
****For craft that do not have a shield system this option has no effect
****For fighter craft that have a shield system this sets the shields to 0% at the start and allows for them to charge up to 200%
****For craft that do not recharge shields (non-fighters) only sets shields to 0%, no charging occurs in mission
***Shields added (200%):
****For normally unshielded craft this adds shields at 100% and allows fighters to charge up to 200%
****For normally shielded craft this sets the shields to 100% and for fighters allows them to charge up to 200%
***Hyperdrive added: This has no effect for AI craft, but if the player is in a craft that normally not able to enter hyperspace would be able to use the hyper buoys if this option is active.
****T/F, T/I, T/B are not normally able to use hyper buoys.
***2x Countermeasures: This gives the FG the ability to carry twice the normal amount of countermeasures
****Most useful for the Player's FG if you have a lot of enemies with missiles that will be attacking them.
***1/2 Countermeasures: This gives the FG the ability to carry only half the normal amount of countermeasures
****Most useful in limiting the amount of warhead defense the player has available in mission
*****Can be negated by the player using infinite ammo cheat in game
***(200% Shields):
****For normally unshielded craft this has NO EFFECT
****For normally shielded craft this sets the shields to 200% at the start of the mission. Only fighters are able to recharge shields if damaged.
***Shields 50%, charging:
****For craft that do not have a shield system this option has no effect and they will still not have shields
****For fighter craft that have a shield system this sets the shields to 50% at the start and allows for them to charge up to 200%
****For craft that do not recharge shields (non-fighters) only sets shields to 50%, no charging occurs in mission
***(No Lasers):
****This removes the ability for a freighter FG to fire on attackers automatically but they are able to attack targets that they have a direct attack order for.
****This has no effect on fighter craft.
****This removes the ability for a Capital Ship FG to fire on attackers automatically or attack targets that they have a direct attack order for.
*****This is useful in preventing a capital from being able to intercept incoming warheads, and therefore putting more pressure on the player to defend them.
***Engines Damaged: Has no discernable effect
***Shields + Hyperdrive added:
****Adds shields to AI craft that normally don't have shields. The initial shield amount is 100%
****No effect for player craft that normally has shields and hyperdrive
****Adds shields (at 100% starting value) and the ability to use hyper buoys to player craft that normally can't do either
***All Systems Damaged: Has no discernable effect
***200% Shields:
****For normally unshielded craft this has NO EFFECT
****For normally shielded craft this sets the shields to 200% at the start of the mission. Only fighters are able to recharge shields if damaged.
***(50% Shields):
****For normally unshielded craft this has NO EFFECT
****For normally shielded craft this sets the shields to 50% at the start of the mission. Only fighters are able to recharge shields if damaged.
***Invincible: This makes the FG impossible to destroy and in the case of capital class ships be disabled either. The FG will be able to have its shields destroyed and its hull strength reduced to 1%, but will not be further damaged. Also, it will be impossible to reduce the system strength of the FG via ion cannons or ion pulses if it is a capital ship.
****Can be useful in limited cases to prevent a story/mission critical craft from being destroyed but GREAT care must be taken if used in a mission. Few things are more frustrating for a player then to spend valuable time attacking a target to then find it impossible to actually destroy the target.
***Infinite Warheads: This gives a FG unlimited warheads, same as if the player has turned on Infinite Ammo cheat.
***No Escape Pods/Ejections: This prevents the possibility of craft of the FG from spawning pilots in space (fighter sized craft) or escape pods (capital and freighter sized craft).
****This is VERY useful to a mission designer if they are at or near the 96 craft limit and have waves or further FGs that need to arrive in the region, as pilots and escape pods count against the 96 craft limit meaning that if they are present no more craft will spawn once the 96 craft limit is reached.
****Also VERY useful to a mission designer to reduce the "clutter" in the targeting list and friendly list in a large battle as the player won't need to cycle through ejected pilots and escape pods looking for the craft they want to target.
***No Cargo Pods: Has no discernable effect
***Not Inspected: Normally, all craft on the same Team as the player are fully identified in the CMD in game with the craft name and cargo, no matter if the player has approached close enough to inspect them or not. This option allows for the cargo of the craft to be unknown until inspected.
***Inspected: Normally, all craft not in on the same Team as the player are unknown until the player, or another craft on the player's team, have approached within a specified distance to reveal their name, and then their cargo remains unknown until they have been inspected by either the player, or another craft on the player's team, has approached closely enough to trigger the inspection of the craft. This option makes it so that any FG is fully identified with its name and cargo, no matter what team they are on.
***Identified: Normally, all craft not in on the same Team as the player are unknown until the player, or another craft on the player's team, have approached within a specified distance to reveal their name. This option makes it so that any FG is fully identified with its name, no matter what team they are on, but their cargo will still be unknown until the player, or another craft on the player's team, has approached closely enough to trigger the inspection of the craft.
***Limited Targetability: Disables the ability to target a craft via either the F1-F3 (Shift+F1-Shift+F3) or Next Target/Previous Target (T/Y) commands. Can still target via the target ship in sights command.
*Next you have the Warheads Field
**This is where you select which eight possible warheads the FG can be armed with
***None: No warheads
***Space Bomb: Ultra high damage, unguided and very slow warhead. Only suitable for destroying platforms or stationary capital ships. But due to their reduced magazine size, Heavy Rockets will always be the better option
***Heavy Rocket: High damage, low-guidance and relatively slow warhead. Can be used against stationary targets and capital ships. Highest total damage possible to carry via standard warhead load out
***Concussion Missile: Lowest damage, medium-guidance and relatively quick warhead. Can be used only for anti-fighter tasks. Out shone in all ways by the advanced version
***Torpedo: Medium damage, low-guidance and medium speed warhead. Can be used only for anti-capital tasks or attacking fixed platforms. Out shone in all ways by the advanced version
***Adv. Concussion Missile: Medium damage, high-guidance and fast warhead. Best warhead available for anti-fighter tasks
***Adv. Torpedo: Medium-high damage, medium-guidance and relatively quick warhead. Best warhead available for attacking quicker capital ships (M/CRV, etc) and can also be used to attack slower fighters (B/W, Y/W, etc)
***Mag Pulse: No damage, high-guidance and fast warhead. Disables all weapons of any craft that is hit for 30 seconds per warhead impact (if dual-fired 60 second disruption of weapons if both hit). Very useful for stopping the weapons of capital ships
***(Ion Pulse): Does same damage as a Adv. Missile, but only to shields and once the shields are gone, reduces the Systems Strength until the target is disabled.
*Next you have the Beam Field
**This is where you select which four possible beam systems the FG can be armed with
***None: No beam system
***Tractor beam: Tractor beam prevents the targeted craft from turning and slows them down. Useful to hit fast moving or maneuverable targets
***Jamming beam: Jamming beam prevents the targeted craft from targeting any other craft. Useful to disable a craft from attacking another ship you are defending
***Decoy beam: Decoy beam prevents warheads from targeting your craft
***(Energy beam): Has no function other than to allow the player to redirect power from the beam system to the engines for greater speed
*Next you have the Countermeasures Field
**This is where you select which two possible countermeasures the FG can be armed with
***None: No countermeasures
***Chaff: This releases particles behind the craft that prevent any warhead damage from transferring to the craft if the warhead hits the particles. While no damage transfers, the impact spin from the warhead hit still happens
***Flare: This releases a short range, medium speed and tracking warhead that will first home-in on incoming warheads, or if no warhead is in range, the closest enemy fighter. Does nearly no damage but does impart the warhead impact spin on the target if it hits
***(Cluster Mine): This is just a Flare
*Next you have the Explosion time Field
**This controls how long capital ship or platform takes to blow up once destroyed
***This can be used in a mission to make a destruction event more cinematic and drawn out but use with caution as AI will continue to attack a destroyed target until it actually blows up
*Next you have the Backdrop Field and Backdrops button
**See Backdrops Section for details
*Next you have the Global Cargo Field and Global Spec Cargo Field
**These allow you to select that the FG will carry one of the Global Cargos/Special Cargos that you can specify on the Mission2 Tab

*Finally, at the far bottom right you have Move Up and Move Down Buttons
**These buttons allow you to reorder the FG(s) you have selected to allow the organization of the FG list in the editor
*You also have the text "Flight Groug #Y of XX" and "XX craft at 30 seconds"
**The first text string informs you how many total FGs you have in the mission and what position in the FG list the top-most selected FG is
***YOGEME enforces the XWA game engine limit of no more than 192 FGs per mission
**The second text string is a sanity check on how many possible craft are in the mission at the 30 second mark
***You can only have 96 craft in a region at the same time
***This check DOES NOT factor in what region each craft is in, or on what difficulty the craft is set to spawn on
****Therefore, while this check is useful, it is common for it to show an error in a mission that is fully acceptable

Special Craft Types
Backdrops
[[Image:Flight_Groups-Craft-Backdrop.png|center|
Flight Groups Tab - Craft Tab - Backdrop Active
]]

You will want to add one or more backdrops to your missions. These are the images of planets, suns, nebula, and more that the game displays in the far distance to set the scene of your regions. To add backdrops to your mission by creating a new FG and changing its Craft Type to Backdrop (tip: while the drop-down menu is selected or open hit the "B" key until the selection changes to Backdrop). When you select a FG with the Craft Type of Backdrop many small changes happen to Craft Tab. First the Fields at the Top Left change to R G B, Brightness, and Size and the Global Cargo Field in the Bottom-Right changes to Shadow. Next most of the fields of the tab become greyed out and not useable, but the Backdrop Field and Backdrops Button become useable.

First thing to know about backdrops is that the name HAS TO BE a string of three numbers, in the format of 0.00 to the maximum value of 1.00, separated by spaces (i.e. 0.88 0.84 0.82). These numbers are the RGB code for the color of light the backdrop will emit in game, not necessarily the color of the actual image, although it is best to have them the same if possible. If you have a name or some other description in the R G B the game won't know what color the light should be and may not have any light in the mission at all for users who are using XWAU to play your mission. The Backdrop Dialog (see below) will aid in determining the correct RGB values to enter into this field.

The next field, Brightness, is where you specify how much relative light is coming from each light source in game. It can be a very cool effect to have all the light in a region coming from a single source and therefore there will be lots of moving shadows and highlights in the mission as the player and other craft maneuver. The brightness can be any value between 0 and 1.

The Size Field is where you will enter what scale your backdrop image is in game. Most backdrops in the original XWA game are 256x256 in size, but not all and you will need to experiment to determine what scale you want all your backdrop elements to be. The scale and be any value greater than 0.
*Caution should be taken to not scale up a backdrop too much as it will experience distortion as it is stretched around the sphere of the background in game.

If you know what Backdrop number and Shadow number you want for the Backdrop you can simply enter those values in the correct Fields on the right of the tab, or you can open the Backdrop Dialog be pressing the Backdrops Button on the far right.

[[Image:Backdrop_Dialog.png|center|
Backdrop Dialog Window
]]

This dialog opens a preview window where you can see all the possible backdrops to be added to the mission. For most of the lower number backdrops (planets) they have multiple Shadow/Variants that will make them appear to being lit from one side or the other to differing amounts to allow you to add more realism to the appearance of the planets in your missions. If you move your mouse cursor over the selected Backdrop's preview image, you will see a color square on the far right changing to show the color that your cursor is over in that moment. If you click on that spot in the image the RGB value for that color will be stored to the clipboard and you can then go to the R G B Field and paste the RGB value as the "correct" name for the backdrop.

Where the backdrop appears in game relative to all the other backdrops is controlled via the Waypoints Tab and the Start Point 1 for the backdrop FG. All backdrops are "projected" onto the infinitely far away background of the mission and only the relative vector of the start point relative to 0,0,0 matters for the position of the backdrop in game (i.e. 0,5,0 and 0,1,0 will appear in the same place in game, on top of one another). In a case where two backdrops overlap, which one is shown to be "on top" of the other is controlled by which backdrop is lower down the FG list (the higher up the list, the further "in back" the backdrop is).
*Care should be taken in placing the backdrops as sever distortion occurs near the "seams" between the different directions on the background sphere and therefore you should avoid placing round backdrop images (i.e. planets) near the seams (i.e. don't have a backdrop with a start point of 1,1,0).

Hyper Buoys
Asteroids
random centered on start point. maximum distance of 2.5 km from center but only when a large number of asteroids in FG. when a smaller amount within 1.5 km.

When you set the Craft Type to Asteroid Field the game will place random sized asteroids centered about the Start Point 1 based off several parameters.
*Asteroids DO NOT count as normal craft, and instead count against the total allowed number of space objects.
*The number of asteroids and their distance from the center is dependent on the value in # of craft Field
**A value of 1 will place a larger asteroid randomly within 1.5km of the Start Point.
**A value of 99 will place a dispersion of that number of different sized asteroids randomly within 2.5km of the Start Point.
*Asteroids cannot be destroyed or targeted
*Cannot move in mission except for their battle spins
*Should not give them any Status settings as it would be pointless

Mines
*Does not change with difficulty
*craft count is how many per side of the grid (i.e. craft count of 4 equals 16 mines)
*grid is centered on start point

Ar/Dep
[[Image:Flight_Groups-Arr.png|center|
Flight Groups Tab - Arr/Dep Tab
]]

*First, on the left of the tab there are the Arrival conditions for the FG
**The Via: section is where you specify the primary way a FG will arrive in their starting region
***The default option is Hyperspace: This has the craft hyperspace in if they are to arrive after the player is in region, or always be at their starting point (see Waypoints Tab)
****Be careful to not select this for a craft that should not have a hyperdrive as it breaks the immersion of the mission
***Hyper in Region of: does not seem to be correctly working at this time as the option does not stay selected for a craft
***Mothership and its selection menu is how you select a ship for the FG to fly out of its hanger. The Mothership does not have to have an actual hanger, but care should be taken on the relative sizes between the Mothership and the FG as if you have too large of a craft try to launch from a small Mothership, one or both can be damaged or destroyed
****The Player FG MUST use the Mothership arrival option
**The Alternative: section is where you specify how a FG is to arrive if it cannot arrive via the primary method. It has the same options as the Via: section
An optional, but highly suggested addition to any custom XWA battle is the addition of custom audio to play when radio messages or the briefings are displayed. The addition of custom audio really increases the perceived production value of a custom mission. See XWA Custom Audio for more details on how to add the audio to missions.
Emails
An optional, but highly suggested addition to any custom XWA battle is the addition of custom emails for the player to read. You can utilize the emails to tell more of the background story or give a greater amount of humor to your battles. Lord of the Restraining Bolt

A Droids tale by C2-4T

In a supply closet aboard the ISD-II Challenge there charged a droid. Unlike other supply closets, this was no den of discarded odds and ends. No place for dirt and filth left out of sight and out of mind.

The closet door cracked open just wide enough to allow overwhelming light to flood in, the sounds of life and laughter coming from beyond, followed by a wet up turned mop sailing through the air hitting the far wall with an audible slopping sound.

Quickly the closet returned to darkness, fought back only by the smouldering blue illumination of a droid's fully charged initial power cycle. C2-4T silently fed the wet mop into a trash compactor chute, overloaded the door controls with a zap from an extended appendage and went back to sleep.

Chapter 1 - The Heist
The Challenge cantina exploded into rorarous laughter and a salute of metallic mugs hitting tables like gun shots,
“... and then the Hammer lost their entire fleet at Kammia!!!”, a well timed punchline sent the cantina into a hysterical riot as cups, bottles and the very tables themselves were knocked to the floor.

The full force of the celebrations flooded into the little closet as the door was pried open, tonight's Bartender stood in the doorway, “Damn fritzy circuits! ... Fourty, get out there! Save as many of the Chaquilla bottles as you can!”

Fourty an old reassigned astromech leant backwards enough to extend their third leg as they shot forwards towards the door, the bartender dropping a trolley-like apparatus onto the droid as they sped past acknowledging their order with a series of pleasant bleeps and bloops.
“Bleeee-bleeee, blooo, bleee, blzzzz! blebleblzz!”

C2 translation matrix: Out of my way you whoremongers son!

The bartender gave a prideful salute as the cheerful little droid set off to do noble work.

---

Whilst appraising the room, Officers and crew began tossing their empty Chalquilla bottles into the trolley Forty dragged behind them. More often than not missing as the little droid ignore them to instead focus on a more important mission.

An open bottle of Chaquilla rolled across the cantina floor, sloshing its contents on to the waxy coated hard wearing plasteel surface, as it was kicked to and fro before Fourty.

C2 translation matrix: Nope. Not that one.

Another bottle rolled from the edge of a knocked table before smashing almost silently among a chorus of drinking song and exuberant shouting.

C2 translation matrix: Not that one.

Towards the edge of the large open room under an unoccupied table rolled to a stop a pristine bottle of Chalquilla, a large slow drunken form on hands and knees following after it. Fourty unleashed another burst of speed and crossed the room (mostly) avoiding legs, broken glass and pilots trying to order replacements for the drinks they’d already wasted. Arriving just as the large bulk-in-a-dress uniform picked up the bottle, Forty zapped the overdressed Officer forcing them to smack their head into the table, allowing the droid to collect the Chalquilla bottle from beside the Officers now slumbering coldcocked form.

“Blee, Beeeeeeeeeeee!”

C2 translation matrix: Yes, most excellent!

Compartmenting the pristine bottle internally, Forty scanned the room for an exit finding one between several pairs of legs and shot forward like a bullet, finally breaking the din of the cantina as cries broke out with being Pilots up ended and sent flying, the little droid plowing through them like a bowling ball, losing it’s bottle filled trolley in the process.

Through the thick of the cantina Fourty made a break for the door as the Bartender shouted, incredulously watching as the little droid passed the cantina droid sensor unhampered. Attempting to give chase he instantly stumbled into 4 pilots attempting to loot the cleaning closet for alcohol, “Put the bleach down you rancorous halfwits!”, the Bartender sighed, “... and grab a mop whilst you’re up to your arse in cleaning supplies.”

After a brief period of rummaging and knocking supplies off shelves, one of the pilots shouted from the back of the closet, “What mop?”

Chapter 2 - The Deal
Fourty scooted along corridors and rode turbolifts until finally arriving at their destination in the crew quarters. Approaching a door they bumped back and forth into it akin to knocking before settling back to wait.

A moment later a bleary eyed Captain stood in the doorway, looking over the droid and checking left and right, “Did you get it?”
“Bleeeee, blee-blooo bleeeezttt, blzzzzz!”, Fourty proudly produced the Chalquilla from their internal compartment and shook it in the air.
“Is it sealed this time?”

“Blzzzz, bleeee, bleeet!”, Forty shook the Chalquilla violently.

“Geeze, okay! Give it here,” the captain knelt down and took the bottle, briefly inspecting it against the light, “You really need to watch your language...”

“Bloo bllzz.”

“It’s fine ... just if anyone else understands that ... undroidlike language, it could cause problems.”

“Blzzzzzzzzzzzzzt bleee-bleeeeeeeeeee bllllzzzzzt!!!”

“It’s fine! You bring Chalquilla and my contacts in droid processing will keep that faulty restraining bolt in place. But if you attract the attention of some enterprising individual that might try fixing it themselves and that won’t end well will it.”

“Bleee...”, Forty looked up at the Captain, “Blee-bleee, bleeet blee?”

The Captain sighed, “Yes, I’II get you that reassignment to active astromech duty eventually, you’ll probably your own Corvette or something!”

“Blee!”, Forty rocked back and forth on two legs before falling silent for a second, “Bloo, blee blzt blee?”

“Why would I have a spare mop?”

“Bleeeee blzzzzz bleet?”

“Sure you can laylow here for a little while.”, the Captain stepped to one side allowing the little Droid to roll into his quarters, “What would you do with a mop anyway?”
MEDICAL REPORT 3467892 ISD-II Challenge: Dr. Irvine Sturgess

To: COM/VA Silwar Naiilo

Sir,

At your behest I have included my medical report for Hangar Crewman HC666 "Stee've"...

"Stee've cannot remember anything prior to his current assignment. His superior says that he was hit in the head when the TIE pilot, then LT Honsou, pulled a rather brash maneuveur inside the hangar deck of the ISD-II Challenge. The landing gear of the TIE Reaper he was flying had taken Stee've square in the face as he was moving to a safe zone for take off.

The truth of this tale is only half the story. Stee've was born on a backwater and recruited to the Challenge during a supply gathering mission. Never one for talking, Stee've communicated in little more than grunts and nods, occasionally his own name. However, he was exceptionally tall and strong for a humann and seemed to understand technology better than he understood most human emotion..

In a relatively short space of time he became a hangar deck crew and technician aboard the Challenge. The blow to the head, which should have killed Stee've, actually only seems to have enhanced both his strength and technical ability... if that's even possible."

Loyal regards,
Roolo is a NPC of the ISD-II Challenge, created by Phalk Sturm as part of the Real Heroes of the Challenge competition.

Background
VII - HANGAR BAY - ROOLO

The blast doors slided with a humming noise and a loud clank when they blocked, widely open.

The ISD-II Challenge had been refitted recently, as the catwalks above the hangar had been reinforced and were now fully automated. The elevators were an upgraded version with no rails and with the addition of magnetic fields that prevented careless loss of life and materiel. Walls were of a polished metallic alloy that gleamed dull reflections of this brightly lit area.
COL Phalk Sturm was wearing his flight suit, life support, flight gloves and boots, helmet on his left hand and his lightsaber swinging by the same side, an E-7 Blaster on the right hip. He strolled towards one of the Maintenance Officers, standing by one of the control consoles. Crossing the hangar had to be a mindful walk, as tubes, wirings and all kinds of elements were present on the floor, as soon as anyone would wander outside the well-lit and clearly painted walk lanes.

"Good morning, Chief Machinist." Sturm briefly said to the worn-looking officer staring at him in anticipation.
"Good morning, Colonel. Your Flight Group is being readied up for launch as we speak, but there have been some issues with your Spectres. The software updates messed up one of your fighters, and Tempest, erm, Tempest 3106853 is grounded. So sorry. I am having one of our best mechanics at it, but I think a replacement fighter is needed. Whose gunboat is that? You should inform your pilot, Sir.". The Chief Machinist seemed worried but not particularly distressed. Just weary.

"Wonderful. Then, I guess I AM grounded, since it's my bird you're talking about, Chief." sourly replied Sturm with a slight grin.
"Tell you the truth. Ever since the Spectres were transferred, we've been into nothing but malfunctions and all kinds of crap on a daily basis. I mean, who builds these things? You wouldn't believe the issues, Colonel. I am sorry, but we're doing our best. I can let you have one of the reserve Missile Boats. What do you think?", said Chief Machinist raising both his palms in an open stance of negotiation.
"Again Chief, you are trying to convince me to fly, while I could be sipping coffee elsewhere" answered Sturm. "In fact, show me to my ship, I'd like to talk to your mechanics. I need to know what the malfunctions are, because honestly I don't want to end up in flames or with a jammed cannon when the moment comes. I know my way around a wrench. Point me the way", Sturm was standing squarely to the Chief Machinist with both hands on his hips, a broad smile of smug on his face.

"This is highly irregular, Colonel, Sir. I don't think it's necessary you do that, our technicians are more than competent. It will be solved within the day. And one wouldn't like to see an officer like yourself, in such labours, Sir. Besides, it's dangerous. If someone sees you... It would be better if we ...", NOW the Chief Machinist was clearly worried. Embarrassed. Troubled about denying a senior officer a direct request. His face was blushing and contorting in an otherwise, still composed gesture. He could not help himself of thinking that this Colonel would become a pool of problems, either if seen by others, or pointing out unobserved regulations, and what's worse, blabbing whatever he saw to his CMDR, or even the Commodore. He deflected his gaze towards the console module on his hands, in an attempt to defuse the situation.

"Chief, show me the way. Irregular is my middle name", and as Sturm said this, turned around towards the working stations on the opposite side of the Hangar. "Or I'll find out myself", he spoke again and he kept walking.

"Station B-65, the mechanic is AD478. Ask for Roolo, Colonel", shouted the Chief Machinist in the distance.

COL Phalk Sturm crossed the hangar from side to side while walking by the safety lane, until he reached the entrance to the lower sub-level. Several fighters were lined up into pits with scaffolds around them. A bright sign by the side of the metal structures informed of which work station and appointed mechanic. Almost immediately Sturm recognized his Spectre Missile Boat, as in fact it was the only one parked amidst other TIE starfighters. He could see the Commodore's personal Lambda-class Tyderian Shuttle being adjacent to a badly beaten TIE Advanced. Perhaps Elara's?, -he thought to himself-, and a few steps further he was standing by the open lid of his cockpit. Inside, all panels had been dismantled, and he could not help himself, but to release a gasp of despair. Wires, the backside of panels and screens, accumulators, were all visible and also some scattered handheld power tools here and there. Like if a bomb had exploded and bursted the insides of his, now dead, brand new flying death machine.

Then a voice from inside the avionics box, growled. A guttural sound of no human nature.

A sturdy, aged and horribly scarred Ughnaught emerged. Surprised of having company, he did not greet the officer staring at him. Sturm could clearly see the deep scars on his porcine face. Burn marks, probably? Radiation? Skin plague? Electrified lashes?. This man seemed like he had seen a lot through his life. A big number across the chest of a red apron reported his number: AD478.

"Good morning, AD478. Is your name Roolo?" asked Sturm to the still standing Ughnaught, staring back at him, speechless.

"Hmpf, yes, I am Roolo, and you are pilot. What, hmpf, is your doing here? Not belong here, you pilot." said the Ughnaught and turned back to look for some tool that he quickly grabbed and almost snuck back inside the cockpit's entrails.

Sturm bowed and an awkward silent pause ensued.

"I am Colonel Sturm, Roolo. And this is MY fighter. What is the malfunction? Maybe I can help. And I need to know what is it, before I fly this baby again", said Sturm and squared his body, expanding his chest.

Roolo issued a guttural sound, not a growl now, but a purr, and bowed.

Then, he spoke: "Programming is outdated, hmpf, and there are many uncoupled functions that were fried because of unstable molecular weilding. Hmpf, this was poorly done, hmpf. Bad job, bad job" replied, and he started following something with his head, inside one of the open avionic compartments, somewhere in the depths of the fighter's nose.

"Can I help you with those? I mean, I am not flying anywhere this morning, am I?" asked Sturm, more interested in the odd-looking scars of the Ughnaught than the actual malfunctions in his fighter.

"No, hmpf. What can you know about molecular weilding? Hmpf. Work has to be done, you go officer, you go and let Roolo do his job. Good job, good job", his reply was dry but seemed genuinely concerned.

"I have been to Gentes, Roolo. I have been coupling with your neutron-arches quite a few times. In fact, where are you from? Gentes? Belsus? Bespin?" inquired Sturm, with additional intent to know more about his mechanic.

"Neutron-arch you say? Hmpf", Roolo had popped out his head and holding a handheld neutron-arch wielder in his hand. His left hand. His right hand was missing a few fingers and wearing a safety glove. "Gentes I am, but sold in slavery I was. Been to many places. Now you go, officer. Good job, good job", and quickly slipped back to the insides of the fighter.

"Oh, sorry to hear that, Roolo. But you are here by your will, aren't you?" Sturm asked. He was not sensing any resentment from the Ughnaught nor any physical pain attaining an enemy. The Ughnaught just gave him a feeling of weariness. Although genuinely concerned about Roolo's current situation of being a slave or not, he worried more about an unwilling slave fixing his personal starfighter. But he immediately dismissed the thought of sabotage as he felt nothing inside that could lead him to aggression or the itching pain presenting whenever an enemy was nearby.

"Free I am, and fond of my job. A Good job, a good job. Please, now you go officer, let Roolo finish", the Ughnaught showed up again his scarred face lifting a ventilation lid.

"Alright, Roolo. But I'll be back in a few hours, to see how you're doing. And I'll bring something. Not a genteslug, but something you may like. Good job you do and present I will give you". Sturm almost shouted inside the open avionics compartment, since the noise of the wielder muffled his words while in a rain of sparks sourcing from an unknown place in the depths of his fighter. He walked away.
Roolo went back to his rumblings.

Red wire or blue wire? The quantum field tester showed another loss of quarks in the end of the blue coupling. The wielding had been clearly done in a rush and no one had tested a repeated overload as a precaution. Another thing to do, another thing to fix, bad job, bad job. After rerouting power several times, none of the couplings had melted, and he felt satisfied. The list on his datapad showed 72 couplings had been upgraded and 3 full cable branches of quantic fibre had been replaced. Additionally, standard chromium input terminals in three of the cockpit panels were removed and enhanced with orichalcum-alloy to sustain higher temperatures and voltages. With everything connected, he accessed the diagnose port. Spectre-class Advanced Missile Boat? Check. Serial number 3106853, frameware version 2.0, Terminal Name: Tempest 3-1. All was in order. A self-dignose check. No errors. He was about to check the systems that had been compromised, when a doubt aroused. A stern gaze crossed his mind. It was the inquisitive eyes of the officer, that had stuck in the back of his brain. A custom-made message, not from the original firmware was showing on the datapad. "Property of P.S.". Everything halted. No options were available in the previous long menu of systems and subsystems. The only working function was "Perform FULL SCAN - ALL SYSTEMS AND SUBSYSTEMS".

"Hmpf, it would take hours. And who had messed with the software? Who was P.S.? Bad job, he thought, and reluctantly initiated the procedure.

Roolo stepped away from the Spectre gunship. The shape was menacing and reminded him of a Velker with broken wings. He had seen those fiercesome beasts while living in the lower levels of Bespin. Their gigantic wings flapping in the clouds and the immediate danger which compelled to find shelter inside the dank, dark tunnels in the sublevels of the massive floating city. Reminiscing the mushrooms he daily ate with his other slave inmates. The genteslug-egg casseroles! What a delight!. The nights of sorrow and grief but also of the relief and nostalgia when he and his kin rememebered the days in freedom on Gentes, Belsuna, before the enslavers came. Enslavers. And Ygloste. A few tears dropped from his eyes and rolled down the deep scars on his nose and cheek. Ygloste. If it wasn't for her, he would not be alive.
Ygloste was Roolo's sister. Never such joy and energy impersonated an Uglett as Ygloste. On Gentes, Ygloste, Roolo and their parents lived as a normal family in the settlments around the swamps. His tribe was one of the lesser families of the Insorat tribe. Their tribal profession was farming and the family had been running that establishment for countless generations. But Roolo, was not an ordinary Ughnaught.

He was no skilled craftman of any kind. Much less of his blood profession. Since a young age, however, he had a strong interest for weapons and longed to be a strong warrior. One of those legendary Sith warlocks that where told in whispered stories by the bonfires. Roolo was never around when the crops came, or when someone had to harvest the eggs of genteslugs in the swamps.

Growing up, he connected with the wrong people. Many young Ughnaughts, who were also rebellious to the stern structure of their society, just started to group around isolated campfires in the swamps, at night, to tell stories, brag about their improvised weapons, and yes, fight for the thrill of being the strongest in the gang. Roolo was no exception. In fact, he was good at it, and quickly he found himself expelled from his family's farm and scorned from his father and the tribe. It mattered not to him. Only seeing his sister, from time to time, was a burden, but very much a price he gladly paid for having endless nights of brawls, inebriation and the thrill of escaping the occasional tribal watchmen, when stealing their cattle, jewelry or anything they could lay hands on.

In fact, at the age of 20, Roolo rejected his blood profession. He claimed in front of a full-gathered tribe that he would kill anyone who wanted to test his skill, and no one dared to cross tusks with him. He walked away laughing and it brought his relation with his family to a clear end.

He settled however, close to the swamps. He was an avid learner, and races became another of his passions. His gang, -he found himself leading, after all-, assumed a given nickname. The Warthogs. Along with them and some skilled pilots, the gang was now in the illegal swamp racing business. An elder Ughnaught, a former slave that escaped Lothal, was his mentor and friend now. This older Ughnaught never spoke his name to Roolo, even if they spent day after day, night after night, building up pod-racers, for years, until he finally passed away, with only a "Hmpf" for an answer.

His life was always full of adrenaline. The races, the money, the duels. One day, the planet was invaded.

The Clone Wars had been a distant noise away in the galaxy, but somehow General Grievous and his henchmen had found another world to enslave. Gentes was a primitive planet, defenseless in comparison to the might of the Separatists, and what ensued was a massacre.
When the droids landed, they marched unopposed across the surface. The Ufflor constables were no match. Settlement after settlement fell with almost no losses to the CIS huge army. Within months, all populated areas in the open wasteland and the center land mass of the planet had been subdued or destroyed. Thousands of Ughnaughts were executed or captured and sent offworld to Grievous' command, to the mines in Mustafar, foundries in Geonosis, and all across the galaxy.

Roolo lost all his friends while trying to evade the initial droid attack on the Swampways. He barely escaped after losing most of his hand in an explosion, and although severely wounded, managed to make his way back to the remote location of the family farm. His father, Rolgast, in the meantime, had been harbouring refugees from all around, both his tribe kinsmen and others. However, the farm could feed only a few of those refugees, now pouring daily into the dozens. When Rolgast saw his first-born crossing the swamps back home, his joy was so immense, that all the grief and resentment he had for his son, was immediately erased. He was a proud Insorat tribesman, but alone and old, clearly no match to the scavengers flocking to his farm.

One night, after a few weeks Roolo and his family had rejoined, they eventually had to send most of the refugees away. Some, wearily thanked them, collected their few possessions and left, following the Ughnaught way, but a mixed group of scavengers, violently refused. One of them, a human, grabbed Ygloste by the neck and threatened to kill her if they were not to be allowed forever in the farm. The human grew bolder by seeing the Ughnaughts in shock, and demanded that his group was now in custody of the farm, and all of the dwellers within would become their ¨indentured servants¨, as it was a fair price for the protection his group would give to them and the farm.
Rolgast fell to his knees imploring this ruthless man not to kill his daughter. That all possessions he had were his now, but to spare the lives of those inside the farm. Roolo, who had been silently watching the scene from one of the sewage tunnels he was inspecting, crawled behind the man and decapitated him instantly with a proton axe. The rest of the group, heavily drunken, barely managed to show any reaction. Roolo charged on the group growling and screaming. The awful shrieks chilled the spine of those standing close to him, and he killed two more with his tusks and the axe. The rest of the group scattered and run anywhere they could.

Everybody in the farm, cheered and greeted Roolo, the prodigal son, the saviour. But Roolo knew better.

Scavengers were going to claim this isolated jewel, and they will come back. When, was the question, Roolo thought.

But, what came later, after a two weeks of total calm, was much worse. He was in the swamps with his sister Ygloste, harvesting eggs, when huge explosions were heard in the direction of the farm. A few flying craft crossed the skies, and then more explosions. They ran frantically towards their home, to see flames, buildings destroyed and dozens of droids pouring from all sides in massive armored vehicles, so huge, like Roolo had never seen before.

Scattered around, on the fields, several corpses could be seen. Roolo knew that he had not to expose himself or his sister if they wanted to avoid a certain death. They hid for days in the draining tunnels leading into the swamps. Finally, he mustered some courage and told Ygloste to wait for him for a full day, and if he didn't come back, to walk towards the sea, following the swamps, until reaching the old temples by the shore.

Although he had a maimed hand, Roolo could shoot very effectively with his other hand, and fortunately he had brought his old CD34 Blaster Rifle, as he always did whenever venturing in the swamps. He approached the farm from the northern side, crawling in the mud and entering the sewage system of the farm. He emerged inside one of the stables, where the Blurrgs were normally held. Empty. Nothing. Only loose forage here and there, but no sign of the dozen blurrgs his family had. Upon approaching the doors, he scoped the area with his rifle's optics, but nothing again. No droids, no corpses, no vehicles. The farm was barren. He ran across the ruined buildings that flanked the main house. The barn, the stores, windtrap and moisture collectors were completely destroyed. He stopped to collect his thoughts and very much needed breath. The tension was unbearable. Knowing he might be captured any time soon and leaving his sister, helpless, at the mercy of slavers, scavengers or the droids, was a thought that forced him to maintain his awareness at the expense of his fears.
Roolo finally reached his old house. Smouldering rubble, all there was left. In the kitchen, amidst the debris, he could find some ionized meals and a drum full of water. He filled his canteens and put everything that seemed edible inside his backpack. He carefully made the walk back to the sewers entrance in the stables. A few hours later he rejoined his sister. She was waiting in their makeshift hutt,
under a thick canopy of swamp trees, gnarly branches and thick vines. They hugged and rubbed noses and tusks. She was so happy to see him again. They both laughed. After some time, they lit the first campfire after days of hiding, and finally had a proper meal from the ionized packages. Roolo fell in a deep slumber while his sister kept watch.

"PIG FACE! GET UP YOU SWINE HEADED USELESS OLD BASTARD!!!", someone shouted and Roolo startled in fear, hitting his head against a metallic frame inside the Spectre gunship.

Where was he? Ygloste?

It was the Chief Machinist. Red in the face, foam from his mouth like a rabid animal. Clearly the racist slurs were far from banned in the Empire. Abolition of slavery was a first step towards justice, but the segregationist culture of the sneering imperialism that pervaded everything, was far from changed.

"WHAT IN THE NAME OF OUR LORD AND SAVIOUR PALPATINE ARE YOU DOING?". His manical shouts could be heard from across the hangar. Some mechanics stopped working and were now clearly staring at the scene.

"Sleeping, master Chief Machinist. Roolo is guilty. Bad job, bad job" muttered the Ughnaught while lowering his head.

"Sleeping on my watch!!! NO ONE DARES TO SLEEP UNDER MY COMMAND!. I will have you skinned, you old wretch. I don't care what is your contract. In here, you are MINE!.", the Chief Machinist continued to yell frantically, at the now cornered and visibly submissive Ughnaught.

"That would suffice, Chief Machinist.", a voice from behind the fuming NCO was clearly heard. Every mechanic on deck was now watching this otherwise, awkward scene. The fiery Chief Machinist, the submissive Ughnaught mechanic and a quiet officer in grey-clad duty uniform behind him.

Chief Machinist's eyes rolled in an unnatural way in a fog of hate.

"WHO SAID THAT? WHO WANTS TO REGRET THIS VERY DAY?" and he turned around slowly, like if he was giving the chance to his offender to escape and hide away.

"I did, Chief Machinist." replied Sturm, again with the same calm voice.

"Oh!. I am sorry, Colonel. I thought for a moment one of these day slackers... And this pigface, erm AD478 was caught in an act of misbehaviour. I will see that he gets proper punishment. I run a tight ship, here!", the man had toned down and seemed almost civil as he gathered composure. His clenched fists betrayed his polite and clearly shallow demeanour.

"Chief, the Ughnaught here is my personal mechanic. He is now under my service and classified tasks for Tempest Squadron. I can't afford any delays nor can the squadron or the Commodore. I'll tell you what. You close an eye today, and no one is telling of those odd looking crates of coolant, filled with Chalquila. And I am not suggesting." Sturm was talking very closely to the Chief Machinist, calmly and almost whispering.

"Yes, Sir. As you command, Colonel.", the man turned around and went back to his post.

Everybody around them tried to hide, burying themselves into their respective workstations.

Roolo was silent, standing still very close to the fighter. Still recovering from the fright of being caught sleeping on the job. Bad job, bad job, old Roolo, he thought.

"Roolo, you'd better get those naps in check, or next time is the airlock for you", the Colonel said, "I've brought you something you may like, but you can have it, if and only if, you show what you've done so far." and he chuckled.

"Changed all wirings and terminals. Good job. Wielding and 100% checked couplings, good job. Diagnostics, I have to check, officer. No quick scan allowed in your ship, strange thing, maybe a bad job" replied Roolo while looking into the datapad in his left hand.

"I see. Full diagnosis only. That's thoughtful and responsible. No shortcuts, Roolo. Good job", and he grinned.

"This is for you", and Sturm extended his arm, holding a small metal box.

The old Ughnaught bowed, and remained silent. Collected the box with both hands and bowed again.

"Open it, Roolo. Nothing so special. A treat from your home, I guess.", Sturm was smiling with his usual smug and both fists on his hips.
Roolo opened the box. Inside, a marvel!, a jewel!, something he had not seen in years. Several dried moldflower mushrooms. He growled joyfully. "How is you have this, officer? Greatest gratitude. Good job, good job", he was still amazed at that small treasure contained in the box.

"I grow them at home, in Akritt'ar, Roolo. My wife sent them to me. She'd be happy for you to have them, I am sure. No genteslugs, unfortunately. At best one could find mynocks, here in space." Sturm was happy to see the Ughnaught clenching with both hands his rare present. A second later, the box was nowhere in sight. "You were a slave, Roolo. Where? Lothal? Geonosis?, I am curious", said Sturm as he grabbed the datapad and started to inspect the subsystems in his fighter.

"Geonosis, then Bespin. Followed imperial officers after manumission. Worked Outer Rim. Bad jobs. Signed for Opan. Now the Challenge. Good job now.", the Ughnaught was staring at something inside the cockpit.

"Quite a journey. Rough ride, I guess, Roolo", Sturm was satisfied at the readings on the datapad screen. "Everything seems in order, now. Do we fire her up? What do you think, Roolo?", he was eager to test his fighter as soon as possible.

"Final test, I do, hmpf. Then you officer go fly it. Not before. Good job", Roolo was cleaning his hands on his now clearly smeared, red apron", the Ughnaught was holding the datapad in his hand and looking at the screen.

"I'll get ready and come back, Roolo" replied Sturm, leaving the hangar for the second time in the day.

Roolo watched the officer go away, and after he was gone for sure, finally started to bolt down the panels and rearrange all the exposed wirings. An hour later, he stood up in the cockpit. His small stature allowed him to be fully erect and barely reach the edge of the fuselage. He was satisfied. The cockpit was immaculate. Good job. He descended from the gunship and operated the datapad after he inspected all sides of the fighter. A loud boom and a pleasant humming noise was very much audible from the glowing engines of the Spectre Advanced Missile Boat gunship Tempest 3106853. A red demon head was painted on the nose of the craft, defiant.

The systems responded flawlessly to all commands Roolo was prompting from the datapad in his hands. Again, he felt satisfaction inside. This was his trade. He was able to find the good job, everywhere, anywhere. Not like life before that. He could not save his sister, or his family. Bad jobs were a burden in his heart. He could understand machines. Machines were his friends. Good jobs. They obeyed his commands and his was able to take care of them. But his sister. His family. All dead. Bad job. Useless Roolo, he thought.

Roolo recognized Sturm walking down the hangar, towards him. His blue helmet trimmed in gold, and his lightsaber, always hanging by his thigh. He was wearing a flight suit in full gear and was still far away, but even an Ughnaught could feel the presence of this officer. A Sith?. He had felt similar distresful emotions when inside the old abandoned temples of Gentes. Yet, this human seemed different. Anguish, torment, pain, but also understanding. Roolo was drowning in his deep thoughts, when the officer addressed him.

"Roolo, don't be nervous. At ease. I am sure you did a good job. Look me in the eyes, now." the officer was speaking with a clear voice, and his last word fell like a hammer deep in his brain. He felt the pain in the back of his neck. Something was pushing him to look at the man in the eye. He resisted. The pain intensified and he looked. He saw two dark brown eyes and then something like he had never seen before. He was terrorized. He saw total blackness. A numbing pain and the void he had experienced before. When they killed Ygloste. Why? Who was this man? The anguish of looking elsewhere, was like an oppressing force on his chest. He could not stop looking into that bottomless pit that were the man's eyes in front of him. Suddenly, everything changed. He was able to look at his face. How much time had passed? Roolo was startled. Unable to speak. He just stood with his arms by his sides, helpless.

Sturm spoke again, but his voice seemed different. He looked Roolo straight in the eyes again, and said: "I have seen inside of you, ughnaught. I saw your sister, butchered. The people you've killed and those who died by your side. The cold nights in the tunnels on Bespin. The flaming lashes on your face. Geonosis. The punishment. Torture. Pain and sorrow. They walk by your side. I trust you.", but oddly enough the human seemed to keep his mouth closed. Lips were not moving. "Who is this human?", Roolo was drowning in awe and doubt.

"I am Sturm. Obey and we will be friends.", again he could not see if the officer had spoke, glimpsing only a smile as he wore his helmet, closed the brackets and secured the tubing attached to the life support unit, all in a graceful motion, just a moment before entering the fighter's cockpit.

The engines started with the familiar burst, and a sweet humming filled the work station.

Seconds later the fighter was hovering and dove straight into the open space below the ISD-II Challenge.

Roolo thought of Ygloste, and the dried moldflower mushrooms.
Lockesetzerhttps://wiki.emperorshammer.org/Lev_GoraLev Gora2024-01-12T17:36:24Z
Lockesetzer: Created page with "{{EH_Character| color=Empire| bgcolor=#c00| fgcolor=#000| name=Lev Gora| position=Chief Maintenance Officer, Main Engine Crew #16, ISD-II Challenge| affiliatio..."

Autobiography
My name is Lev Gora.

No one has heard of me. Not much of a surprise, as I am not a famous TIE Fighter Ace. I wouldn't know what to do in the cockpit of a TIE Fighter if you put me there. Nor do I have any desire to. People you have heard of.... they're usually dead. And I prefer to live. And so, I do my duty, keep a low profile, and make sure I don't get on the wrong side of one or another of the higherups.
But - let's start at the beginning. For some reason, I was asked to write down who I am. Not sure why, but part of keeping a low profile is doing ad you're told, even if you don't know why. Maybe it's because a new Commodore was appointed. I'm not sure who it is, some guy that got promoted from a TIE squadron. Naiser I think it is. Not sure about that.

Anyway, I digress. For me, the beginning was Pereta City on Abednedo. My parents, both from Corellia, for some weird reason decided to move to Abednedo. Don't ask me why, it still doesn't make sense to me why anyone would willingly live on that backwater piece of crap. Still, I learned some skills there. Enough to get hired as a technician. And so, I got off that rock as soon as I could.
My first job was Chief Maintenance Officer aboard a Baleen-class Heavy Freighter, the Dark Sky. Don't get too excited though, I was Chief Maintenance Officer there, and in that capacity I supervised exactly one crew members aboard: me. It was easy work, as the Captain wasn't taking many risks. We weren't getting chased around, we weren't getting shot at, and so life was easy.

Well, until we ran into a group of Pikes. At least, I think they were Pikes. Or maybe it was someone whose name is Pike. No one ever told me much of anything there, so your guess there is as good as mine. Although from what I know of the Pikes, it was probably someone named Pike who wasn't an actual Pike. I'm still not entirely sure how or why, but that encounter ended with the crew either dead or taken prisoner, the cargo stolen, and me all by myself adrift on the Dark Sky. Now don't get me wrong, I knew that ship inside out, knew where every bolt should be. But when I woke up after the attack, the engine was no longer in a state that I could fix. No more escape pods, main and backup generators were ransacked. It was pretty much over and done with.
Heck, I couldn't even send a distress signal anymore as the comm array had been destroyed. And the ship's main computer too.
So what do you do in such a situation? I'm not sure, there were no protocols. No guides. No one ever told me what to do when you find yourself alone, stranded on a derelict spaceship somewhere in deep space, light years from the nearest star system. Maybe I should write that guide one day. Who knows when someone might need it.

Probably never. But you never know.

Anyways, I'm not sure how long I'd been adrift, but suddenly I heard a loud bang. No sensors of course, but I'd know that bang anywhere. Someone had locked onto our docking ring. Which gave me two options: meet them with open arms, or hide until they left. The latter seemed the safe option at the time, but of course that did have the downside of me still being adrift and possibly even worse off that I was now. And so I went for door number 1. I hurried towards the docking ring, and just as I entered the corridor, I saw three guys in white armor walking towards me. I stopped, and waved at them.
They must have panicked or something. I remember I saw one of them raise their rifle at me. And the next thing I know, I'm sitting in a dark room tied to a chair. Well, at least I wasn't on the Dark Sky anymore, that was for sure. After that, I did some talking to this guy in a neat grey uniform. Never di catch his name. But he did give me a choice. He needed mechanics, and as I claimed to be one, he would see if I was good enough to be useful. Of course I wanted to know what the pay was, I'm not accepting just any job, you know. But apparently he expected me to take the job. Without pay. Something about an airlock, space and explosive decompression. Not my favorite way to die, and so I took the job.

That was 5 years ago. All this time, I've been a mechanic on the maintenance team aboard an Imperial II-class Star Destroyer. I'd heard of these ships of course - everyone had. But I'd never thought I'd actually get to see one. Well, to be fair, I haven't seen this one yet either, I've been cooped up on the lower decks for all this time, but that suits me fine. Don't draw attention to yourself, do your job right, and you get food on a daily basis, and a place to bunk for the night. And I'm actually a Chief Maintenance Officer now with people who actually have to do what I say. Only 5 of them, but that's 5 more than in my last job. And not too many. If I get promoted again, I'll have to supervise 20 of
these 6 man units like the one I'm in now. That means people start noticing you. And you don't really want that, do you?

I think that pretty much sums it up for me. I'm not all that interesting. I don't have a high profile job, I'm not a hero of the Empire, and I'm...

Well, I say Empire, but I'm not actually sure how much of an Empire we are. I've been doing a little reading on Galactic history, and it seems the actual Emperor of the Empire died about a year after I was born. So can we be an Empire if there is no Emperor? Who knows, people do crazy things. Except me. Crazy things get you noticed, getting noticed is what gets you killed. And I intend to die of old age. Of very, very old age. Preferably on some world where it's always sunny, plenty of food. And plenty of Twi'lek dancing girls for all. I've got a few years to figure out how to do that. Maybe I'll write another tidbit once I get that far. Assuming someone then wants to know of course.
Canto Val-Har is a NPC of the ISD-II Challenge, created by Jarek La'an as part of the Real Heroes of the Challenge competition.

Biography
A newly commissioned Lieutenant and Medical Officer, Val-Har joined the ISD Challenge directly from completion of her medical education and military training. A young Pantoran female, with characteristic blue skin, yellow eyes and purple hair, the striking gold markings under her eyes signify her family's genealogy. Born on Aurora Prime to a pro-Imperial Pantoran family in exile from their homeworld, she has little connection with her native culture and has embraced the Empire fully.
Short in stature but athletic, confident but quiet, she is adjusting quickly to her new life onboard an active ISD. Having joined the military to escape the cloying attentions and expectations of her family she is constantly looking to challenge herself and experience new things. A keen observer, she is working to integrate herself into the ISD Challenge's hierarchy while conscious that the crew is predominantly human and by defintion she stands out.
Eager to prove herself as capable and trusted she will always volunteer when medical support is needed and has shown a particular affinity for cybernetics, an area in which she is now focusing her work. Her ability to enhance the interaction and sensitivity of response of enhancements has allowed a number of veterans to keep flying, despite significant injuries and has earned her a loyal following amongst the pilots of Wing X.
Lockesetzerhttps://wiki.emperorshammer.org/Harlon_ReissHarlon Reiss2024-01-12T16:28:48Z
Lockesetzer:

Harlon Reiss is a NPC of the ISD-II Challenge, created by Jarek La'an as part of the Real Heroes of the Challenge competition.

Biography
Presently serving as Commander of a battalion of Hammer's Fist Stormtroopers embarked on the ISD Challenge, Colonel Reiss is best characterised as a difficult man to like, although he is adored by those under his command. Noted for his ascerbic personality and as a stickler for high standards, he believes firmly in setting the example for the men and women under his command to follow. A human male, lean in build and tall, his features are sharp. His dark eyes betray little emotion, while his closely cropped grey hair is broken by multiple scars as a clear reminder of his frontline combat experience.
Aged 47 but able to outrun and outfight the majority of his command, he drills his troops relentlessly to ensure they are always ready to fight and win at the command of the Emperor's Hammer. Having enlisted as a Stormtrooper in the aftermath of the Battle of Yavin, he rose quickly through the ranks earning a reputation as a loyal and highly effective soldier, reaching the rank of Lieutenant within 5 years.
Following the Empire's disintegration into splintered remnants after the Battle of Jakku and the signing of the Galactic Concordance, Reiss found himself serving a succession of self-proclaimed warlords as interneccine struggles led to bitter infighting. Rising to the rank of Major 10 years after Jakku and growing increasingly disillusioned with those commanding him and their desire to spend his troop's lives in the name of petty politicking, Reiss and a full company of Stormtroopers loyal to him seized control of an Arquitens-class cruiser, the Revelation, before using it to reach the territory of the Emperor's Hammer.
He has served his new masters faithfully, initially on Aurora Prime before commanding battalions on the ISD Immortal and ISD Relentless, prior to joining the ISD Challenge. Rejecting further promotion he seeks to avoid being removed from his troops or combat. Far from an Imperial fanatic or xenophobe, he is motivated by a desire to return order to the galaxy and put an end to the constant state of conflict that has prevailed since Yavin, recognising that only the Empire can offer stability and the firm hand needed.
Lockesetzer
