Alpha Squadron Operations

Preface[edit]

Organizations are articulated towards an objective. Alpha Squadron, as part of the BGI, seeks to fully enjoy the experience of the X-Wing series as well as other games, perfecting piloting and tactical skills, seeking operational readiness while exploring the historical context by role-playing.

To achieve these goals, with the in-game purpose of exerting constant drill and training, acquiring as much combat experience as possible, always ready to carry on the orders given by the fleet, a program with 3 lines of work is being created. Competitions will be created for each one.

Training Directives[edit]

Single Player (SP)[edit]

Competitions will be created to allow pilots to develop their basic piloting and tactical skills as well as their situational awareness. While goal completion remains the main objective, both time and scoring will be taken into account. It is entirely possible that new missions/battles designed with this in mind, will be submitted to the compendium. Recurrent challenges and special events may be created as well.

Player Vs. Environment (PvE)[edit]

Mission on XvT/BoP and XWA (With Coop-multiplayer enabled) can be flown in cooperative mode. This allows for cooperative tactics and rehearsals against AI-controlled opponents solving a number of proposed exercises, with a variety of missions on the vanilla games and others that can be enabled for coop mode and possibly new missions.

In fact, the general policy for new missions will be to make them coop-enabled whenever possible.

The aim here is the same as SP: goals, time, scoring. But this time two elements are added: lag and help of human squadron mates.

Player Vs. Player (PvP)[edit]

Internal continuous sparring is desirable to obtain and maintain combat piloting skills and readiness. This helps dealing with both hand-eye coordination and the psychological aspects of the game.

Additionally, challenging other squadrons allows to both interact with them as they learn about us, building a good reputation of friendship between squadrons which will help the fleet at large with a philosophy of creating bonds through trials in combat.

The 1v1 / 2v2 combat skills will prepare pilots for combat in PvP missions. The next logical step is to use vanilla and custom missions for exerting PvP combat, develop and testing operative and tactical proposals this time against teams of human pilots. .

Campaign Role Play[edit]

About the campaign project:

As you might know, it is expected that the 7th SO "Alpha" will be flying cooperative missions hopefully for TFTC but if that doesnt work, the alternative is to go for XWAU or BoP as plans "B" and "C". With the OPT_Limit hook desynching connections, chances are it must revert to base XWAU. For historical context, at first, we might follow an EaW gameplay to draw inspiration for the battles as it is figured out how it works before moving forward.

Depending on the outcome of each mission (the unit might win or lose them) the next missions might change their context.

As special forces, Alpha have the benefit of mission rehearsals, meaning pilots can fly the mission 2 times under what we believe would be the "real" scenario according to whatever data Intelligence can provide (which may or may not vary).

However, for the mission to be fully successful after rehearsals, we'll have to achieve a bigger score on the "real" deal. And we'll have just 3 waves on rehearsals. Fail there and you won't qualify for the mission. On the "real" deal you'll have just 1 wave. If 50% or more doesnt qualify, mission fails and story will change. If we are successful on the rehearsals but fail on the real mission, we'll fail eitherway and depending on how we fail, story will change.

Update 08-10: TFTC #1 is done, working on TFTC-2, still havent submitted the pertinent IUs

Update 12-05: Submitted all pertinent IUs (Now I can submit missions in all classic platforms plus TFTC). Got a couple ideas for XW and BoP (could have worked for TFTC but I want to begin with XW and make the most out of it).
