From Emperor's Hammer Encyclopaedia Imperia

Commander Dash Ardaan is a Flight Member in Scorpion Squadron aboard the MC-90 Renegade. His Flight Number is Scorpion 2-3.

Personal History[edit]

Dash was born in 8 BBY on the second planet of the Galicia system. His father, Pip Ardaan, was a trained starship mechanic during the era of the Old Republic and served on the maintenance crew of the Venator-class Star Destroyer Redeemer. Pip narrowly escaped the Redeemer's fate and vowed never to set foot aboard a capital ship again. He was all the more horrified, then, when he learned that his only son, Dash, had enlisted in the Emperor's Hammer TIE Corps.

The two men's political views had already caused family tension, but Dash’s decision to take the job led to a long-lasting rift between them. The only thing that still connected them in any way was their shared love for vintage starfighters. Specifically, the various models of the Y-wing series. The father loved them because he had worked on these machines during his service in the Clone Wars, while the son loved them because he had grown up listening to his father’s bedtime stories about the old days.

Being transferred to Battlegroup 3—and specifically to Scorpion Squadron—offered Dash two advantages. First, he had the chance to fly the brand-new E-7 E-wing starfighter instead of merely looking at pictures of it. Furthermore, the opportunity to fly combat missions against the New Republic offered a way to acquire old technology from the Clone Wars.

Thus, during a raid by Strike Group Venom on a lightly guarded New Republic depot, he captured a Koensayr Y-wing. His plan was to restore the ship to its original configuration—that beautiful, majestically gliding starfighter whose engine cowlings caught the evening light so exquisitely. The very starfighter Dash’s father, Pip, had always raved about.
