Planetoid Cernun

From Emperor's Hammer Encyclopaedia Imperia

Planetoid Cernun once played host to the headquarters of the Bounty Hunter's Guild. Heavily armed and consisting of several decks, the Cernun is the nerve centre of the Bounty Hunters Guild. It is from here that all primary operations are launched. It is also the home of the Commission council chambers and primary Commission offices. The Cernun has several high power HoloNet receivers and transmitters that allow it to remain in constant communication with the Emperor's Hammer, Commission members, the Kabal Authority and Kabals at all times. The Cernun also hosts the Lyarna Systems DefenseNet and starfighter support. As well as providing a base of operations and the systems primary line of defence, the Cernun is a symbol of stability, strength and power within the system. Lastly, the Cernun is the first major stop for visitors to Lyarna System as all ships that enter the system must check in and be passed by Cernun security.

Locations[edit]

Op Mountain[edit]

"Op Mountain" is the name given by the hunters to three distinct, but interconnected establishments, located somewhere on the Planetoid Cernun. The location is only known to the current Commission and its former members. Also, the controlling network for the Lyarna System Datanet, which is run by a shadowy figure known as "Spanky" is loacated at "Op Mountain". FInally, "Op mountain" seemingly provides a magical ability to all Commission members to find any trouble being caused in the system, and deal with it quickly and effectively. Since it can't be explained normally, these incidents are simply attributed to Op Mountain.

Catch-22[edit]

The Cernun Cantina is the one place on the space station that does not have the cold, sterile feels of a ship. In fact, it’s anything but sterile. When you enter, there’s always a waft of smoke and a few muttered curses to greet you. The warm, dim lighting enhances the ambiance of a seedy atmosphere that makes the most paraniod hunter feel right at home. The walls are covered with an ever-growing collage of beat-up weaponry taken from bounties, along with the odd splash of blood from an earlier brawl.

The bartender, Waynne, has been there as long as any hunter can remember. He’s was a bounty hunter himself, back in the day, and is as scarred as the bar and as sour as the homemade brew. He’ll probably never be replaced because he has a flair for making flaming drinks and a network of contacts that Dukes envy. Waynne’s only rival as informant is the anonymous man in the trenchcoat, but that guy only shows up after the latest mission has stumped everyone.

Wooden tables are scattered everywhere; the tablecloths were never replaced after the mysterious ‘flaming table dancing’ incident and most tables have chunks missing because bored hunters with vibroshivs see nothing wrong with whittling the furniture. Against the walls are the booths for more private meetings between hunters and lovers. A soundproof barrier can be raised between the booths, but that’s generally a bad idea because it proves that you’re saying something that people will pay to hear.

The general rule is that the hunters doing business head for the booths, the storytellers head for the open tables and the depressed or literally clueless head for the bar.

As for what they serve? Every kind of hard liquor known to man or alien, wine for the tasteless who want to appear refined, a few decent snack foods and there’s a rumor that they can serve meals. Since the Tacticians pet hangs around the kitchen, though… stick to the bottled stuff. Oh, and don’t ask for water. Just… don’t.

Planetoid Cernuns supply shop[edit]

The Planetoid Cernuns supply shop is not just one shop but actaully like a series of shops under one roof. All manner of criminals market themsleves here. Each criminal, smuggler, hunter, whatever opens his own little section to attract the business of people who need to go outside the law. Customers locate the appropiate section of the store, shop for the best price on a paticular service or good, and complete the transaction. Once in awhile there is raids on the shop but the merchants have too many escape routes and usally only the customers get caught. Hunters say Trench calls these raid on purpose to capture the weak and those who are not smart enough to escape die. Be advised this is a shop full of criminals and extreme precaution should be taken when 'shopping'. In other words bring a gun, and if you can some back-up.

Fett Gardens[edit]

Fett Gardens is a lovely apartment/condo section of Planetoid Cernun. Prices range from 500 ICs/month up to 9,000 ICs/month. Unit types are studio apartments, one, two, and three bedroom apartments, 2 bedroom condos, and 3 bedroom condos. All units come furnished with a refrigerator and clothes-recycling unit.

The Gardens are organized into 8 smaller neighborhoods (Zuckuss Commons and Bossk Way are highly sought-after), and each neighborhood is centered around a small garden, swimming pool (with common water--speciality liquids can be arranged at greater expense), recreational facilites, and a clubhouse. Whether you're a new hunter looking for a place to call your own, or a Master looking for a place to unwind or entertain guests, Fett Gardens is the place to do it.

The Governor's Bar[edit]

The Guv is another bar in the line of Catch-22, but is lesser known. A few of the older hunter's favor the Guv for the quieter atmosphere, and the fact that Horbald's meals are actually edible. The lighting is kept at a low but tolerable level, subtle music continually plays in the background. The bar and tables are made of real imported wood from Elacca, covered in carvings and battered from years of use and abuse. A techie who owed Horbald a favor spliced into the main BHG credit system, so no paying is necessary at the Guv--the money cuts straight from your account. All in all, an agreeable watering hole--just don't sit in a regular's spot.

The Cernun Technical Office[edit]

Nestled amongst the other command buildings on Cernun is the CTO, which functions as the main repository of all accessible information in the Lyarna System, and for a good part of the EH Territories as well. The CTO is run by the Frood, Koral, and the BOFH, but it is rumored that the mysterious figure known as "Spanky" is also involved. Some well known servers that the CTO runs include "Roster" and "Message Forum"; some of the lesser known and accessible are "The Registry" and (some say) "Op Mountain".
