TCCOM:Requesting a Transfer
Inter-squadron transfers happen when a pilot wants to be assigned to a different squadron. They are requested by the pilot to the TCCOM directly for two reasons:
- So that the TCCOM knows that the pilot is requesting the transfer as opposed to having someone speak for them
- So that the TCCOM can take the lead on moving the request through the approval process
Once a transfer request has been made, the TCCOM notifies the CMDR and BGCOM of the squadron that would lose that pilot. This is where the CMDR and BGCOM have an opportunity to speak with the pilot before approving the request in case they'd like to understand more about the pilot's reasons for transferring or try to resolve an issue that might be causing the pilot to feel like they need to transfer. This process normally has a deadline as the pilot deserves a timely processing of their request.
After the CMDR and BGCOM of the squadron of origin have approved the transfer or at least acknowledged that the pilot will be transferring, the TCCOM takes the request to the CMDR of the BGCOM of the squadron that would gain that pilot. Approvals at this stage are usually received quickly as there's not normally any reason to deny an inbound transfer.
Following the receipt of approvals from all the CMDRs and BGCOMs involved, the pilot is transferred to their new squadron. Note that there's no restriction on when a pilot can transfer again, so they can initiate another transfer request whenever they'd like.
Because the TCCOM will be obtaining all of the approvals, the pilot doesn't need to seek those out before making a request. Also, the pilot doesn't need to justify their decision in any way and the request can simply specify which squadron they'd like to move to. The reason behind the request might be asked about by the CMDRs and BGCOMs involved, but there's no expectation of having a "good reason" and requests won't be denied if there isn't one.
