Because serving the Empire was always forefront in his mind, the only real question was how. While his parents initially pushed for him to follow in their footsteps, when they realized his love for spacecraft and saw his skill inside the cockpit, the choice was obvious. His acceptance into the TIE Corps was celebrated and he has never looked back.
