Assurian Halo
The Assurian Halo was a star cluster in the Unknown Regions. The star cluster was comprised of a broad outer ring of over 400 systems, of which only 9 had settlements. The outer ring included several long established systems, but none were members of the Old Republic and remained fiercely independent.
A central hub of four systems formed the core of the Halo. Not much was known about the core worlds prior to the campaign. Imperial records indicated that previous efforts to establish contact during the time of the Old Republic had disappeared without a trace or further report. This led to superstitious avoidance of the area by all spacefaring traffic and trade.
After agreeing to defend the Tusorixians from further raids by the Ishtari, the forces of the Emperor's Hammer identified the Halo as the location of the Ishtari hive world. The First Recon Division launched an all-out assault on the Halo, capturing several systems. Despite taking severe damage, the Emperor's Hammer fleet fought their way to Assur II and bombarded the hive world into submission before withdrawing back to Tusorix for repairs. All members of the First Recon Division who fought against the Ishtari within the Halo were awarded the Assurian Halo General Campaign Medal.
