D4-KK

From Emperor's Hammer Encyclopaedia Imperia

Biography[edit]

  • Designation: D4-KK (“Darkek”)
  • Model: Imperial Tactical Support Droid (Modified KX-series)
  • Owner: CPT Witchblade, Alpha Squadron
  • Affiliation: TIE Corps, ISD-II Hammer, Wing I – Alpha Squadron
  • Function: Squad Support / Intelligence / Close Quarters Combat

Physical Description[edit]

D4-KK stands at 2.15 meters, a blackened and matte-reinforced version of the classic KX-series droid design. Its glowing crimson optical sensors are protected by a retractable blast visor which has seen better days but still functions as intended. Various parts of its frame bear hand carved etchings—some hand-engraved squadron insignia, some battle marks – all added by Witchblade during downtime. Its left forearm houses a retractable vibroblade which has come in useful on more than a few occasions.

Personality Matrix[edit]

Darkek’s core programming blends standard tactical AI with custom behavioural scripts authored by members of the Hammers engineering crew, often in exchange for drinks and piloting lessons. The result is a droid that is simultaneously pragmatic, darkly humorous, and fiercely loyal, particularly to Alpha Squadron.

Darkek often offers bleak, deadpan quips mid-mission and refers to most combat encounters as “opportunities for aesthetic disassembly.”

He has been known amongst the Alpha Squadron pilots for a fondness of blaring distorted opera during boarding operations, claiming it "improves morale."

Loadout & Capabilities[edit]

  • Armament:
    • Retractable vibroblade
    • Wrist-mounted dart launcher (neuro-stun or acid payloads)
  • Tech Suite:
    • Optical/thermal/motion sensors
    • Rudimentary pilot-assist subroutine (can fly a fighter poorly in emergencies)
  • Armor & Mobility:
    • Durasteel plating, stealth-coated
    • Hydraulics tuned for heavy lifting, shipboard traversal, and moderate stealth

Role in Alpha Squadron[edit]

Darkek serves as a combat partner for ground missions, infiltrator, and guardian of the squadrons bar tab. In mission briefings he occasionally acts as the “voice of dark reason,” highlighting risks others might have missed.

When not deployed or otherwise occupied Darkek performs maintenance on squadron equipment with the Hammers engineering crew, usually while humming eerie lullabies to himself.
