Wiki Structure Guide
This criteria serves as guidelines for the overall structure and layout of articles on the Encyclopaedia Imperia wiki. These guidelines promote a consistent visual and syntactic structure between articles, and overall uniformity in editing processes. See also the Wiki Editing Guide for general recommendations on wiki content.
Article structure[edit]
The recommended structure for Encyclopaedia Imperia content generally follows that of Wikipedia, although significantly simplified.
Order of article elements[edit]
1. Before the article content. This consists of maintenance, infobox, collection, {{DISPLAYTITLE}}, and similar tags. Editors should ensure to use single line breaks only in this area, as double line breaks will introduce unnecessary whitespace in the resulting article.
2. Lead section. The lead section is an introduction to an article and a summary of its most important contents. It is located at the beginning of the article, before the first heading. If possible, the page title should be the subject of the first sentence with the term in bold. For example:
The subgroup is a primary organizational element of the Emperor's Hammer that is designed to emulate different thematic elements of the Star Wars universe.
If the article title does not lend itself to being used easily and naturally in the first sentence, the wording should not be distorted in an effort to include it. Instead, simply describe the subject in normal English, avoiding unnecessary redundancy. Instead of:

3. Table of contents. The table of contents (TOC) automatically displays for articles with multiple headings. In most situations, the TOC should be left in place. In certain situations where this is not preferrable, place __NOTOC__ to suppress display of the TOC.
4. Article content. Focus on well-structured content. Divide articles into appropriately sized sections and paragraphs.
Section headings follow a hierarchy, starting at 2 and ending at 6. The level of the heading is defined by the number of equals signs on each side of the title. Sections start at the second level (== Heading 2 ==), with subsections at the third level (=== Heading 3 ===), and additional levels of subsections at the fourth level (==== Heading 4 ====), fifth level, and sixth level. Sections should be consecutive, such that they do not skip levels from sections to sub-subsections. Between sections, there should be a single blank line: multiple blank lines in the edit window create too much white space in the article. There is no need to include a blank line between a heading and sub-heading. For more information see the MediaWiki formatting guide.
Section headings should generally use sentence case (Order of article elements), not title case (Order of Article Elements) except in the case of proper nouns or other specific circumstances.
