About[edit]

Defending the Rift is an official Emperor's Hammer campaign that took place during Imperial Storm VI that ran from 02-15-2024 to 03-15-2024. It is set in 32 ABY, nearly a year following the Neutralization of the Ishtari campaign. As in previous campaigns, the prologue is set by the Fleet Commander and the success or failure is shaped by the members of the Emperor's Hammer.

Prologue[edit]

ABY 32 (01 28 2024)

Once the Chaos was reached the Grand Admiral quickly made contact with the Navigator’s Guild and contracted several of their members for long term use by various parts of the fleet.

With the aid of the Navigators the fleet made contact with several member states in the area and found that the Kilji had been making raids on all of them over the last several months.

After speaking with several other species, we found that the Kilji were a large group of religious fanatics from the far side of the cluster that were bent on converting everyone to their beliefs, and if they couldn’t be converted then they needed to be killed.

Contacting the Chiss Ascendancy we introduced ourselves and did our best to reestablish Imperial relations with the secretive people. The fact that we were a unit formed by Grand Admiral Ronin (a Chiss himself) aided in this.

We learned from the leader of the Chiss expansionary fleet that a large fleet of Kilji seemed to be planning a mass attack on the Cluster.

The problem was that the various fleets of the cluster could protect their own territories but there was a gap.

The Tkon Rift, a nebula located between the Kilji Illumine and a lot of the other species of the cluster. If the Kilji chose to send a large fleet through it they could strike at rear and sides of 6 of the cluster inhabitants, including the Chiss. No single group has enough forces to fill this gap, and none of them trust each other enough to work together.

If the Emperor’s Hammer can fill this gap, and it should be large enough to do so, it would relieve the rest of us to defend our borders.

Campaign Background[edit]

With the successful acquisition of the 'navigators' from the Navigators’ Guild, the Emperor’s Hammer First Recon Division fleet made contact with several member states in the neighboring regions of the Chaos. We learned the Kilji Illumine had been launching raids on the various states over the last several months. The Kilji Illumine were determined to be a large theocratic government that believed that all sentient beings of the galaxy should submit to enlightenment via their belief system, regardless of their opponent’s feelings on the matter.

Having made swift contact with the Chiss Ascendancy we did our best to reestablish Imperial relations with the secretive people. The fact that we were a unit formed by Grand Admiral Ronin (a Chiss himself) aided in this. We learned from the leader of the Chiss expansionary fleet that a large fleet of Kilji seemed to be planning a mass attack on the Cluster via an undefended gap - the Tkon Rift.

The Tkon Rift, a dense nebula, stood between the Kilji Illumine and many of the other species of the cluster. If the Kilji chose to send a large fleet through it, they could easily strike at the weakly defended rear and sides of six of the cluster’s inhabitants, including the Chiss. No single group had enough forces to fill this gap, and none of them trust each other enough to work together. It was into this breach the Emperor’s Hammer strode and, though incurring a heavy toll, was able to stem the flood of the Kilji, preventing them from penetrating through the Tkon Rift.

Outcome[edit]

As per the instructions of Grand Admiral Rapier, the TIE Corps and Secret Order set out to prevent the Kilji Illumine from making passage across the Tkon Rift and using it as passage to attack the species that call this part of the Chaos home. Over the course of the month we saw multiple star systems swap hands as both sides attempted to take and hold the Rift, by the end however the TIE Corps still held sway over several star systems, and just as importantly, had destroyed close to 60% of the Kilji fleet.

Whilst Imperial forces that were damaged in battle had been forced to withdraw from the Rift and seek repairs at the friendly worlds of the Chaos the Kilji have no such allies to fall back on, they remain a threat but a significantly reduced one as they fall back to the worlds they have conquered in attempt to lick their wounds ahead of any future conflicts.

Awards[edit]

Combatants of the conflict in the Tkon Rift received the Tkon Rift campaign medal.
