"Tan" is the highest Combat Rating level in the TIE Corps, earned upon reaching 5,000 combat rating points.
Tan is considered both a title and a rank, bestowed upon starfighter pilots in recognition of their exceptional skills. Two well-known Tans in the Star Wars universe are Anakin Skywalker and Maarek Steele. In the TIE Corps, Brucmack earned Tan under the previous rating system (1,000 points) and Anahorn Dempsey earned Tan under the revised rating system (5,000 points).
Tan replaced "Jedi" and "Jedi Master" after it was the winning entry in a competition to rename the combat rating levels.
