There's not much to say about Commander Steve Dermody. He joined the Emperor's Hammer in 2018, finishing his trainig at the PLT Daedalus within a single day. Same day he got his assignment as Flight member of Epsilon squadron and earned his promotion to full Lieutenant.
With his high levels of activity he managed to earn his promotion to Lieutenant Commander within not even full 2 months, and about a year later to Lieutenant Commander.
He actually holds the position he held when first joining Epsilon squadron after his training at the platform Daedalus.
