Guidelines

The Imperial Achievement Ribbon (IAR) is...

1. Used to recognize short-term bursts of activity, approximately 10 MSE points
   • Short-term burst is defined as being about three days.
2. Similar to most merit medals since it would be awarded for many different kinds of activity. Not specialized like the service medals or commendations.
3. Should generally be recommended by someone in the pilot’s chain of command.
   • The pilot indulging in several different activity types shouldn’t result in multiple IARs from the same recommender. You could have a CMDR recommend an IAR for one type of activity and the BGCOM a second, but that should be the limit.
4. Not a part of the MSE process, and does not deduct from the medal the pilot would earn from a MSE.
5. Not to be awarded to a pilot for the same type of activity from any recommender.
   • For example, don’t divide 20 MSE points worth of flying activity between a CMDR and a COM so that they can both award a pilot an IAR.
   • If a pilot has received an IAR for one type of activity, no one should recommend an IAR for that pilot for that same type of activity during the 10 day cooldown.
   • The CMDR might award a pilot for general activity and a BGCOM might also want to award that pilot for some other activity, the 10 day cooldown wouldn’t prevent either of them from recommending an IAR.
6. Not to be recommended by the same recommender for any activity for at least 10 days, since the last awarded date.
   • Events like Sausage Week and external MP competitions would be exceptions where whoever is managing the event would recommend the awards
7. Not to be used to recognize activity that is already earning another award.
   • For example, the Medal of Instruction is worth 10 MSE points. Earning an MoI shouldn’t also result in the recommendation of an IAR.
   • The Legion of Skirmish and Legion of Combat are obvious exceptions here since they’re awarded for every MP victory and this kind of activity is intended to be included in IAR recommendations
8. The recommendation text for the IAR needs to describe the activity being recognized so that the SOO and TCCOM can make an approval determination.
   • Example: recommendation text A: “LT Snuffy completed five IU courses this week: TCCORE, SM/5, WIKI, C/DB, and ISET. Nicely done!”
     • Approved, sufficient detail and activity to earn the award.
   • Example: recommendation text B: “LT Snuffy checked in after I hadn’t heard from him in a while, glad to have him back”
     • Denied, award not intended to recognize ordinary communication.
   • Example: recommendation text C: “LT Snuffy did a really great job this week, proud of him”
     • Denied, insufficient detail.
   • Example: recommendation text D: “LT Snuffy flew a lot this past weekend by completing TIE-TC 1, XWA-TC 1, and flew for 5 LoSs”
     • Approved, sufficient detail and activity to earn the award.
   • Example: recommendation text E: “LT Snuffy recruited CT Sniffy which is a great contribution to the Corps”
     • Denied, the pilot received the MoI for that same activity.
   • Example: recommendation text F: “LT Snuffy installed Star Wars Squadrons and immediately earned his first three LoCs”
     • Denied, insufficient activity to earn the award.
