Biography[edit]
Cyan Gritter or Grits to all her friends and family was born in the hectic city of Coronet on the planet Corellia. She was born to Hess and Francis Gritter two unassuming but hardworking people whose lives revolved around the steady shifts of the heavy industrial complexes that made up Coronet City. They lived in a modest workers district that heard the constant hum of the factories, and the skyline was of smokestacks and shipyard lights.
Hess and Francis had almost given up hope of ever having a child when Hess found out she was expecting in her 40's. The couple was overjoyed with the news of their child's arrival. Cyan was born early without much warning as her mother was still frantically working overseeing droids at tie fighter parts facility.
Although Cyan came into this world early and much on the small side, she thrived in the sprawling industrial complex she called home.
She grew fast but her mind and her drive to see how things worked had her taking apart anything she could get her hands on to just so she could then put it back together again only better. She had an uncanny ability to hear a machine and know exactly what was wrong and how to fix it.
When she was a teenager, she started to earn a reputation of being able to repair household droids and shuttles in little to no time. Word spread of a young girl that had a growing ability to fix anything. What began as a childhood tinkering had become far more impressive and far harder for her parents to ignore. They knew Corellia could only take her so far. She was too skilled and too driven to spend her life on a factory line.
Entering The Emperors Hammer[edit]
Hess had walked by the recruitment office a thousand times but this time she stopped and went inside. She explained to the recruitment officer of her daughter amazing mechanical abilities. The daughter that rebuilt droids, could diagnose engine faults by sound and treated machinery like a toy.
The recruitment officers were skeptical but agreed to meet her the following day. He had a broken down repulsor unit in the back that he would have her look at.
The next day Hess brought Cyan to the recruitment office to see what they thought of her daughter. The recruitment officer brought her to the repulsor unit to see what she could do. Within a few minutes and a bit of tweaking Cyan had the unit running.
The recruitment officer was so impressed he signed her on to the Emperors Hammer and she would leave within the week for technical training program.
Life Aboard the Hammer[edit]
Cyan arrived aboard the Hammer as a fresh graduate from the training program. She was assigned to Wing 1 and the Alpha Squadron hangar bay. She started at the bottom cleaning and repairing repulsor units, assisting senior techs with diagnostics, hauling tools and performing routine maintenance checks.
Most new recruits struggled with the large scale of a Star Destroyers hangar operations. Cyan did not she excelled. She embraced and absorbed the procedures, SOP's, schematics and safety protocols with the same intensity she had as a child. Her supervisors noticed immediately she was not like the rest.
Within a few weeks her reputation for being able to hear problems in a Tie fighter before diagnostics scanners could even flag them.
Her first major step upward came during a sudden Red Alert drill. One of Alpha’s TIE/IN Interceptors refused to power up, a grounding issue in the repulsor lift generator.
The senior techs were busy. Pilots were shouting. The clock was ticking.
Cyan dove under the hull, bypassed the faulty grounding node, and rerouted the power feed manually. The TIE launched with seconds to spare.
Alpha Squadron noticed.
Especially the pilots.
