Harbinger

From Emperor's Hammer Encyclopaedia Imperia

The Resurgent-class Star Destroyer Harbinger is a ship of the Emperor's Hammer TIE Corps, as part of Battlegroup III. It was originally a First Order ship captured by Battlegroup III during one of the penultimate battles of Imperial Storm VII. While it does not currently have an official designation, it is unofficially known to pilots of the Battlegroup III as a mobile casino and marketplace.

Background[edit]

During Imperial Storm VII, the TIE Corps took an aggressive stance on capturing First Order ships, both to better understand this unknown technology and to potentially increase the size of the fleet. Towards the end of the campaign, before each battlegroup could re-group for a final attack on the Fuel Depot at Zephyron, they each found themselves individually face-to-face with a Resurgent-class Star Destroyer. Each Battlegroup successfully captured their respective RSD.

While Battlegroup III had taken to awarding the top pilot in a given battle with the rights to name the ship, another approach was taken for this final captured vessel. Admiral Locke Setzer held a competition, challenging all pilots of Battlegroup III to Name that RSD! Pilots were also asked to recommend objectives for this ship as well, as what purpose it would immediately serve was not yet clear.

Ultimately, the name Harbinger was selected, based on a recommendation by CPT Therj'en'nuruodo. For mission objective, the battlegroup voted that the Harbinger should be turned into a mobile casino and marketplace, based on a recommendation by CM Reece Torenn. While perhaps an unconventional choice by typical Imperial standards, it was not an unsurprising one from the battlegroup best known for being the suppliers of Chalquila.

To date, this mission objective has not been officially approved by Fleet Command. However, with the Harbinger and other captured First Order vessels not officially yet incorporated into the fleet battle lines and kept out of combat operations, it is currently the de facto role for the Harbinger.
