Red Squadron

Introduction

Red Squadron is one of the four squadrons on board of the MC80B Redemption. It is a Squadron of the Infiltrator Wing of the TIE Corps.
It was not a Squadron of the original Infiltrator Wing Subgroup. It was closed 07/24/2008 during a restructure of the ship.

Founding

Red Squadron was founded by Vice Admiral Exar Kit and then-Lieutenant Stryker following the commissioning of the MC-80b Redemption in 2006. Initially the squadron struggled to attract recruits due to the obscure nature of Infiltrator Wing ships being used in the TIE Corps, but before long veterans of the old Infiltrator Wing began to return one by one.

While Red Squadron was not the most active squadron in the TIE Corps, or indeed Wing XXI, it maintained an honorable presence within the unit hierarchy of the TIE Corps, especially during the resurgence of interest in the Weeks of War.

Deactivation

Two years after activation, following a reorganisation of the TIE Corps due to treason among the higher levels, Red Squadron was deemed combat ineffective and decommissioned as a frontline unit. It remained aboard the Redemption as a support unit, providing reserve pilots and spaceframes to Green and Blue Squadrons.

Commanders

Stryker would command Red Squadron for eight months, from April 2006 to December 2006, at which time he was elevated to the position of Wing Commander. His replacement, the young Commander Bodo Dent, would serve as Commander for four months. Information about the following Commanders is scarce, with Cray Mikalen and Ace Fighter both acting as Squadron Commander prior to 2008, until replaced by Arne Saknussem, who would be Red Squadron’s last Commander.
