Biography[edit]
Born on Brentaal IV to a family of freighter technicians, Renn Varik grew up surrounded by stacks of hyperspace coils, scorched wiring and forts mate of excess deck plating. His knack for starship systems and diagnostics emerged early, earning him a junior position aboard a commercial convoy by age 16. When that convoy was ambushed by pirates and subsequently rescued by a patrol group from the Emperor’s Hammer, Renn was captivated, not by the combat and piloting, but by the ruthless precision of the Imperial starfighters and their weapons.
Eager to serve, he enlisted into the fleet’s technical corps and after showing initiative in reprogramming a malfunctioning targeting matrix mid-mission, was quickly transferred to Commander Voss’s team aboard the Imperial Class Star Destroyer Hammer. He’s rough around the edges and prone to talking faster than his brain can keep up, but he is a loyal technician with a deep respect for the machines he maintains and the pilots that rely on him to keep them running.
He specializes in avionics and power regulation systems, often working late shifts to squeeze any marginal performance gains out of decades-old systems. His latest passion has been the Spectre Advanced Missile Boats of Alpha Squadron, 8 of which spend their time under his watchful eye.
