“Don’t call me blue…”
Commander Jagged Fell III is currently a flight leader in Typhoon Squadron, onboard the ISD-II Challenge. And he is an Assistant to the Tactical Officer.
Background
Born on Nirauan, in 7 ABY, to a male Imperial TIE pilot and a female Chiss weapons officer. Jagged was named in honor of the recently born son of the ruling Baron of the Empire of the Hand, to whom Jagged’s father was related by marriage.
Jagged adored his mother, even though her purity focused family never fully accepted him due to his mixed heritage. His brown hair instantly marked him as other from the blue-black hair of full blood Chiss. Nevertheless, Jagged’s mother would take him on journeys into The Chaos to experience the life in those regions, also teaching him several of the trade languages of the region.
The death of Grand Admiral Mitth’raw’nuruodo when Jagged was only 2 years old rocked the social order of the Empire of the Hand for years to come. None in the top leadership believed Thrawn had truly died and thought it was just another of his opaque strategies. He had predicted that he would return to them ten years after his reported death. The whole of the Empire focused on the tasks he had set out for it while they waited.
Their waiting came to an end abruptly and tragically for Jagged. Luke Skywalker and Mara Jade found the Empire of the Hand that year. During their escape from capture, Mara Jade crashed her Luxury Yacht, Jade’s Fire, into the hanger complex on Nirauan. Unfortunately, Jagged’s mother was serving a rotation as quarter master in the hanger that month and died in the assault.
This event forever altered Jagged’s life. He no longer believed in the invincibility of the Empire of the Hand and formed an abiding hatred for the Jedi and the New Republic that they supported. His life also was forever altered by the fact his only parent now was his father, whom he privately believed to be a weak, facetious man.
When Jagged was eighteen years old he entered the TIE Fighter Academy on Nirauan. He spent the next 4 years becoming more and more disillusioned with the Empire of the Hand as he saw them form alliances with the Jedi and the New Republic who he hated.
Joining the TIE Corps and Typhoon Squadron
On his graduation from the Academy when 22 years old he immediately stole his TIE Defender which he christened the Emperor’s Hand and went in search of an Empire that would not fall under the influence of the New Republic and the hated Jedi.
It took Jagged 18 months of searching the outer reaches of the galaxy to find the Emperor’s Hammer and travel to Aurora to join the TIE Corps. But once he heard of the Hammer, he knew that he had finally found a home that would never bow to the force and will of the Republic.
After his initial on-boarding, he was assigned to Typhoon Squadron where he was further assigned to the third position of the third flight group. The fact that Jagged Fell III was flying in position 3-3 was too much of a coincidence for General Master and he promptly dubbed Jagged “Three”. Jagged quickly found his home in the squadron and was an active presence in the squad room and went on to lead the squadron in points in the 2023 Raise the Flag competition that started just the day after he joined the squadron.
Later Jagged accepted the position of Flight Leader in Typhoon Squadron and remains in that position today. He was active in the SP Ace of the TIE Corps Competition, taking either 1st or 2nd place for the rest of ABY 31.
When early in ABY 32 the Emperor’s Hammer entered the Tkon Rift, Jagged volunteered as a wartime correspondent for the Imperial News Network, posting his daily reports about the events of the campaign, including several inspirational war posters.
2023 RtF Performance
After a short on-boarding process, Jagged threw himself into the competition with all he had. He eventually came out to be Typhoon Squadron’s top performer in the competition, placing 9th overall with a score of 2882. This made him the second highest scoring Lieutenant after the quickly becoming legendary Baron Vanguard88. During that month, Jagged flew 176 total missions from the EH compendium, submitted 20 memes to the TCCOM, submitted 2 terrible “artworks”, 60 Imperial University exams, and 2, prize-winning, fiction stories.
Both Jagged’s RtF fiction entries took 3rd in their respective rounds of competition. His first story, Typhoon Squadron: Into the Chaos, told the tale of a heroic battle engaged in by Typhoon Squadron over the world XC-50391-2. The story was told from the point-of-view of Typhoon Squadron’s intrepid leader Colonel Triji Boliv. His second story, Typhoon Squadron: Speaking Into the Chaos, was a less bombastic affair telling the tale of Jagged’s first few weeks in the squadron and his coming to realize this would be a good home for him.
The 60 Imperial University exams Jagged passed that month made him the single largest IU course taker for the month, with him alone accounting for 23.8% of all passed IU exams that month. Much to the begrudging annoyance of his squadron commander, who due to his role in the Training Office, had to grade many of them.
Mission Creation
One of Jagged’s primary motivations to join the Emperor’s Hammer was to create custom missions for X-Wing Alliance, as it was the search for custom missions that led him to find the EH to begin with. Jagged started with the X-Wing book series that inspired him to pick the games up in the first place and started creating battles to adapt the Rogue Squadron books.
His first battle, XWA-TC 70: Anti-Rogue Squadron: Battle for Borleias was released approximately 3 months after he first joined the group with each subsequent battle, XWA-TC 71: Anti-Rogue Squadron: Wedge's Stumble, XWA-TC 72: Anti-Rogue Squadron: The Krytos Opportunity, and XWA-TC 73: Anti-Rogue Squadron: The Bacta War, releasing at approximately one month intervals.
After releasing these four battles covering the intial Stackpole novels he turned his attention to learning the new TIE Fighter Total Conversion mod for X-Wing Alliance and how to best make missions for the platform. He set about converting the 4 XWA battles he had made for the enhanced, modified game. All four battles have been remastered, TFTC-TC 1: Anti-Rogue Squadron: Battle for Coruscant and TFTC-TC 2: Anti-Rogue Squadron: The Bacta War. He has plans to make TFTC battles to cover the first 7 books of the X-Wing series, with a planned final total campaign of 40 or more missions. The first Wraith Squadron battle has been released, TFTC-IW 1: Wraith Squadron: Part 1.
While also working on his larger battles Jagged also has released several Free Battles to capture things happening in the Squadron at the time. The first was XWA-F 162: An Excellent E-Wing Demonstration which is a mission designed to make use of the E-Wing patch that had been made for XWA years previously, but never utilized, much to the disappointment of several within Typhoon Squadron at the time. The second Free he made, TFTC-F 1: A Changing of the Guard, was to celebrate the retirement of AD Stryker and the elevation of VA Locke Setzer as BGCOM for Battlegroup III. And he has released a quick challenge mission where the goal is to get through a maze as fast as possible, TFTC-F 2: An aMAZEing Mission.
