- Newt to themself
Newt Dara is a Non-binary 'human' from the planet Iloh. They were chosen to join the TIE Corps and share a room with Adi Seven. Within the TIE Corps, they are noted as having excellent knowledge of starships, being able to repair ships from vastly different categories. After their onboarding, they were introduced and taught to fly a TIE Fighter. Later after a while on board, they spent a few months as a Twi'lek, thier form slipped after a battle that left them hurt. They later slipped back into their more typical form, in which they serve in.
Biography[edit]
Life on Iloh[edit]
Newt Dara grew up on the tropical planet of Iloh during the time of 'peace' under the New Republic. As a baby Newt's biological parents put them in the place of the real Newt Dara, where they would then be brought up by 'adoptive' parents. Newt didn't know that this was their origins, rather believing themselves to be a human when growing up. As a child Newt would help their parents, spending the morning aiding their Mother and Grandmother to run a small tourist trap shop, their evening spent helping their father fish. During this time Newt felt an odd pull towards both space and the sea, the sea seemed almost like another parent to them, their body almost warmed by its presence, skin scales, digits webbed, gills grown. But Newt denied themself this, feeling it was wrong, against their existence as a human. Space on the other hand feeling like an escape.
Life in Space[edit]
At the age of 10, Newt met a grizzled old captain, part of a smuggling crew. He saw something in Newt's quiet, shifting eyes. He gave her an option, go with him, escape Iloh and train to repair droids and ships, or stay on Iloh as a fisher. Newt took the offer, sneaking out at night with some basic things, stepping aboard the captains ship and being whisked away. In this time Newt worked to learn how to keep the various ships the smugglers used in shape, keeping quiet and to themself, away from the smuggling aspects. It was also in this time Newt took the alias Nova. During this time Newt did their best to do what was asked of them, becoming an integral part of the crew, keeping the droids well kept, later learning to fire a blaster, picking up a slugthrower rifle to aid in mission. Over time the captain got older, eventually falling ill. Newt stuck by his side till his death, the rest of the crew disbanding to find more lucrative opportunities. They took their money and bought an old Rebel heavy lifter, traveling to Tusorix, along with the three droids to work as a scrapper.
Life on Tusorix[edit]
From the age of 18 Newt worked as a scrapper on Tusorix, breaking apart ships and scavenging parts to sell. They did their job well, keeping quiet. Their heavy lifter aided in their job able to carry more cargo places than others, this did gain them some enemies. One day when scrapping a ship, another person dropped a sharpened plate from a higher level, it fell cutting through Newts arm. From that moment Newt required a prosthetic, one that was cheap and uncomfortable. They lived this life for a while, building a family with their droids, advancing their personalities and turning the Heavy Lifter into a home.
Life in the TIE Corps[edit]
After a battle and heavy losses, a TIE Corps ship arrived at the place Newt worked, Newt offered their services and was later asked to join on as a mechanic. Newt agreed, provided a new prosthetic, and set up on board. Later, Newt would meet Adi, a Reckless racing pilot from Coruscant, the two quickly becoming friends able to balance out each-others quirks, later sharing a bunk room together.
Personality and Traits[edit]
Newt Dara is a tall human who often wears heavy mechanics equipment, often seen stretching their back from carrying the weight. Newt likes to wear their hair long in either a braid or bun, seeing short hair as a sign of distress. Newt enjoys swimming but fears doing it, the water calling to them, asking them to change and mutate, something Newt tries to avoid. Newt has a close connection to their bunk mate Adi Seven, and their fellow pilots in the TIE Corps. Her time on board expanding her knowledge with starfighters, learning to fix TIE Models StarFighters and larger Imperial Ships.
Newt is also a competent pilot, often flying rather conservatively to improve their chances of survival. Though this has started to wear away from their connection to Adi, sometimes racing starfighters when on patrol.
As a former smuggler Newt knows their way around bounty hunters and patrol routes, often aiding in the delivery and retrieval of cargo for the TIE Corps, their ship a helpful asset in this endeavour.
