This article is part of the series: Emperor's Hammer Manual |
The Medal of Communication (MoC) is a service medal of the Emperor's Hammer. It is awarded to members for participating in official Emperor's Hammer communication platforms.
Criteria
The Medal of Communication (MoC) is awarded to any member who has displayed constant communication efforts by posting to official mailing lists, or by participating on Discord and/or our other communications platforms. The basic Medal of Communication is issued with Bronze Oak Clusters according to a tiered system as described below.
The MoC is awarded with the following devices:
- Bronze Oak Cluster (-boc) – Standard, all months other than the third, six, ninth, and twelfth
- Silver Oak Cluster (-soc) – In third month of activity
- Gold Oak Cluster (-goc) – In sixth month of activity
- Platinum Oak Cluster (-poc) – In ninth month of activity
- Diamond Oak Cluster (-doc) – In twelfth month of activity
Members that are not active for a period of time pick up where they left off in the award cycle. Members active throughout all months in a year should receive a total of eight Bronze Oak Clusters and one each of Silver, Gold, Platinum and Diamond Oak Clusters.
The current system of awards was introduced under Jarek La'an, based on the system of Joey C.
Award Authority
Recommendation Authority: Any Flag Officer, or subgroup equivalent.
Approval Authority: Subgroup Commander or the Communications Officer. Subgroup Commanders may further delegate approval authority down to any member of the subgroup's command staff.
Proponent: The Communications Officer establishes policies/procedures for awarding of the MoC.
Procedures
The Medal of Communication (MoC) Validation Tool provides a system for automatically processing Medal of Communication awards based on monthly periods of validated eligibility. As of February 2024, monthly awards for the MoC should be processed through the MoC eligibility validation tool. For each month, authorized leaders can validate each member's eligibility for the MoC. The database system automatically awards MoCs based on these validated eligibility periods.
The Communications Officer validates MoCs for members of the Emperor's Hammer Command Staff, including Command Attaches and Imperial Advisors, who are not otherwise assigned within the Fleet.
