TFTC-F 9: The Wrong Side
General Information[edit]
Title: The Wrong Side
Number of Missions: 1
Original Upload Date: 2025-12-14
Author: Jagged Fell III & RogueWing
Readme Background[edit]
Some of my favorite stories in the XWA database were written and made by RogueWing. He graciously has given me permission to remaster his battles into TFTC and I chose to remaster XWA-IW 7: The Valiant and the Immortal. But it was decided to not follow the original in having two possible endings to the battle and requiring the player to switch between the mission files to play the non-canon ending. So it was decided to make the non-canon ending into a standalone Free mission, this one.
This mission is best played AFTER you have played TFTC-IW 3: The Valiant and the Immortal.
That battle told the story of a rebel who attacked the Emperor's Hammer but was given a choice to renounce his Rebel ties and join the Emperor's Hammer. In the official version of the battle, he does join the Emperor's Hammer and becomes a member of the Infiltrator Wing.
But what if he had made a different choice that day...
Script[edit]
Commander's Briefing[edit]
After the events of the past weeks (See TFTC-IW 3) you have been taken into custody, pending the arrival of Security Bureau agents who want to question you about false charges against your father, a former planetary governor. However, the military campaign against the ISD Immortal of the Emperor’s Hammer is still on going and the powers that be have released you to aid in the attack against the Immortal. They tell you that your performance today might go some ways to proving your loyalty to the New Republic.
Tactical Briefing Text[edit]
It's time to finish off the ISD Immortal.
The rest of our taskforce has succeeded in drawing off most of the Immortal's support ships so that it is currently under defended.
The MC-90 Valiant and the CRS Destiny will jump to the Immortal's location.
Once we arrive, the Destiny will deploy Gravity Disruptors that will prevent the Immortal from going to hyperspace.
Destroy the Immortal's fighter cover, then take out the Immortal.
Good luck.

Victory Briefing[edit]
Lieutenant Trest looked up from his cell as a person approached. Surprisingly, he recognized him.
"Abel? What are you doing here?"
His roommate looked at him sheepishly.
"I'm sorry to have to tell you this, but I'm not really an officer in the New Republic. I am a pilot in the Emperor's Hammer Strike Force...in particular, in their Infiltrator Wing. I was undercover aboard the Valiant."
Suddenly, it clicked together, "So, you were the one who sent the fighters to try and convince me to defect."
Abel nodded, "Yes, that was me. It is unfortunate that you didn't agree."
"What's going to happen to us now?"
He replied, "Well, the Immortal is going to the docks to be repaired from the damage your forces managed to inflict on her. The Valiant is going to be renamed the Warspite, and it will join the Infiltrator Wing as a new command ship. You and your comrades are to be sent to one of the Emperor's Hammer prison planets."
At Conyer's dejected looking face, he continued, "It's not that bad. In fact, the rest of your family can move to the planet to be nearer to you if they so desire."
Throwing one last long look at Conyer, he said, "Well, I have to go. Got to finish some reports. Maybe I'll see you around someday."
With that, Conyer Trest watched Abel Malik walk out of the brig with his head held high...
