Title: Race Through Time
Number of Missions: 6
Original Upload Date: 2026-01-XX

Readme Background[edit]
Some of my favorite stories in the XWA database were written and made by RogueWing. He graciously has given me permission to remaster his battles into TFTC and I have chosen to remaster XWA-FCHG 1: Race Through Time
This battle takes place 32 years in the future. You are serving aboard the SSD Haven under the command of High Admiral Kermee. Because of the way history happened, there is no central government of any kind in the galaxy. The New Republic, the Imperial Remnant, and the Emperor's Hammer have all been destroyed. The only thing left are warlords that stake claim to whatever systems they feel they can hold onto. There is much needless destruction and warfare in the galaxy...
Script[edit]
Mission 1: Finish Off Warlord Drof[edit]
Commander's Briefing[edit]
It is 32 years in the future. The Emperor's Hammer, New Republic, and the Imperial Remnant are all gone. War and chaos has engulfed the galaxy with many different warlords staking out their own territory. High Admiral Kermee has managed to obtain the Super Star Destroyer Lusankya and rename it the Haven. He is trying to pull together enough forces to carve out an area for all creatures to be safe. You are flying a fighter aboard his ship as he finishes off a small, would-be warlord.
Tactical Briefing Text[edit]
This war has been a long one, but we finally have backed Warlord Drof in a corner. He has brought all his remaining defenses together in hopes of surviving our assault.
Most of his fighters are the older model TIE Defenders and TIE Advanceds, though he may have found some others.
Because of our recent heavy losses, our pilots have likewise been forced to fly some of our antique fighters we pulled out of storage.
Wolf Squadron's TIE Furies were destroyed in our last battle, but we did find some TIE Praetors for you to fly. I know they are not as advanced as you are used to, but this is war.
Be sure to cover our missile boats as they are the key to winning this battle.
Radio Messages[edit]
<Haven> Time to show Warlord Drof what firepower means
<Haven> Wolf Leader, you can always return to the Haven to rearm
<Haven> Wolf Leader, we are picking up some unusual energy readings in a sector near us. When we finish up here, go investigate it
<Wolf 1> Wolf Squadron, stay here while I check out what is causing these weird readings
<Wolf 1> WOW!! Haven, I think you had better join me here
<Haven> We'll be there as soon as we finish recovering our fighters
<Haven> What seems to be the problem?
<Wolf 1> I've found what appears to be a temporal rift of some kind
<Wolf 1> Wait. It looks like a ship of some kind is coming through!
<Wolf 1> It's an older ISD II. I read it as the ISD Immortal
<Wolf 1> Looks heavily damaged
Victory Briefing[edit]
The doors to the Admiral's office opened and two people stepped in. The first was a taller man who wore the uniform of a Vice Admiral. The second was a woman a few inches shorter than the Vice Admiral. She wore the uniform of a Wing Commander. Vice Admiral Marc threw a look at Major Adrenaline as they entered. The figure behind the desk was sitting in the shadows and they couldn't see his face.
He spoke, "Welcome to my ship. Please sit down."
As soon as they sat, Marc spoke, "What ship is this, and where did you come from?"
The shadowy figure said, "First things first. I bet the last thing ya'll remember is the Immortal being ambushed by three rebel cruisers. After the Immortal was heavily damaged, you made the decision to make a blind hyperjump away from them. Is this correct?"
Marc responded, "Yes, that is exactly what happened. How did you know that?"
The shadowy figure leaned forward into the light, and Major Adrenaline gave a little gasp as she recognized him. High Admiral Kermee smiled mirthlessly as he said, "Because I was there during the attack...32 years ago. And I am afraid that we are going to have to find a way to send you back to your own time. Maybe that way we can keep these last 32 years of misery from happening."
...
The three officers continued to talk once they had gotten over their shock.
Vice Admiral Marc asked, "What has happened to the Emperor's Hammer since the Immortal was supposedly destroyed?"
Kermee was quiet a moment before he replied, "Well, this information was classified top secret for a long time. But apparently Grand Admiral Ronin left Aurora Prime the same day the Immortal was ambushed. He was traveling in secrecy aboard a heavily Modified Assault Frigate to inspect a new facility to produce advanced fighter craft.”
“His ship was ambushed and destroyed. A few weeks later, the rest of the fleet was recalled to Aurora Prime to let them know what had happened. No one knows for sure what happened, but the axial superlaser on the Sovereign fired on Aurora Prime. The resulting explosion destroyed more than 70% of the fleet in orbit.”
“In the space of just a few weeks, the Emperor's Hammer came under attack from many different sides. As it usually happens in war, everyone soon became involved. The fighting has never stopped. Now, there is no central government of any kind. The New Republic, the Imperial Remnant, the Emperor's Hammer are all gone."
Adrenaline said, "Well, you seem to be doing pretty well. After all, you have control of an SSD."
Kermee said, "Don't let appearances fool you. I am running this ship on a skeleton crew. This was actually named the Lusankya before I "obtained" it from a rather vicious rebel admiral by the name of Antilles.”
“A full 30% of our guns don't work, and we are down to less than 5 full squadrons. We just finished off one warlord in this area, but in a few week's time, another one will show up. That's why you must go back. You will be the only ones who will be able to prevent Grand Admiral Ronin's death. If you save him, and let him have the information I will send with you, perhaps he can prevent the holocaust that occurred above Aurora Prime."
In an effort to change the conversation, he continued, "Our techs say that the rift is collapsing. You will have less than 48 hours to enter it to get home. We have all our available personnel over there now working on the Immortal to get it combat ready again. Now let me introduce you to the commander of our elite squadron."
The man who had entered a few minutes earlier stepped forward. "Vice Admiral Marc, Major Adrenaline, meet Major Reese Wils. He is the squadron commander of Wolf, and he is going to be in charge of getting parts for your ship."
Mission 2: Obtain Shield Generators[edit]
Commander's Briefing[edit]
In order to be able to send the ISD Immortal back to her own time, we must repair her. Wolf Squadron will go to an old Emperor's Hammer storage facility that should have what we need. Destroy the automated defenses and then disable the facility so we can capture it.
Tactical Briefing Text[edit]
It has been decided to send the ISD Immortal back to her own timeline. However, she suffered heavy damage during the attack on her.
We can fix most of the damage with the exception of the shield generators. We need some specialized parts to repair her shields.
Wolf Squadron will fly to an old Emperor's Hammer storage depot that should have the parts we need.
It is defended by mostly automated defense systems. Once you arrive, proceed to destroy the defenses and then disable the Cargo Facility.
You must move quickly. The defenses are set to destroy it to keep it from being captured.
Once it is disabled, we will send an Assault Transport to capture the supplies that we need. After that is done, you may proceed to destroy the facility.
Escort the Assault Transport back to the ISD Immortal when it leaves.
Radio Messages[edit]
<Haven> Pilots, look sharp. Their defenses shouldn't be a problem but you never know
<Haven> Take out the gun platforms first if you can
<Haven> Watch out for those laser batteries. They can be dangerous
<Wolf 1> I see they have added shields to their fighters
<Wolf 1> TIE Interceptors!! I haven't seen those except in museums
<Wolf 1> They got the parts we need
<Wolf 1> Their shields are down. ATR Falcon, come on in
<Falcon> We got the parts. Heading out now
<Wolf 1> Head back to the ship guys
<Haven> Disable that Escort Carrier if you get a chance
<Wolf 1> Haven, we got an Escort Carrier disabled here
<Wolf 1> Send a capture team to get it
<Haven> Copy Wolf Leader. They'll be there in a minute
<Haven> The capture team has been destroyed
<Haven> Go ahead and destroy the Escort Carrier
Victory Briefing[edit]
Major Reese Wils shut the engines of his TIE Praetor down and climbed out the access hatch. He had escorted the Assault Transport back to the Immortal after it had captured the parts they needed. As soon as they arrived, he and his men had assumed a combat patrol around the two ships in case of attack. Now that they had been relieved, his curiosity got the better of him and he had landed in the hangar bay of the Immortal. Looking around, he saw Major Adrenaline in the distance.
Walking towards her, he couldn't help but be impressed by the hard work and dedication the crew of the Immortal was showing. They knew that they faced overwhelming odds in going back, but they were doing it anyway.
He smiled at Adrenaline as he approached, "So, Major, how are the repairs going?"
Adrenaline looked at him and replied, "Good. They should have the shields up shortly. We got one big hurdle out of the way with those parts you got us. I just want to say thanks."
Reese said, "Well, it was just a part of the job for me and my men. Trust me, we've done a lot more dangerous missions in our careers."
Frowning a little, Adrenaline said, "I hope you don't mind me asking, but you seem kinda young to be the commander of an elite squadron. How did you rise up the ranks so fast?"
Reese was quiet a moment, and then he said, "We've lost a lot of good men and women in the last 30 years. Attrition is wearing us down. Eventually, I think we're going to run out of pilots."
Looking around, the Immortal's Wing Commander said, "Well, right now we have the exact opposite problem. When we got jumped, our recon squadron got hit hard. We lost a lot of Gunboats, but most of our pilots survived when they went EV. Nearly all of them were picked up, but we don't have enough ships to go around."
Reese nodded his head, "Yea, I think they are hammering out a plan to fix that problem now. Is there anything you need me to do?"
Adrenaline looked him in the eyes and said, "Yes, you can show me your new TIE craft. I am impressed by the technological improvements they've made with the body of the TIE Advanced."
Reese replied, "Well, follow me and I will give you the grand tour."
Mission 3: Steal Assault Gunboats[edit]
Commander's Briefing[edit]
The Immortal needs some Assault Gunboats to fill up its squadrons. Head to a nearby warlord's base and capture some of theirs.
Tactical Briefing Text[edit]
Most of the Immortal's Assault Gunboats were destroyed in their last battle. We need to obtain some new ones for them.
You and your squadron will fly to a nearby warlord's base and stage an attack on it.
We believe that he has at least a squadron of Gunboats that he will launch to defend his base with.
When they launch, disable them. Transports will arrive shortly after to capture them and return to the Immortal.
Cover the transports and the captured Gunboats on their return trip.
Good luck.
Radio Messages[edit]
<Wolf 1> No need to keep them waiting
<Wolf 1> There's the base. Everyone, concentrate on the fighters
<Wolf 1> If you get a chance, toss a few torpedoes at the capital ships
<Wolf 1> I see the Gunboats now. Disable them and then fly cover
<Immortal> We're here now. Time to pick up our new rides
<Wolf 1> Time to leave. Our job is done here
Victory Briefing[edit]
Major Reese Wils stepped into the Admiral's office. "Sir, you wanted to see me?"
High Admiral Kermee looked up and motioned for him to sit down. "Yes, I wanted to congratulate you on a job well done. Vice Admiral Marc and Major Adrenaline send their thanks to you and your squadron. Apparently, you managed to get more Gunboats than they thought you could."
The Major smiled, "That's what you pay us for."
The Admiral nodded, "Yes, now I have another assignment for you." He opened his mouth to speak, but his comm unit beeped. He frowned with annoyance as he clicked it on, "Go ahead."
"Admiral, this is Captain Gutt. Several capital ships have just dropped out of hyperspace. They are moving into attack position now."
The Admiral gave a sharp look at the Major, but he was already on his personal comm unit calling down to the hangar to have his squadron's TIE Praetors rearmed.
"Send the sensor information to my office hologram."
In the center of the room, the hologram sprang to life. It showed the Haven in the middle with the Immortal just off the starboard bow. Coming in from directly in front of them were two large cruisers. Off to the port sides were two old style Imperial Class Star Destroyers. Another sensor reading beyond the Immortal showed another possible ship, but the computer couldn't get a positive reading on it.
"Captain, this is the Admiral. Move us into position to defend the Immortal." A pause at the other end of the line was proof that the captain was not expecting those orders.
"Admiral, with all due respect, with the shape our turbolasers are in, those ships have us outgunned by a large margin. I think it would be..."
Admiral Kermee cut him off, "Captain Gutt, it doesn't matter what happens to us. Right now, everything depends on the Immortal remaining safe. You have your orders."
As he cut off the comm, he looked at Major Wils. "It seems our friends from Obra-Skai have decided to come out and play. I got to tell you Reese, the commanding officer of that fleet is getting to be a real pest. He has even given himself the title of ‘Super Duper High Grand Admiral Grazioli’. You and your men get out there and protect the Immortal at all costs. And if you get a chance, get rid of that pest Graz while you are at it."
The Major nodded his understanding. "Yes sir." He turned and ran from the room on his way to the hangar thinking about how badly they were outgunned this time...
Mission 4: Ambush!![edit]
Commander's Briefing[edit]
We have been ambushed! Get out there and protect the Immortal and the Haven.
Tactical Briefing Text[edit]
Several enemy ships have dropped out of hyperspace and are moving into attack position!
We can't leave because we must protect the Immortal at all costs.
All fighters are to launch and defend the Haven and the Immortal. The Immortal will also try and send what fighters they have available to help.
We are outgunned, so fly fast and shoot straight.
Good hunting.
Radio Messages[edit]
<Wolf 1> Alright guys! Let's take out those ships!
<Haven> Missile boats are launching and heading for the Haven!
<Haven> Wolf Leader, those Skipray's are headed for the Immortal
<Haven> Have your pilots take them out
<Haven> The Immortal's taking heavy damage
<Wolf 1> Good going pilots. Only a few more left
Victory Briefing[edit]
Major Wils set his TIE Praetor down on the hangar floor of the Haven. The tech in charge of his ground crew motioned him to keep the systems powered up, so he put it in standby mode and climbed out of the hatch.
He frowned as he saw his ground crew wheeling an Portable Exterior Warhead System toward his fighter. The P.E.W.S would be attached to the outside of his fighter and would enable him to carry double the amount of warheads normally carried. It was only used on missions when extreme firepower was called for. When he reached the ground, he noticed Admiral Kermee standing off to one side.
As he approached Kermee, he could tell that whatever he had to say was not going to be pleasant. Kermee spoke, "Good flying out there, Reese. How many men did you lose from Wolf Squadron?"
Reese replied, "Well, we lost all of Flight 3 when they went after the missile boats. But other than that, we are ok."
Kermee nodded, "Good, because I have an assignment for you. I have been reviewing the sensor data from the last battle the Immortal was in, I don't think that they can overcome the odds they will be facing. So, I am ordering you and the rest of your squadron to accompany them back.”
“I know that this is a one way mission, but it must be done. With your fighters and the new warheads we have developed, I believe your men will mean the difference between winning and losing. But above all, you MUST protect Grand Admiral Ronin. If he isn't killed, then maybe we can change these last 30 years of misery."
The Major had a grim look on his face. He realized that the Admiral was right. "But sir, if we leave, who will protect the Haven?"
Kermee replied, "Reese, if you are successful, the moment you enter that temporal rift, the Haven, her crew, and this entire timeline will cease to exist. Hopefully, the one that replaces it will be a better one."
"OK, how long do we have?"
"The techs say that the rift is beginning to collapse. You have less than an hour to say your goodbyes and collect your personal belongings. I am having your fighters refueled and rearmed with the new Mag Pulse Warheads. Also, we are sending a supply of them over to the Immortal for you to rearm with."
He paused and then saluted, "It has been a pleasure, Major."
Major Reese Wils snapped to attention, "Sir, the pleasure is all mine."
The Admiral nodded slowly, "Good. Now,remember, you must succeed or history will not change."
Mission 5: To The Past[edit]
Commander's Briefing[edit]
Wolf Squadron is accompanying the Immortal back in time. They will use their mag pulse warheads to take out the capital ship weapons.
Tactical Briefing Text[edit]
Now it is time for us to head back in time to save Grand Admiral Ronin.
The first step will be for us to enter the temporal rift. It should take us back to the point when the Immortal first entered it.
We may encounter the other Immortal, so we have changed our Immortal's IFF to the same as the Haven's.
Your fighters have been loaded with the proper telemetry needed to enter the rift.
When you arrive, use your Mag Pulse warheads to take out the enemy capital ships’ weapons. That should enable us to destroy them.
Remember, you MUST save Grand Admiral Ronin to be able to change the timeline.
Good luck.
Radio Messages[edit]
<Wolf 1> All right pilots, let's go change history!
<By the Sith!! I hope this works!>
<Wolf 1> There is the other Immortal. Protect it
<Immortal> There goes the Cruiser Rebel!
<Immortal> Up in smoke goes the Cruiser Dreamer!
<Immortal> The Wind Walker is toast!!
<Wolf 1> The Immortal is in trouble
Victory Briefing[edit]
Major Wils let a sigh of vexation out of his mouth as he looked at his TIE Praetor. A voice behind him spoke, "How's it look?"
He turned around to see Adrenaline standing there in a flight suit. He frowned, "Well, it could be worse, but it looks like my P.E.W. system is out. I guess that last laser blast damaged it. I suppose I am just going to have to rely on my internal warhead launchers now."
Adrenaline asked, "So, Reese, tell me about those warheads your guys were using. How did they take out the weapons systems on those cruisers so fast?"
Major Wils looked at her, "Well, I'm no tech, but they are called Magnetic Resonance Pulse Warheads. Most everyone calls them Mag Pulses. When they hit a craft, it sets a magnetic resonance up between the power cells and the focus crystals in laser weapons which causes all energy to dissipate. It effectively shuts down the weapon systems on large craft for about 20-25 seconds. They come in handy."
Adrenaline nodded, "I bet. Well, our techs should be happy to get their hands on them when this is all finished. I just wanted to let you know that the Immortal is on a high speed intercept course with Grand Admiral Ronin's ship. The information Admiral Kermee gave us says that he is on his way to a new secret factory that will be developing new fighter craft. It is a surprise inspection, so he is only taking a small task force with him. We don't know what we are getting into here, so all pilots available will be launching. In fact, they are preparing a Preybird fighter for me now."
Wils frowned, "A Preybird? I haven't seen one of those except in museums. They are ancient."
Adrenaline replied, "Well, back when I was in Falcon Squadron, that is what I flew, so I am used to it. Go ahead and get your men and ships ready. We should be arriving soon, and Vice Admiral Marc wants us to launch as soon as we arrive."
Major Wils snapped a salute, "Yes, ma'am. We'll be ready."
Mission 6: Save Grand Admiral Ronin[edit]
Commander's Briefing[edit]
We are on our way to where we believe Grand Admiral Ronin is under attack. When we arrive, launch and defend his ship.
Tactical Briefing Text[edit]
The Immortal is currently on a high speed intercept course with Grand Admiral Ronin's task force.
Because he is making this trip in secret, he is traveling aboard an Assault Frigate with several Gunships as escort.
We don't know what type of enemy ships that will be attacking him, so be prepared for anything. All fighters are to launch as soon as we drop out of hyperspace.
Remember, Grand Admiral Ronin [MUST] survive. The future hinges on this mission.
Good luck.
Radio Messages[edit]
<Immortal> Sovereign's Duty..this is the ISD Immortal. We are here to assist you
<Duty> How did you know we needed help Immortal?
<Immortal> You wouldn't believe me if I told you, sir
<Immortal> The Sovereign's Duty is in trouble!!
AAAAIIIIIIIEEEEEE!!!!!!
<Wolf 1> Scratch one Strike Cruiser
<Wolf 1> Watch it. That Frigate has some powerful turbolasers
Victory Briefing[edit]
Major Wils stepped into Vice Admiral Marc's office and saluted, "Major Wils reporting as ordered, sir."
Marc looked at him and said, "At ease. In fact, be seated. No need to stand on formality here."
When the Major had sat down, Marc asked him, "So, how are you adjusting to life here on the Immortal?"
Reese smiled, "Very good. I had always listened to High Admiral Kermee's stories about the Immortal, and I can see why he looked back with such pride on his days here."
Vice Admiral Marc nodded, "Have you had a chance to meet our Lieutenant Kermee yet?"
With a small frown, the Major replied, "No, sir. He is still in the bacta tank. The medics think he can be pulled out tomorrow."
Marc was silent for a moment and then he spoke, "Good. He is a good man. I expect great things out of him in the future. But right now, we need to talk about your future. Grand Admiral Ronin is on his way back to the Sovereign now. He has read our preliminary report about the past few days, and he has authorized me to grant you any position in the Fleet you want. Just name it, and it is yours."
Major Wils looked at him in surprise, and then he said, "Well, to tell you the truth, I would like to remain here on the Immortal. In fact, I have been impressed with Ghost Squadron, and I think I would like to be a flight member with them."
Marc looked surprised, "You don't want to continue on as a squadron commander?"
Shaking his head, Reese said, "No. A week ago I had 11 pilots under my command. Yesterday, the last one of them was killed in combat. I am the only remaining survivor from Wolf Squadron, and honestly, I just don't want the responsibility."
Marc said, "Well, I can understand that. However, Intel thinks that because of your knowledge of possible future events, you have become a target for kidnapping or assassination. They have suggested that we list you as KIA, and you start your career in the TIE Corps under an assumed name. In fact, they have already sliced up a new identity for you." He slid a datapad across the desk to Major Wils.
He picked it up and looked over the information on it. "OK, I can handle this." He stood up and saluted, "Sir, Ghost 3-2 reporting for duty."
Vice Admiral Marc stood and returned the salute, "It's good to have you with us, Lieutenant RogueWing."
...
Epilogue
Grand Admiral Ronin ordered the Sovereign to a point in deep space. There, far away from any inhabited planets, they went over the Axial Superlaser systems looking for what could cause it to fire and destroy Aurora Prime. This included a detailed check of all major systems and a background check of all personnel onboard. After six and a half weeks, they found the problem, but it was quickly classified Top Secret.
Vice Admiral Marc soon retired from service and Major Adrenaline assumed his position as the Commodore of the ISD Immortal. She now serves as the Battlegroup’s Commander.
Lieutenant RogueWing stayed in Ghost Squadron for a long time. Eventually, he took command of Ghost and has made it one of the most talked about squadrons in the Fleet.
Lieutenant Kermee stayed on the Immortal for a few weeks before he transferred to Research and Development. He currently serves as an Admiral in the Science Office.
Major Reese Wils’ TIE Praetor was sent to R&D where it was studied along with the new Mag Pulse warheads. Both weapons are now in limited service with the TIE Corps.
The events in Major Wils’ past never came true. Bolstered by the information the Immortal had brought back, Grand Admiral Ronin was able to prevent those events.
