Readme Background

Some of my favorite stories in the XWA database were written and made by RogueWing. He graciously has given me permission to remaster his battles into TFTC and I have chosen to remaster XWA-TC 22: The Career of VA Adrenaline.

This battle tells the story of AD Adrenaline from her days as a new recruit up to her ascension to the command of Wing XI.

Note 1: Adrenaline was promoted to full Admiral after the original battle was made and that is why this version has a different name than the original. Also, I have adjusted the rank of Adrenaline to match what the system says her rank was at each stage of her career depicted in this battle.

Note 2: We do not currently have a TFTC version of the SSSD Sovereign so a SSD is being used instead.

Script

Mission 1: Adrenaline's First Combat Mission

Commander's Briefing

Lieutenant Adrenaline has just joined the mighty Emperor's Hammer. After her initial flight certification, she has been assigned to Cheth Squadron aboard the awesome Sovereign-Class Super Star Destroyer Sovereign. The squadron is commanded by Captain Banshee who has some reservations about his newest pilot, but today will be her first time under fire, and a true test of her mettle.

Tactical Briefing Text

LT Adrenaline, welcome to Cheth Squadron aboard the Flagship of the Emperor's Hammer, the SSSD Sovereign.

We just received a distress call from a casino a few sectors away.

Cheth is to launch and head there now. Find out what the problem is and deal with it.

The ISD Immortal is on its way as well, but you will arrive before it does.

Good luck on your first real combat mission.

<CPT Banshee> Head for the hyperspace jump quickly we don't know what is waiting for us

<CPT Banshee> LT Adrenaline, watch yourself, just because this is your first mission, don't get yourself killed

<Casino> Thank God. Help has arrived

<CPT Banshee> Everyone, take out the fighters first then the ships

<LT Adrenaline> Sir, an enemy pilot just bailed out of the System Patrol Craft

<CPT Banshee> LT Adrenaline, pick that pilot up. (shift + P)

<LT Adrenaline> Yes, sir

<Immortal> Cheth, this is the Immortal. We heard you could use some help

<CPT Banshee> Not really Immortal. I guess you're too late. However, we got an enemy pilot and we would like to bring him aboard for interrogation before he dies of exposure

<Immortal> Come on in. Our hangar crew is expecting you

<Casino> We are sending out two Tie Fighters to help you. It's not much, but it's all we have

Victory Briefing

Captain Banshee looked at Adrenaline, "That was some amazing flying out there Lt."

"Thank you, sir."

Banshee was quiet for a moment before he continued, "I don't mind telling you that some of the other squadron commanders would hesitate before they brought a woman in their squadrons. But, with someone of your caliber, I am glad I did. Now, head to the cantina. You see, our tradition here in Cheth Squadron is that anytime a new squadron member goes on their first combat mission, drinks are on them. And your fellow squad mates are waiting for you. Dismissed."

As Adrenaline left Captain Banshee's office, she smiled. She was going to like it in the Emperor's Hammer.

Mission 2: Joining Falcon Squadron

Commander's Briefing

It has been a couple of weeks since Cheth Squadron captured the pirate who ejected from his dying System Patrol Craft. During his interrogation he reluctantly revealed the location of their pirate base.

The Emperor's Hammer is sending the newly joined ISD Immortal, and her compliment of TIE Corps pilots, to destroy the base, and all who reside there. However, as the Immortal is so new she does not have enough pilots to make the assault so the TIE Corps have reassigned a number of officers from the SSSD Sovereign to the Immortal to bring her up to fighting strength.

Newly joined LT Adrenaline is one of those pilots who is now assigned to the Immortal. Little does she know that this move will come to define her career in the Emperor's Hammer.

Tactical Briefing Text

Before the prisoner died during his interrogation, he revealed to us the location of the base he was operating out of.

The ISD Immortal is being dispatched to destroy it. Because they are new to the Emperor's Hammer fleet, they don't have enough pilots for this mission.

LT Adrenaline, you are being transferred to Falcon Squadron aboard the ISD Immortal so you can help out their regular pilots.

Once you arrive, the Immortal will head out for the hidden base.

Flying a Preybird fighter, your duty will be to protect the rest of Falcon as they make their assault on the pirate base.

Victory Briefing

Lieutenant Colonel Blade, wing commander of Wing XI, looked at his squadron commanders.

"Gentlemen, I am impressed with our pilots' abilities. That last mission showed admirable skill under fire."

He turned to Dras Hempor, commander of Falcon.

"Dras, what do you make of your new LT?"

Dras was quiet for a moment, considering his reply, "Well, LT Adrenaline is a superior pilot. In fact, she has agreed to remain with Falcon instead of returning to Cheth. And, I believe that she shows real command abilities. It won't be long before she is promoted to Lieutenant Commander. The next mission we fly, I am going to put her in one of our Skipray Blastboats and see what she can do with that."

LC Blade nodded his approval

"Ok, now on to other matters. Fleet Command has come to the conclusion that the base we destroyed was too well armed to be simply pirates. They believe that was actually a rebel undercover operation. What they don't know is what they were doing raiding that casino. We have been instructed to attack one of their smaller defense stations and make a data raid."

As the squadron commanders sat back in surprise, he continued, "I know that this type of mission would normally be handled by the Sovereign, but Command is starting to put more and more confidence in this crew. Now, all we have to do is continue to give them reasons for that confidence."

He looked at each one for a minute. "Let's see if we can't put together a working mission..."

Mission 3: Data Raid

Commander's Briefing

In the months since the Immortal's assault on the disguised Rebel base LT Adrenaline has found a home aboard the Immortal. She has risen rapidly through the ranks, first as a Lieutenant Commander and now a full Commander and flight leader of Flight 2 of Falcon Squadron.

It has taken some time to plan the attack on the hidden Rebel Research Facility in this sector to try and ascertain the purpose of the Rebel forces here but the Immortal is finally ready for the mission.

Tactical Briefing Text

We have been instructed to make a data raid on a rebel research facility.

Once the Immortal arrives in system, all fighters are to launch and engage the enemy. Falcon Squadron is to disable the facility while Ghost and Ranger cover them.

Once the facility has been disabled, a transport will leave the Immortal and board the facility to capture the data core.

Once that is done, finish up by destroying all the enemies. We don't want the rebels to know we got one of their computers

CM Adrenaline, be careful out there. We expect the research facility to be heavily defended.

Radio Messages

<CM Hempor> CM Adrenaline, take your men and disable that research station

<CM Adrenaline> Yes, sir. Falcon, form up on me. We're going in hot

<CM Hempor> Watch out for that Assault Frigate!

<CM Adrenaline> Flight 3, take out that Frigate

<CM Slyth> Yes, ma'am

<CM Adrenaline> The research station is disabled

<Immortal> Copy that, Falcon. We're launching the boarding party now

<Rebels> Nnnnoooooooooooooooo!!!!!

<CM Adrenaline> Looks like the Calamari need a new ship!

<Immortal> Falcon, you are cleared to take out the research station

Victory Briefing

Dras Hempor stood in front of the pilots' ready room. He looked out over all of the tired faces.

"Well, by now, you all know that LC Blade was injured in one of the last rocket attacks on the Immortal. So, by command of the Fleet Admiral, I will be taking over the position of Wing Commander."

He waited for the inevitable chorus of good-natured groans.

He continued, "But, Fleet Command was so impressed with the results of the raid, that they have sent us enough pilots to open up another squadron. Therefore, we have some reorganization to get used to."

"Nix will be the commander of the newly opened Demon Squadron. They have been issued the TIE Experimental M1. They will be an escort squadron which will prove handy in future missions. Arso will be promoted to Falcon Squadron commander. That leaves Ranger Squadron open. CM Adrenaline has agreed to command it."

He grinned as everyone began congratulating the new commanders.

Clearing his throat, he called for attention, "Everyone get plenty of rest. Once the Fleet gets done deciphering it, they will be calling on us for other missions."

Mission 4: Volunteer Recon Run

Commander's Briefing

The technicians of the Emperor's Hammer Science Office have been hard at work on the Data Core the Immortal brought back from the Rebel Research Facility. So far, they have only managed to extract a simple set of coordinates from the core.

High Command has ordered a reconnaissance flight to those coordinates to investigate.

Tactical Briefing Text

The encrypt specialists are having a hard time decrypting the captured data core. One of the things they found so far is a set of coordinates.

We don't know what is at those coordinates, but we need to find out.

CM Adrenaline has volunteered to go on a recon mission and see what is out there. If she gets into trouble, the Immortal will hyper to her location to help out.

<CM Adrenaline> Yes, sir. No problem

<Factory> Unidentified ship, stay where you are. This is a private sector

<CM Adrenaline> Sorry, no can do. I have my orders

<Factory> What are those orders?

<CM Adrenaline> I am here looking for a rebel outpost

<Factory> Sorry gunboat. We're just a shipping company

<CM Adrenaline> We'll see about that

<CM Adrenaline> Technicians?!?

<CM Adrenaline> Immortal, I think I found our link to the rebels. I need help

<Immortal> On our way, CM Adrenaline

<CM Adrenaline> Do you see that! Those Marauder corvettes are hauling butt!!!

<CM Dan> They are moving as fast as a fighter craft!

<CM Adrenaline> Immortal, these ships have droids in them

<Immortal> Their reinforcements just arrived

Victory Briefing

Dras Hempor looked at the squadron commanders.

"That's it, then. Now we know what the Rebels are hiding. They are apparently working on a way to make their capital ships move as fast as a much smaller craft. They must have set up that dummy corporation as a front. The casino raid was basically just for the money to help with the funding of that project. Now, what do we do about that?"

Adrenaline spoke up, "Those Marauder Corvettes were manned only by droids. I suspect that they were the only prototypes, because they took off so fast. If we can find them and get rid of them, that will set the project back quite a ways."

Several of the other commanders nodded their heads in agreement. Dras smiled, "OK, then let's see what we can do about finding them..."

Mission 5: Find the Super-Marauders!

Commander's Briefing

The Emperor's Hammer cannot allow the Rebels to regain control of their new Super-Marauders. The ISD Immortal and her pilots have been ordered to quickly find the droid controlled ships and destroy them before they fall back into enemy hands.

Tactical Briefing Text

Fleet Command has instructed us to find those Super Class Marauders that escaped from our last engagement.

Ranger Squadron will fan out on a recon mission to see if they can find them.

Once you locate them, relay your position to the Immortal so we can join you.

The INT Dominator will be joining us. They will trap the Marauder's so they can't escape while we destroy them.

Because you will be on your own for a little while, your craft is being loaded with a double load of warheads.

<LC Hempor> Let us know as soon as you find those ships, Ranger

<CM Adrenaline> Yes, sir

<Cargo> Unidentified starfighter, what is your purpose here?

<CM Adrenaline> This is Ranger 1 off of the ISD Immortal. I am here looking for two rebel craft that fled from an earlier engagement. Once I inspect everything here, I will leave you in peace

<Cargo> Very well, Ranger. Make it quick, please. We don't want you to scare off our customers

<CM Adrenaline> (There they are)

<CM Adrenaline> Immortal, I found them. Proceed to my location NOW

<Cargo> Are you done yet, Ranger?

<CM Adrenaline> Almost. I will leave in a moment

<CM Adrenaline> The enemy ships are launching

<Cargo> Please spare us, Immortal. They forced us to hide them

<CM Adrenaline> Very well. All pilots, don't attack the Cargo Facility but you will owe us Bylt, Inc

<CM Dan> MY GOD! Those Corvettes are too bloody fast!!

Victory Briefing

Dras Hempor stood at the front of the briefing room. "That was great work, everyone. Fleet Command sends its congratulations and their appreciation for taking out those new Super Class Marauders. They believe that we set that operation back several years by getting rid of the prototypes and the shipyard where they were constructed. Now, for the bad news. I have been recalled back to Aurora for a special assignment. That means I will no longer be your wing commander."

The pilots in the room stared in shock. Dras, leaving? They couldn't believe it.

He continued, "However, I think you'll enjoy working for your new wing commander. CM Adrenaline has accepted the promotion to the rank of Major and will take over as Wing XI commander."

The pilots began to smile. Adrenaline was well respected among them.

Dras motioned Adrenaline to the front of the room. As she stood there and looked out at her pilots, she realized that she would never let them down...

Adrenaline served as the commander of Wing XI for 4 months. At that point in time, she was promoted to the rank of Rear Admiral and she served as the Commodore aboard the ISD Immortal for 9 months, receiving her promotion to Vice Admiral one month into her time as Commodore. After her time as Commodore, she went on to be the Battlegroup Commander over the ISD Immortal for another 6 months, receiving her final promotion to full Admiral after 5 months as the BGCOM. She always looked out for the men and women who served under her and came to be known as the "Mother of the Immortal."
