The Executive Officer (XO) is a Command Staff officer (CS-2) who serves as the second-in-command of the Emperor's Hammer Strike Fleet. They also serve as the Chief of Staff for the Emperor's Hammer Command Staff.
Position Description[edit]
The Executive Officer (XO) contributes to the development and management of the Emperor's Hammer, and is in line for command should anything unexpected happen to the Fleet Commander. The Executive officer has supervisory capacities over all the EH subgroups in that Subgroup Commanders report directly to the Executive Officer and the Fleet Commander. The Executive Officer edits and publishes the EH newsletters, or appoints a member to accomplish this duty. The Executive Officer also enjoys the special privilege of being able to adopt various "secret" projects on their own initiative.
Promotional Authority[edit]
The Executive Officer is authorized to appoint a Command Attaché with a minimum rank of Rear Admiral and maximum rank of Admiral. Additionally, the Judge Advocate General and Security Officer are organized under the Executive Office and report directly to the Executive Officer. Along with the Fleet Commander, the Executive Officer may promote members up to the rank of Fleet Admiral.
Rank[edit]
Upon appointment the Executive Officer is promoted to the rank of Sector Admiral. The rank of Sector Admiral is reserved for use by past and present Executive Officers.

The position of Executive Officer was established in NL 2 (December 1994).
In NL 38, the Executive Officer was granted control of the subgroups, allowing the Fleet Commander to focus on the overall strategic direction of the club. The Executive Officer also eventually became responsible for publishing the Newsletter.
